  1. What appears to be a cozy family setting. Except, it is supervised by an armed, masked man. And the monkey god is always watching... It's not easy being an islander without any means to escape what they deem to be reality. Very funny idea, and great statues. I approve, even though I haven't registered my character yet (will most likely be Eslandola though).
  2. I believe those are trophies. ;) As this not correct, your honorable King Fernando Viceroy Filamento?edit: Wrong character.
  3. If you build in another factions area, could the faction leaders just decide to take it without force. Or is it possible to have a fighting force (uniformed or in the shape of members of the regular workforce that bears allegiance to you or something... etc) that makes the faction that owns that land have to disperse forces and roll for success?
  4. Windusky, you can try building them as if they are heavily loaded. That way you only need a row or two above the water with some slopes or something in the bow and stern, before building the deck and mast.
  5. Ahah, I just ordered 6 of those. I intended to test them in the bow of a larger ship, but apparently they work very well on small vessels as well.
  6. Can we licence contest submissions? I am building a ship for the contest, and I am thinking about using the same ship as my free ship. I have not registered a character yet, but the character is ready and I am working on the story.
  7. Ok, if I have understood correctly: 25 db for posting sigfig and story. 1 free ship (+10 db for MOC). 1 free small bulilding (+10 db for MOC). So I can start with building my character, a ship, and a small building. Once I post them I have 45 db for my next builds (+gains each month from my free small building). And I can post as many freebuilds as I like (for 10 db each) that I can register later, and then they start to produce db for me on a regular basis. Did I get that right?
  8. A ship journey may take months and months. I hope it is a fast vessel.
  9. Faladrin: You can have crew members from the start? I am also thinking of on an esolandolan character. I am curious what you come up with. Hope you get a thumbs up, so I could learn from it. I am very excited to the launch. Or a pre-launch, with a little more info about the factions? Then we could start making characters, with background stories, crew(?), etc.
  10. Wow! Beautiful and extremely well designed set. Cool parts, great building techniques, play value, broad appeal, You got them all! I would buy A LOT of this as a set. Brilliant as an introduction set, and a great addition to any city and theme as well. Modular, city, castle, pirates, friends, super heroes. This can be fitted into every setting I can think of. Use as is or expand. You have my total support. I'm not comfortable with using smileys. but this is at a time I have to use this:
  11. Oh, the first one is very very nice :)
  12. Thank you Phred. So the style of buildings and type of bricks that I have should also play a factor when deciding what faction to join? I am intrigued :)
  13. Thanks you for the feedback. Makes me a bit more at ease with the aquisition, and they are growing on me each time I see them. Phred: I am planning to Mod them heavily, maybe to the point of Moc. I don't have an exact plan, but I am playing around with some ideas. I will keep the boats, but replace the soldiers with sailors. The little shack with the green dors will be a longer dock house. The yellow/white buildings will be built together to a larger fortress, that now functions as a tourist attraction. A lot of my citizens will be working in the tourist industry, so you can still see some imperial soldiers and pirates (in costume) walking around my city. I don't know what to do with the pirate sets yet Edit: typo
  14. I am new to the pirates forum. Just aquired some old 80-90ies pirate sets because of nostalgia. What is this project and where do I find more info about it? Is it some kind of role-playing game? It looks interesting, and I would like to know more about the world, mechanics and general idea.
  15. I just got these in a bulk buy. I may have paid to much, but it is a good start that will be modified and integrated into my modern modular city, with roots from the colonial era.
  16. Very good. It reminds me a little about a vintage pc game named Street Rod (and Street Rod 2). Nice of you to think about people with child wagons and wheelchairs :) Also practical if you have a rollergirl/boy serving directly to the cars.
  17. The tridents on the white one is an improvement,
  18. Cool building with great character Especially the ground floor.
  19. 1 Pet shop (modded) 1 Detective Office (modded) 1 Grand Emporium 1 Palace Cinema (soon to be looted for dark tan bricks) 1 Parisian Restaurant I am not a collector, but I can appreciate some of the sets. The PR is well thought out and I can not find anything I want to change. The GE I want to make changes on the exterior like Erol has done, and the inside needs a fix. The PC I didn't like to begin with, but it is growing on me. I Intent to loot it for parts, but I may rebuild it or take it apart and use some of it to build a drive in cinema. I am working on the DO to make it fit my city. I have already ripped it for the brick profile flesh bricks, but I am planning on making an outside staircase for both buildings (and maybe a few MOCs while I'm at it). The Pet shop is now red (because I need the colors to make a MOC) and will be converted to a fishmonger (placed next tp the PR).
  20. I have seen a train related building (I think it was a train station) with possibly 3 wide windows, but I could not find it now. It was built using transparent plates placed horizontally. Something like this: https://www.flickr.c...ega/7529155978/. You can also do it the easy way and build the wall in 2 bricks deep, having the windows on the inner layer, and build the opening on the outer layer 3 wide. Edit: The train forum are underestimated on their house building skills. I've seen a lot of immensely impressive train related buildings. I wish they could be listed in the town forum as well, or that there was an index of all buildings independent of theme.
  21. That's true. Thank you for pointing that out. I have not decided yet about what they should produce yet. How I end up making the interior and production line, will dictate what it will end up as. I will try to fit it into the history of my city. I want to make a realistic infrastructure and topography that makes sense, but have not decided location and why it became a city in the first place. I am thinking of a former trade location for crops of some sort, with a museum showing some of the finds from old (colonial, a few caste items), that have converted to more of a tourist based/locally produced products, but I am early in the process. I plan on having an old city, with some buildings from every blossoming period preserved, some ruins, some old but modernized buildings, and a few new buildings. For all the purists out there, be warned for this and my coming MOCs. I must admit that I am cheating, because of a loose brick lot I bought without making sure it was Lego. So the roof side windows and some of the green 2x4 bricks (slightly darker green) is not Lego. My lack of windows makes me have to use them until I get a proper supply of real windows going. Although the windows look ok for now, they are fragile and very prone to discoloration.
  22. Thank you. Possibly moonshine. Unsure if the hipsterpreneur upstairs have recieved his brewing license yet :)
  23. I am working on my first MOC, using bricks that I already had (with the exeption of the 2x8 dark red slopes on the roof that I PaB'd at Outlands, Oslo). I got surprised how much that falls into place while building freestyle, and how much I enjoyed making a building that way. I have a few LDD MOCs where I am going over everything in much more detail, so it was refreshing to build with real bricks. I started with the roof, with only a slight idea about the color scheme. So far I like how colorful it seems to turn out and at the same time has some realism. I am planning on keeping the outside ventilation, but it looks a little bland on the short side of the second floor, so I might move the ventilation and place a door with hook for lifting up ingredients. The baseplate is a crossing, simply because I don't have enough baseplates. The sign only says rum at the moment, because I'm not very good at coming up with original names. And I just wanted to get a feel of the whole building, so I can see where I need to make adjustments. Entrance and delivery platform. Brewery [MOC,WIP] by Sir_Stig, on Flickr Sorry for the bad pictures, I have a lot to learn about photography and photo editing. I don't really know how a brewery looks inside, but I am trying to get most of the production steps in there (just now realized I need to cool down the liquid before they go on to the maturing casks). Feedback and comments are welcome :)
  24. I believe that belongs in the rumour thread. Although, I have to agree that would be brilliant. Would give all the minifigs some more places to live.
  25. I would only buy the Caterham of those, because I think it is a better build. More realistic, more technical details and a wonderful showpiece that non-Lego fans could appreciate (Also, I think I would be allowed to have it on display in the living room).
