Has anyone checked out the Activity Book #1 yet? It was released earlier this month and is "Packed with puzzles and stories, this activity book includes a buildable LEGO bracelet." The bracelet elements include coloured and several golden studs and round plate elements (with the nature elements printed on them). Strangely, it looks like the artwork on the front differs from the usual Elves art (left): I'm more interested in the Elves Activity Book #2, which is scheduled for release at the end of March, 2016. It comes with an owl miniset! Which unfortunately isn't shown in the image. It could be a good deal for those wanting an inexpensive way to get the owl ($9 US).

I recently build the Elves Secret Spa set. I was fairly reluctant to buy this set, and it was near the bottom of my wishlist for this theme, because of how girly this set is and my disinterest in some of the accessories such as the pink brush and basket. I ended up getting it anyways, because at the very least I can always make use of more grey and brown bricks. My thoughts on building it? : It was a lot of fun and better than I expected, with total nostalgia overload for me. I would have loved this set so much 20yrs ago when I was eight. The abundance of cyans and purples, and a purple dolphin! The magenta, however, is a colour I’ve never been a fan of. So I decided to remove most of that colour out of the set. I also modded the set by merging the two sections together and adding more foliage. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

Awesome redesign! The set looks much more interesting now. The rockwork and the little waterfall coming out of it are wonderful additions. Nicely done!

Elwing's Elves MOCs: The Outhouse of the Elves!
Iria replied to Velouria's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Possibly the prettiest outhouse I've ever seen. You've captured the Elves' style perfectly. Love the little garden and especially those trees. -
Thank you CopMike for organizing the raffle again! There are so many unique entries. Here's mine The Elves celebrate their first xmas Naida fetches water for the xmas tree, while Azari is roasting apples, Johnny is 'decorating' the tree, Farran is giving sticks as presents and Aira is getting tipsy from too much champagne. The Elves don't quite understand xmas, but they do know how to have a good time.

Yeah, I assume the green haired girl elf is an earth elf. It looks like Lego is evening out the gender ratio for the Elves, which is great. We have a new blue haired boy elf as well in the 2016 sets. We still need a male wind elf. As for the white wind dragon- I'm betting it will come out in the 4th wave sets. After all, the white dragon is represented on the box, and there is even a sneak peak of it in the latest webisode. I also have depinked part of my Elves sets. I'll post a pic in the 2015 thread a little later today. If you have the Bakery set, I'd also be interested in seeing it as well. That one has the most magenta bricks, so it would be interesting to see it in a different colour scheme.

-When you try to make a minor adjusted to your build, accidentally cause it to break in multiple pieces and then cannot figure out how to restore it back to its former glory . -Having a piece fly off, and have no idea where it went. -Vaccuum day- you never know what bricks may be getting sucked up there. And if you do notice, having to pick them out of that dusty mess. Yuck! -Wanting to purchase a set you really want, but knowing there are other necessities in life that take precedence. *sigh* This has happened to me more times than I'd like to admit. Happens because my coffee table doubles as a computer desk/ eating/working/building/reading area. Ughh. Yes! The reason I will never again throw bags in the trash before completing a set. Because, no matter how much you believe all the pieces are out of the bag, there often is a small one hiding in one of the corners.

That is a clever and kind (and humorous) gesture. I think he'll appreciate it .

I am currently reading: -'Your Pilot's License' ie. How to get private pilot's license to fly airplanes. (A near future goal of mine.) -'Wesleyan Anthology of Science Fiction'. Very neat anthology which chronicles a selection of sci-fi from over the last 150 years. It's interesting to see how story themes change over time based on the contemporary population's fears and morals.

I agree with Andy D. Sorting by piece type is really beneficial if you are into MOCing, otherwise it is probably not worth your time and money, and will be a bit of a pain when you want to rebuild sets. I think your ziplock bag solution is a great way to save space. I'd probably an assortment of ziplock bags, especially large freezer bags big enough to fit both the sets and the instructions. You can keep bagged sets safe by storing them in a few large Rubbermaid containers, which are fairly inexpensive.

