What a wonderfully festive scene. It has a nice balance of stone work, foliage, and colourful figures/details. Well done!

TLG canceled my P&B order and future orders placed through S@H
Iria replied to Dosenbrot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Are you guys completely sure that Bricks and Pieces in the same way you would Pick a Brick?, because these are the options under BnP: Missing Bricks - Tell us if there is something missing from your new set Broken Bricks - Let us know if a brick has broken Buy Bricks - Buy replacement bricks here Replacement being the keyword, which makes it sound they don't want have people buying any brick, in any quantity, unless you already had it and maybe lost/damaged it. If LEGO is changing the primary purpose of BnP, this may be why people are being flagged more frequently lately, especially if they see you've made multiple Missing Brick claims. It doesn't sound like a money issue to them, unless they suspect the buyer reselling the bricks for profit.- 71 replies

What a tease these are, I want to see more! Looks like we'll finally get to see some real battles in this theme, woo hoo.The new song works well with this year's story line. The new characters all look great too. Sira Copperbranch the Sky Captain (green haired girl), has a bit of a Steampunk look to her. She almost fits right it with this year's Ninjago sets. Posting these video images here for reference, so I don't have to keep going back and pausing. (Regana looks delightful insane)

Thank you again for the kind words OmShanti! Thanks FortNerd! Actually the pieces are just regular trans pieces that are excited by UV/black light. So far I know of four trans colours that light up under black light: Trans med blue, neon orange, neon green and bright green. (And of course regular glow-in-the-dark lights up well too under UV light). They are a lot of fun to play with.

New MOC: Sparkle Rock. This moc is based off of the Elves mini-movie, which had the earth key hidden within 'Sparkle Rock'. Source material: Side views: Sparkle Rock at 'night':

Ooh, there's a grey unicorn horn inside of the mine to represent a stalagmite. I love that!!

3D Printed Minifig Head... Creepy?
Iria replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I know that it is not, but it looks too much like bad Photoshop to look creepy to me. I'd probably find them creepier in person. I think it's a weird idea, and wouldn't want faces of people I know on my minifigs. -
These are nicely done and very expressive faces. I'm impressed what you can do with resin!

Very nice! I love Art Nouveau, and I think you've captured it's curves and design nicely. I disagree with the last poster regarding design, ^Yes there is lot's of details, but Art Nouveau style is all about an abundance and layering of details, for beauty rather than function. I think it's probably one of the more difficult styles to build in Lego. Your blue and green houses are my favourites. The Kinder train was a good non-Lego addition and I love the design of the green roof The blue one kind of reminds me of Bolovia's 'Cholets',

My opinion is that it's yuck. The castle looks like it should be labeled as a Juniors set, with all those massive cylinder bricks and stickers. The colour combo is ugly, but is obviously based on the FantasyLand Beast's Castle. It's pretty bad that I think the best aspects of the set are the Belle minifig and the stained glass sticker. Oh, and that lion brick, but that's not new. His head sure looks bulky on that skinny body. I suspect it can fit, since it looks like there is quite a gap between the head and the minidoll torso. Maybe it will show up in the Disney CMF series eventually.

I'm a little surprised to see the Hot Dog suit on a minidoll. The hard ABS plastic minifig hair styles are really difficult to pry of of minidoll heads, which are accustomed to soft rubbery hair. I wonder if the suit is just any easier get off.

I'm also Canadian, so I feel your pain regarding shipping costs. I love building official sets, but usually end up taking them apart for MOCing. Here's my order for where/how I get my Lego bricks: 1) New sets- my preferred method. Either in town (ToysRUS / LondonDrugs / Walmart), or the online Lego store. Seems to be the latter more often these days as the local stores have lousy availability of sets. I focus on sets that I really like and consider the variety of pieces the set contains and if they'll be useful for MOCing. Days of the 10cent/brick are gone for the most part due to inflation, low dollar, etc. (Unless you going for large sets like Modulars, but they are filled with a lot of small pieces like studs, and boring bricks, . 2) Local used sets- I try to check online for sets at least once a week. There can be some really good deals, but you have to contact the seller very quickly because there is lots of competition. 3) BrickLink- awesome selection of exactly the bricks you want for reasonable prices, but shipping in Canada is awful at >10 dollars. If you buy a lot from one seller it's okay, but otherwise no. Not a good value for numerous small orders. 4) Lego Online Store- Bricks and Pieces site. Definitely an expensive choice for cost per brick, but shipping is reasonable. This method of buying bricks can occasionally compete with buying from BrickLink when it comes to factoring shipping. Occasionally prices are better here than BrickLink. 5) Lego Store in person- I can only visit it ~once a year because it is a costly ferry ride away. The Pick A Brick wall is pretty decent if you find bricks that you want and take the time to pack them. I'd probably visit it monthly if I could. For Minifigs specifically: I buy CMFs in store so I can feel and find exactly what I want, or I order them on BrickLink/or Ebay.

