  1. Hi everyone, The past week was Lego World in the Netherlands. The event is held at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. I met someone from the Eurobricks forum, but forgot to ask his name. It was a fun week at the event. The builds were great. I took some pictures of the builds at the Fanzone of the event. For more pictures, please look into my Flickr album.
  2. This question is for folks that set-up GBC modules at events. Do you have an emergency/breakdown/set-up kit that you take to events? If so what do you have in your kit? I did my first event this past weekend and would like to make sure that I am better equipped for the next event which will be in October. Thanks, Daniel
  3. Things go awry in the department store when Santa doesn't show up as promised. Youtube Link An Entry into the 2019 Christmas Brickfilm Collaboration!https://www.bricksinmotion.com/forums/t … llab-2019/ Story Prompt by Plastic Point Productions: "Santa replaced after incident with a fake in elaborate coverup!"
  4. I am taking my regular spot at Newport Leisure Center for Geek Fest, tomorrow and Sunday. Come say hi and see some brand new MOCs.
  5. Hi everyone, I should have opened a topic prior to the event. Lego World was in Utrecht in the Netherlands from 24 till 30 of October. Many builds were shown in the Fan Zone. There were 90 exhibitors at the event. I took some pictures of the Fan Zone. You can find the pictures in my Flickr album. Sander
  6. Let me introduce you to a new, or rather old, build contest this month. Like some of you might remember, next to various build months like FebRovery or SHIPtember, there once also was Marchitecture, for building microscale architecture MOCs in March. However, since this ended back 5 years ago, I decided to revive this concept. So this March we're celebrating Marchitecture yet again! Everyone is invited to contribute Architecture MOCs. The builds should model an "existing" original, concentrate on man-made immobile structures (i.e. buildings) and be smaller than minifig scale, basically in spirit of the LEGO Architecture series (but you don't have to adhere to LEGOs strict design principles). There's two different categories, one for models based on real or historic buildings and one for buildings from films, games and other media. Both categories also accept digital entries, but they should at least try to make a structurally coherent build and not go overboard with unavailable part colours either. There's two prizes for each category, a LEGO set and a custom-build trophy, as well as a third prize pair for all digital entries. So how do you take part? The whole thing works similar to Summer Joust and the like. There's a Flickr group, which also contains further information about the contest and rules, with entry threads for the individual categories. And you can also participate on Instagram using the hashtag #marchitecture2024. Happy building (and tell your friends)!
  7. Hi, Last weekend was the event of LOWLUG in the southern region of the Netherlands. The first day (saturday) was a meeting for the participants. Various activities were held from 10:00 to 21:00. On sunday was the hall open for public from 10:00 to 16:00. A few pictures of builds at the event: For more pictures look into my Flickr album. Sander
  8. ALL OUT WAR! The IMPERIAL TRIUMVIRATE rules scores of sectors with an iron fist, while its growing supremacy goes virtually unchallenged. Every day it launches bold assaults on new planets, pulling more into its cruel grip. The Triumvirate has become a looming threat to hundreds of worlds. With the galaxy under a growing veil of darkness, hope rises in the form of the NEW REPUBLIC, ready to join the fight. A call for aid resounds through every system: Join the fight against this Shadow of the Empire. Category A: Manhunt Category B: Vultures in the Mid Rim Category C: Outer Rim Sieges Each player may submit unlimited Cat A builds. Each player may submit one build for Cat B and C. This will be the final Episode of the current iteration of Factions. Factions Season 1 will end on July 31st, and after a hiatus, will return with Season 2. Episode will run from June 15th to July 31st The Rules:ο»Ώ
  9. To all noteworthy citizens of the Brick Seas, King's Harbour has recently received Royal Recognition as a city of the Empire, and to celebrate this, Colonial Governor Jtno. Cooke, Captain, RN, wishes to invite dignitaries of all nations to a ball in the soon to be opened Governor's House (See spolier). One of the first events of its kind in Terra Nova, the Governor hopes that socialites from all over the Brick Seas will make their way to King's Harbour to join in the festivities, the banquet, and the following ball. (Dancing optional) Should you be interested in attending, please send your card to King's Harbour so the event can be planned accordingly. Your host, Captain Jno. Cooke, RN Colonial Governor, The Southern Isles OOC: Why not celebrate? I am building a ballroom and thought I might as well populate it. I hope to see many sig figs or their representatives making their way to King's Harbour, and will try to recreate everyone who