  1. The front looks good on the first picture, the rigging is good and you got the flags pointing in the right direction. The anchor looks a bit strange where it is. I think it would look better if you move it forward. The angle on the second picture is not so lucky. I see that the front swings in, but it appears to be square at first glance. The overbuilds is also massive. You could try different slopes (curved or regular), and/or break it up with some texture.
  2. This depends on what faction you want to join. They are all pinned in the BoBs main forum. You can read more them there and choose between; Eslandola (merchant empire), Corrington (science empire), Oleon (religious empire) and Sea Rats (Pirates, independent). Brief description.
  3. Then you are in for a very exciting experience. I slowly awoke from my dark age about a year and a half ago, and Lego have helped me relax and get in touch with my creative side again (especially helpful since I'm in a creative business). The learning curve never stops. My best advice: Be careful and consider what you need when using bricklink...
  4. Yes, I struggled with finding colors that matched, and were thinking about what colors could fit together. In the end I think my brain was exhausted. I can trim away some, and I will see if I have enough bricks to change the two shades of tan and grey. Maybe change the red trim on the top floor... Or, they could work better as 2 separate houses. I will play around with it a bit before starting to assemble it in the settlement. Thank you for the nice comments and the nice critique. I appreciate it, especially the critique helps a lot in seeing where I can get better.
  5. Sweet conversion of the viking boat Good first ship
  6. Your storytelling is magnificent! I really got carried away with it, like I would with a good book. You really bring the Fontanajo family to life. Nice little scenes as well.
  7. Thank you :) I plan on putting a building right next to it, probably on both sides. Hopefully that would make it fit into the era. My next residence I will try with overhang. I don't know why she has green hair. Maybe it's something contagious ;p I don't know how old Captain Green Hair is, but he certainly seem to be a popular guy.
  8. I like the scene where the cart is being assembled (2nd and 3rd picture), and the small edge on top of the counter (although the counter could be a bit taller). The red part underneath the roof is very noticeable. Maybe try adding some more touches of red, or connecting the roof pieces so that you don't need it. Good choice of city :)
  9. Colorful addition. The small palms makes the scene appear larger than it is. Approved
  10. Thank you :) As a matter of fact I am working on a blue commercial building for next month. And my last residence was also blue (and orange). Oleans are welcome in Bardo. There is a multitude of cultures in many Eslandolan settlements. You may even practice your religion here, as long as you follow Eslandian and MCTC laws.
  11. Good neighborhood
  12. Yet another building in Bardo is ready to welcome everyone that seeks the good life: Good neighborhood
  13. Ayrlego, that is one sweet looking ship, fit to ride the tropical waves of the south-eastern brick seas. If Corrington can not raise the capital to float your boat, she could perhaps help serve Corrington interests, only carrying the flag of Eslandola.
  14. You got all the most important elements of a horse farm. Water trough (nice), half eaten bale of hay and training grounds. Good work. I must agree that the building would stand more out with a different colored roof.
  15. This is my fourth and final free build of the month. I tried to add some more texture, details and sombre colors on this build. Approvals and critique most welcome. Word spread quickly that there was something going on in Bardo. Almost every boat brought extra passengers that were seeking opportunities for a good life on this wonderful island. Victor had gotten hold of several houses, which he converted for rental purposes. Most people could not afford their own house yet, so to make them feel welcome he provided a place to call home until they hopefully settled for good. A possible tenant had just inspected one of Victors newest aquisitions. There was already a woman, very fond of flowers and such, renting the upper floor. Victor had not gotten around to talk to her yet. Every time he passed the shutters was closed and no one answered the door, so she must be a busy woman. Round the back, was her entrance. The stairs just behind an old palm tree. At the moment she was changing the earth on one of her plants... Edit: Hmm, I forgot to change the window shutters on the back, and I tried a snot technique on the ground floor that I did not get pictures of. I will add a picture of that after my camera battery is charged, if I still have some light.
  16. Welcome to Eslandola. And the MCTC! Good choice, monsignor. You really made an effort with those flags. Cool sigfig and I've never seen that scroll piece before.
  17. Wonderful ship. The oars serve as a very nice decorative effect as well as being practical.
  18. Tomsche: Do you corries always have to be so hi-tech? I always loved engraved bricks when I was a kid. Still do. How did you make those?
  19. I'll answer as far as my understanding goes. You could always buy and licence a ship someone else have built. As long as your story and allegiance fits into the corrington empire(or another faction if you should change your mind), I see nothing wrong with having another heritage. It's not like everyone in Britain are of british descent. You can have several interests and/or use side characters. You can read more about skills here:Character Development Skill Trees / Achievement System
  20. As long as I pull the ends they go around in where they should. However, the rows move simultaneously. I pulled one string carefully at a time, and was surprised how smooth it went. I've been thinking that I can actually make a working version, but I'll let it rest as it is. Except adding a wheel, as suggested.Thank you everyone for all the kind words, critique, suggestions and approvals. It was my main project in january, so it is nice that it was recieved so well. I've been thinking about making a build like this for a long time, based loosely on a local factory/workshop. It will be one of the first focal points in my BoBs setup.
  21. Yeah, nice flag, not to mention the sneak peak of the harbor taking form. Oh, there I mentioned it...
  22. I also appreciate that some studs are showing. It can be used as a decorative effect. Sure, there are some brilliant builds that where there is no visible studs, and I must admit it is pleasing to look at. But it should not limit what we aspire to build, because no normal person have that amount of tiles or snot pieces to make everything stud free all the time. Studs are a central part of Lego.
  23. Ah, of course. Not only registered a free licence. I was not thinking clearly If any steps are taken to tweak the balance, I would like to know.
  24. Interesting, they are travelling sideways... Maybe it is time for the natives to step aside and let some Eslandolans take the reins.
  25. So much detail packed into that little sloop. She is perfect. Brilliant sails and rigging as far as I know. Moar pictures!
