Dont be hasty. Pirates always come up around summertime so even though we accidentally saw Amazon+LEGO "hidden" next year agenda, we can't be sure of LEGO's summer sets imo.

Niceeeee! And even nicer of your LUG to make one such contest during summertime :) Indeed the frightened man hiding in the barrel is the shining star there!

Interesting tumblehome technique. Less brick consuming and easier than hinge tumblehome technique i think. Might try it i guess. Overall a solid build.

Expressing real life worries through LEGO bricks just got to a new level!!! I hope this was so stress relieving while building it just as it is while watching it :)

Great MOC and amazing fin curving! I must really study it... Really well done!

Really really beautiful :) I wouldn't mind wearing it when going out for drinks too :)). Anything for us pirate loving scums? :P

A nicely ispired prize. Brooms are a nice idea (a poor pitare has to improvise) and so is custom water effect :)

Plum Creek - Little House on the Prairie

Hehe, nice build that reminds me of my youth :-) -
No monkeys? Blasphemy!! Going to cage you a monkey and send it to you asap! Ship curves appear pretty nice and definitely beyond my expectations for a brickbuilt ship this size.

MOC - The Floating Island of Todaidh Beag
blackdeathgr replied to cesbrick's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is mindblowing. You never stop to amaze me. There are indeed so many details in this MOC, from a simple post box, to the airship, the pine trees using inverted palm leaves and the garden on the smallest island... Simply amazing. You constantly elevate LEGO bricks to a form of art. Thanks! -
While i generally play fairly complex strategy pc games like Hearts of Iron etc, In a LEGO variation, I agree with the "simplier = more possible participants" rule. Free builds can only generate a fixed income based on complexity and again the rewards should be much less than contest builds. Plus i dont agree on a BoBS perspective that has 80% ship builds and 20% of all the rest. This is a fictional Caribbean and there were way more things than pirates. And ships are just the means, not the focal point imo.

Gary and son did it again! Superb build and historical commendation. Great job! -
Please make a ucs imperial base or a trading port a' la medieval market.

I think that primarily there should be a loose system that rewards gold or goods (wood, rum, bricks etc) which in turn buy you property (plantations, inns, shipyards, titles, looting rewards) that promote roleplaying. That way we wont discourage newcomers. We dont have the power in numbers such as GoH, at least for now. In that system, historic/fantasy freebuilding AND story related creation both go hand in hand. Islands need freebuilt inns and ports after all, just as they need stories to advance and prosper. In any case, i can help the creators any way you see fit. Just pm me. Else, i am eagerly waiting for the project to start as i am currently recruiting imperials of all kinds and colours :-)

As a Greek, i must congratulate you not only for the beautiful and acurate byzantine rhythm church, but also for the great minifig selection. Doing the interior needs a much bigger model and until tlg finds a way for us to build minifig sized frescos, it is way too difficult imo. Thanks Thunderwarrior!