attends to the best of my abilities. Fleshies might be "yellowfied" and I might need a little help in identifying proper parts, but I will do my best. I will of course highly encourage a few story builds leading up to the ball getting your characters to King's Harbour, and you are welcome to build here while you are at it, but it is not a requirement. Only the most obvious plotholes will be denied. (eg. if your character is known to be far way to the south. But then you can always send someone else). If anyone wants to interact specifically with some of the other guests, I will do my best to show that in the build. Just let me know - it may be a good opportunity to talk to a friend, prospective business partner, or strike secret political deals. I can't make any promises as to timing, but my best guess is in about a month. I think this will be fun :) Edit: All credit for the coat of arms goes to @Kolonialbeamter
  10. On 27th of august, there is an event called β€œBrick Wars” in the museum of the 20th century in Hoorn in the Netherlands. It is a small event with a group of 6-7 people exhibiting with models and diorama’s based on Lego Star Wars. The exhibitors can tell you all about the builds and there will be a small stand where you can buy small sets, minifigs and other. In the museum is an exhibition of Star Wars merchandise. It is the 40th anniversary of Star Wars and you can see the merchandise from 1977 to present. You can take place in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and dress yourself as characters from the movies. There are two rooms with merchandise and there is a corridor with showcases with Lego Star Wars after the permanent exhibition with living rooms from the 20th century. In the corridor is a building competition for the visitors. You can win prizes with this competition. In the museum is a small gift shop with Star Wars merchandise and there is a place where you can get your drinks and/or snacks. It is a small event. Between a lot of cool stuff, there was a Technic section, where I exposed my Tractor Truck and a new Moc, and where I saw a couple of interesting Mocs/Mods. 16. Hi all, I'd like to share the pictures and videos of our last event, which was held between the 10th and 12th of October. We participated Middle-Europe's largest model railway exhibition with participants from 7 other countries, displaying our train-based 38 metres long layout. The most popular building of the display was the Budapest - Western Train Station, where train tracks end in the building, without the possibility to avoid trains turning back. The reason I post it here to share and get experience with other TFOLs and AFOLs who creates train-based displays. As far as I've seen it on Brickshelf and Flickr, most train LUGs creates one or more loops around cities, where trains are running around for couple of circles, then train goes of to some storage track and another goes in. We started to create layouts without loops in 2012, which means constant taking care of trains is necessary, not to let them run into other trains or leave tracks at their ends. We use 9V to run most of our trains, and the whole line is separated to couple of sections, driven separately with 9V speed regulators. We use polarity-sensitive PF LEDS to warn each other if our section is busy. That allows to run more train at the same time, and we try to simulate some realistic traffic on our rails. Please share with us how you design your big show displays, how do you control your trains, and what are priorities for an event for you. Pictures from my Brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=548694 Videos of various trains running: Fun video, including almost all our passanger cars:

  18. Here's a topic I thought I would put in, just 'cause. World War Brick is the largest solely military LEGO convention in the world. Supposedly it is, that might not be true, but I'll believe them. It is in its third or fourth year, I believe, now, and it gets bigger every year. It is hosted in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at Brickmania Toyworks. Apart from Brickmania, other vendors come, such as GI Brick, Brickstuff, and others. Will Chapman from Brickarms is also there. Some of the activites besides shopping are looking at Weekend Pass holders' MOCs, looking at the Greater Midwest and Twin Cities LEGO Train Club displays, see Brickmania's dioramas and other builds (Including the new-for-this-year Battle of the Black Sea (Battle of Mogadishu (Black Hawk Down) diorama), or take part in the building of this year's mosaic. Last year it was the Iwo Jima Flag Raising, which turned out to be a resounding success. This year, they are doing the Cobra King picture. I could go on and on, but I have places to be, so I'll wrap this up. Weekend passes are still available for $60.00 for the complete devoters, but for the merely curious, you can buy a public ticket both in advance (it gets you in half an hour early) or at the door. You can buy them here: http://www.brickmania.com/brands/World-War-Brick.html and here ia the website for WWB itself: http://worldwarbrick.com/ I hope this sparks some interest!