Thanks for the pics! The summer wave looks very diverse. I'm liking the look of the Love Dragon, who has unique horns and fabric wings. It's nice she comes along with a decent sized build as well. Morgana's castle encaptures darkness very well and I love those cloaked elves! Lavender BURPs..hmm. I like the mine, but will definitely want to expand it.

Here's my haul from yesterday's LEGO store visit. I filled up 1 small bucket: Overall I found the wall selection to be a bit disappointing, with a lot of basic bricks. There was, however one slot that had a bunch of random elements, including all the studs, trans red bricks, rods, and that single azure flat plate. The round flat tiles at the bottom left are silver. Took me a while to get that many from the mixed bin.

Thanks! There's nothing old in this creation from the previous and classic Pirates, everything is fresh from last year's collection. I would have loved to some of those older sets, as they had some great designs. And I still need a proper monkey.

Very nice LDD mod. The landscape is well developed with diverse foliage- I really like the prickly looking evergreen tree/bush, which is very unique next to the more standard but very full deciduous tall tree. My only criticism is directed towards the far left side of the MOC. It's difficult to tell what is going on over there- is that bushes on rock work? Or some kind of tree? The grey bricks holding up the foliage are throwing me off. Otherwise it's a good scene, with a nice-looking campfire and crew to hangout with.

Thank you for the kind words Captain Dee! It was a lot of fun to expand the set, and is my biggest, mostly original creation yet.

Amazing texturing. The stain glass windows behind the wood frames compliments the stonework of the manor very nicely. -
[MOC] Goblin Technomancer and Goblin Berzerker
Iria replied to Plutoniarch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice berzerker and sidekick. So you like to torture minidolls too? Hahaha. -
Really interesting, somewhat bizarre looking build (which I favour!). I like how you've built both the the natural environment and the technical components, including the vehicle. Maybe it drives on the ground like a Segway .

Excellent re-imagining of the Turtle Oasis set! I really like the unruly foliage around the hut, as it gives a feeling of seclusion. You've added lots of nice details.

Great idea and design! You've really used up the space of the baseplate nicely.

Forget about the cave said to be hidden behind the skull carved in the rock. Beyond it there are treasures greater than your wildest dreams. Above the tall, rocky cliffs nestled in the dense forest there is a forest temple holding more treasure than all the rest of the treasure of the world combined. But *shhh* this is a secret, which may be as guarded as the treasure itself. When a fierce pirate named Marina learned of this secret, she quickly set sail to Treasure Island with her trusty, reliable companion called Wade. She glanced through her scope up high, and was shocked, for she thought she saw a figure high above. Still she was determined to get the treasure for herself. Most of the cliff sides are too steep to climb, expect for one area. Be careful though, as it is said that barbarians reside within the dense brush and palms. And even if you somehow make it past the barbarians, unspeakable and perhaps unknowable foes await you in the temple. This is my first Pirates Mod-MOC, as well as my first Pirates set. I like the 2015 Treasure Island set, but really wanted to expand it as soon as I got it. I was inspired by this interesting MOC my boyfriend built while I was modifying the set, so I decided to incorporate it:

Clara Roft and the Temple of Kali
Iria replied to Corydoras's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Wonderful MOC! You've captured the jungle-temple feel very well. It immediately made me think of the temples of SouthEast Asia. -
I was thinking that- shorter legs on a minidoll could be used for something gnome-like, or perhaps similar to Link from the Legend of Zelda. It would be nice to have new races being introduced to the Elves, since the presence of diverse races and creatures is such a common characteristic of the fantasy genre. Be it dwarves, fairies, mermaids or something entirely new.