I love your newest addition, Dorayaki! Your Skyra turned out very nicely and the minifig body suits her very well. She looks quite authentic next to Galadriel.
-
What a creative MOC/invention! It's definitely different.
-
Spectre. Unfortunately I have a terrible memory when it comes to Bond films, so I couldn't remember the significance of some of the characters . Still, it was enjoyable flick.
-
Skyra is definitely a wind elf. It is interesting she can create snow. Maybe elves of the same element have different powers (Aira= wind, Skyra= weather? or perhaps just ice/snow specifically?). She is cold-hearted, but that's because she lost one of her sisters, who turns out to be Emily's grandmother. Emily does seem to be able to warm Skyra's heart up occasionally. I didn't even notice the dragon on the box! I think the white dragon is a wind dragon though. Lavender and white have so far been associated with the wind elves + wind animals (Pegasus, Skyra's owl, Aira's bird). So far in the 2016 set images we do see brick built fire, water and earth dragons but no wind dragon yet. So I'm sure this white dragon will play a special role in later sets and maybe episodes. The icyness of the white dragon is a bit confusing. I think LEGO may just be grouping it with the wind elemental. I like your idea about a friend being trapped inside of the dragon's body. That would be a very interesting story! The Elves' minimovie already revealed the fifth element : love . It is Emily and her grandmother's element. Kinda cheesy, but alright. Part of Emily's power, I think, is to bring people together and bring out the best in them.

According to Brickset, I have 51 but I think this is an inflated number since I don't believe that individual base plates or maybe even CMF should each count as a set. So a more realistic number for me is 30. I'm still working on it! If you guys have Brickset, it would be interesting to hear your brick count as well. I have ~8501 pieces.

Hi everyone, I've created a new thread on the Elves episodes. Please check it out if you'd like to discuss the latest webisodes and any other media you learn about (books, apps, advertising etc) . You are also welcomed to speculate about future sets based on the details from the episodes in the new thread (Mods/admin want to keep media separated from the sets thread).

Hi everyone, I've created a new thread on the Elves episodes. Please check it out if you'd like to discuss the latest webisodes and any other media you learn about (books, apps, advertising etc) . 2015 had been a good year for Elves, hopefully 2016 will be just as good. I think you are correct in your assumption that because Elves is catering to a new(ish) market, they are hesitant in marketing to older kids. I think the easiest solution would just put a minimum recommended age, rather than a bracket. So ages 7+, instead of 7-12. I think there can be a risk in increasing the max age. For instance a parent with a seven year old could see a Lego set with a recommended age bracket of 7-16, and worry that their child isn't mature enough or skilled enough to build it. A lower age bracket gives parents more confidence that their child can handle the building aspects. Also, I wonder if parents who are not super familiar with LEGO, might look at something with higher max age and think it could be not age appropriate (ie violence) A non-bracket, ages 7+, would probably avoid the issue all together.