  20. Hi, In case anyone is local/in the area and are interested, we have a fairly large (one side of a small hall) Lego display as part of a larger model show in Alresford in Hampshire in the UK this Saturday. For those who are interested in coming along for a visit (or if you know of anyone else who would be), some info below from the organiser of the show: "Just a quick note to thank you all for agreeing to take part on the 14th June. We have over 20 layouts/displays this year with several new layouts and many significantly altered. I am also full with sales tables (80+) The show has been heavily advertised in national and local publications as well as on the internet (please get it on any additional sites you can, ta) hopefully we will have a good number turning up. Remember many families come so beware of little fingers, any help with letting the public operate the trains is always appreciated. There is a large TOMY layout this year so that should keep the little ones happy. Enter the School via Pound Hill (continuation from main street through Alresford from East or on right if entering from Winchester end) The School now has a one way system. Four Marks Scouts will be doing refreshments all day and bacon butties early on. Alresford Scouts will be doing a BBQ from 12-3pm, The Ice Cream lady is expected to be there all day and I have a licence so Real Ale until sold out. There will be live music as well and it's 'War on the Line' on the Mid Hants Railway. Save the Children will be doing the door rota all day and also the raffle for which Hornby have donated some excellent prizes. Timings: Show is open for early entry in sports hall from 9am main show starts 11am-5pm" Further details at http://www.alresford-toy-trains.org.uk/ Thanks, Harlquinth.
  21. The HispaBrick Magazine Event 2014 will take place in Terrassa next 6th and 7th of December. There will be a LEGO exhibition in the mNACTEC museum and activities for the AFOLS. If anyone is interested in attending just contact me.
  22. Greetings all, Last year at the Great Western Lego Show all Brickset users were given badges with their usernames to wear. Should we do this for EB members?
  23. As the LEGO Ambassador for the PLUG in Portugal, I am communicating our LUG's event in Lisbon starting tomorrow (30/04) until the 4th of May. 24. Last weekend I was present at Brickmania Antwerpen, I contributed to possibly the largest pirate layout ever. 12 ships, 4 fortresses, 2 small islands and over 1000 minifigs filled the scene, a scene to remember I'd say. Besides the pirates there were many other things to see/do, I provided links to some galleries at the end of this post, be sure to check those out if you want to see more of the whole event. Contributors to the Pirate Layout: J.L. Hornblower La Luna Fortress + Army + baseplates Damaximus Mpya Stedor Bonaparte Eldorado Fortress + Prince of Whales + Minerve + Xebec Synbiote Islanders Island + small farm Sebeus I All other ships and responsible for posing minifigures, ships and creating action scenes diddesen (didier) Lighthouse Jean Marc Nimal no pictures alas... Unfortunatly Captain Greenhair was unable to show up and contribute... There were over 6000 vistors during the weekend. There's so much going on in the layout, too much to describe in one picture so I've taken several, yet most of it can be described in function of a battle between redcoats and bluecoats, enjoy . The French frigate Minerve has engaged the british brig Intersector, the redcoats are in for a hard time, the Minerve is bigger and more heavely armed and it gets worse... The minerve is backed up by the Zephyr! Yet hope is not lost for the redcoats... The mighty Prince of Wales is turning about to join the battle. Eldorado Fortress keeps watch over the naval activities and serves as a base for the redcoats. It is being supplied by small trading ships. While the battle at sea rages on something is stirring in the east... Mpya Stedor, the mighty Kaliphlin port city! Hundreds of riders are mobilized to support the redcoats on land. Backed up by a Xebec to provide coastal defense... ...Which is more than welcome since one of the british battleships stranded earlier... The battle takes place at the notorious French fortress known as La Luna... Hundreds of redcoats are preparing to fight the battle of their life... So are the bluecoats... Both sides have vast numbers... Yet at La Luna seaside life just goes on. Farore's Wind is preparing for battle and will soon join the Minerve and Zephyr to counter the Prince of Wales... However, a third party has risen to claim the sea... the Flying Dutchman will be making the outcome more uncertain than it already was. I took my job as action scene and minifig poser most serious Kids like to see these kind of details. But my favourite scene was this one: I hope you liked it, either way you should have been there, my pictures really don't do it justice. I should have known, my pictures are never of great quality when taken with artificial light, you can check the rest of the pictures at Brickshelf. Hopefully Damaximus will provide some of his pictures as well so I can update this post. Besides the pirate layout there were many other layouts, stands etc. It was often very busy so I had to guard the layout a lot, I used the opportunity to take pictures of it. If you wish to see more of the event than just the pirate layout you can check out these galleries: hanstolhuisen Tomsche MichaelOzzie Perhaps some other Belug members will also be posting detailed reports about the other layouts. Special thanks to Belug member Tomsche for providing some of the pictures I used in this post.