Welcome to the Elves episode and other media discussion thread. Feel free to share & discuss Elves episodes, non-set products, advertising, etc that you find. 2017 Media: Part 3: The Capture of Sophie Jones Webisode 18 – Sophie’s Capture Unknown to Emily Jones, her little sister, Sophie, follows her through the secret portal to Elvendale where she is captured by the evil Goblin King. Emily and the elves have no idea what dark powers they will have to overcome to save Sophie, or the difficult choices they must make if they want to protect Elvendale from the real world… 18 Webisode 19 – Welcome to Elvendale! Sophie Jones can’t believe her own eyes! Elvendale is amaaaazing! Magical animals and creatures, landscapes, a squirrel that can speak cat and – of course – dragons. The elves love her, but is Elvendale safe for real-world little sisters? 19 Webisode 20 – Evil Apprentice Ragana is looking for a super baaaad evil apprentice to help her out with the odd evil jobs around Elvendale. But is the Goblin King too evil to be her apprentice? He definitely has ambitions of his own… 20 Webisode #21 – How I Lost My Mother As a young boy, Cronan watched his mother become consumed by anger after her four elf sisters chose Skyra to guard the portal to Earth. As she was swallowed up by darkness, Cronan vowed to save her. 21 Webisode #22 – Goblin Talent Show Emily Jones and the elves have reached the Goblin Village where Sophie is held prisoner. While the goblins are busy putting on a magic talent show it’s time to get creative, distract the goblins and rescue Sophie! 22 Webisode #23 – How to build a sweet ride Aira makes a tutorial video as she builds a fantastic Fire Chariot for Azari, a getaway Gondola for Naida and a very advanced Airship for herself to help them track down the goblins. As always anything is possible with a little borrowing magic and the help of her friends. 23 Webisode #24 – Dragon Tale Tidus may call himself the Dragon Whisperer, but he still has a thing or two to learn about getting baby dragons to go to sleep. Maybe Emily and Sophie can teach him a trick or two – if he can stay awake long enough to take notes! 24 Webisode #25 – Teamwork Cronan charms Emily into taking a trip down the river in Naida’s Gondola. Sophie has a bad feeling about this guy and acts fast to keep an eye on him. As their trip takes an unexpected turn, they need to work together to find their way back. But can they trust Cronan? 25 Webisode #26 – Sophie’s Point of View There was a time when Sophie Jones thought the worst thing in the world was to have Emily babysit her. Now she would give anything to be with her sister. She fears for Emily’s life at the hands of the evil Goblin King. Can Sophie keep the amulet safe? And what will the Goblin King do when he finds out Emily doesn’t have it? 26 Webisode #27 – Queen of the Forest The Evil Forest wasn’t always controlled by dark powers. As Rosalyn tells Emily and the elves the story of how she became Queen of the Forest, they begin to understand what they’re fighting for – and against. What they must do next seems almost impossible… 27 Webisode #28 – Potions in motion Farran and Naida help Rosalyn brew the healing potions they need for storming the Goblin King’s Fortress. Potions are tricky to work with, so of course the two young elves are eager to prove they have what it takes to do it right! 28 Webisode #29 – Sizeable refreshment The Goblin King sends Sophie to the Goblin Village and has a big surprise waiting for Emily and the elves when they sneak into the Fortress on a rescue mission. Sophie may not have any magic to get herself out of a tight spot, but she sure makes use of the powerful gift she has! Can the elves finally save her? 29 Webisode #30 – Bring The Heat Azari and Aira don't see eye-to-eye on how their new chariot should look. Is speed, bling, flame-throwers or a snack bar the most important thing? They can't stop arguing. Until someone else makes sure they have to! 30 Webisode #31 – Goblin Intern Robelin the goblin goes door to door in the Goblin Village, looking for a job. He's happy to help cutting crystals, building traps, and even planting seeds for evil plants. Not everyone appreciates his hard work, or humble apologies, but who cares? Another big pay day is just around the corner! 31 Webisode #33 – The Final Battle Emily, Rosalyn and the elves prepare for the final battle against the Goblin King. It's time to rescue Sophie and save Elvendale and the human world! They have all their potions ready, but in the end, they will need a much stronger magic to defeat the Cronin! 33 2015-16 Media:

Winter Fun and Naida's Secret Spa

I agree. I hope these dragons really appeal to the younger builders. It's rare that we see something traditionally ferocious marketed this way. Even if they don't personally appeal to me, I hope the Elves dragons and sets are successful, as I really want the Elves theme to continue. Hopefully the dragons will grow a bit on me, since the rest of the builds are nice.
-
Nice little set. Sure, it doesn't have much playability, but it makes a nice display piece. Thank you for the review, I may try to build one for myself. Your smoke and flame addition is great.
-
Wonderful MOC! The trees are super creepy.
-
I agree with this. I'm waiting for the official images to come out before I fully decide to buy any, because right now they don't look that impressive, which is disappointing. The dragons are just not for me. They really are grown up version of the baby dragons. I'm really liking the new characters though. I'll definitely pick up the blue haired male and green haired female elves. Overall I like the shape of the Secret Market, except for those large tan arches which make the build look fairly plain and too easy and quick to build. The Starlight Inn has a bit of a medieval forest feel to it, to me. I'm not sure what is going on at the Dragon School, but if that zipline is attached to a tree, then that might be the ugliest Lego tree I have ever seen. I would have loved if Lego had made at least one set of this wave more intricate to build (comparable to the Adventure Ship of the first wave).

Railway to Riches (microscale CCCXIII entry)
Iria replied to BTappel's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice creation! It looks really great at that scale.
