[WIP] Cipher Wheel
MajklSpajkl replied to Berthil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Alignment of the cyphers at Fitzgeralds counter mostly depends on fine-tuning of the drums. I tried my best but it is indeed rather hard to make it perfect. And yes the slack between so many gears doesn't help either. -
@Teo LEGO Technic So far, so good. I really like the compact front axle. Could you provide some more photo material to study/copy? :-D @pagicence Your truck looks really nice. Have you built it already? I am affraid that your drive shafts have a very good chance of grinding/skipping gears - that corner connection with black 12 tooth gears is not braced at all.

[WIP] Cipher Wheel
MajklSpajkl replied to Berthil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, for now I only have a rather bad photo, but I'll try to upload the video of the whole setup soon. My version is a variation or an interpretation of the one by James Fitzgerald (video below). What I didn't like there, was turning of every other drum in a different direction, because I find it rather unrealistic - at least I think that in the real counters, all drums roll down, so I added additional gearing to achieve all the drums are running in the same direction. Although there was a price to all this gears - the counter needs help at turning the fifth drum (10k) because there is just to much gears to turn by just one ball. If anyone is curious, those are home-made stickers, printed on a transparent sticker sheet for laser printers. I was really satisfied with the outcome. But - those brick built drums by Berthill look way way better. I'm looking forward to see the end result. -
[WIP] Cipher Wheel
MajklSpajkl replied to Berthil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, looks really good! So is the gearing hidden inside the wheel? Regarding that 26000 per day. I just returned from our lugs weekend event. My small GBC setup which included a mechanical ball counter ran for 8+5 hours straight. 18919 balls ran through the counter in 13 hours. I know, it's only 0,40 per second in average although the module kinda put out 1 per second. I don't really mind the losses because the visitors were dropping jaws all over the place :-) I wonder if anyone actually got 1 ball per second on average per event... -
Wow, I love it! Looks and performs really good. Could you perhapse share the links to the both gamepads you used in the video. Which one would you recommend best? Get well soon, Best regards, miha

Excellent review and fabtastic photos . Given the rareness of this set, the prices on the aftermarket will skyrocket and I see no hope of getting one at all ;-)

Great oportunity and very nice prizes. Unfortunately time window is rather short... at least for me.

[MOC] Truck 6x6
MajklSpajkl replied to Dalafik's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks fantastic!!! Performance is not everything you know :-) -
Looks really good and drives good as well. I thought thought that it would steer bad because of long tracks but works perfect. Do you know if the real half-tracks were steered only by the front wheels? I would imagine that different speed of left and right track would also help but i guess that would be rather complicated to achieve only with the steering wheel and without electronic at that time.

This is amazing, will you be able to present a video as well? What tires did you use? Good luck and all the best best!

@Jim, not that it really mathers, but I think it would be fair to mark all or none of the disqulified entries with the disqualifying mark in the entry topic. At the moment only one entry has been marked...

Congratulations to well deserving winners. Love the mugs as well Well done EB Technic team!

Thanks for the explanation - if I understood you well - the actual tank also had front driven sprockets? Are rear driven sprocekts more common or not?
-
Wow, I love those renders and animations. Good job on the tank as well. I find it a bit less appealing that those treads tend to "deform" on the front. Is this caused due to front driven sprockets? I guess front driven sprockets pushes them below the driving wheels instead of being pulled from behind.

[MOC] Ford Focus RS 500
MajklSpajkl replied to DugaldIC's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Fantastic job! I love the front half of the car the most. Headlight and the mask are pure joy to look at. Too bad we won't be able to take a sneak peek into the model instructions, but that is totaly reasonable if it is meant to be one of a kind. My only thought of improvement would be a bit more editing to the photos which are a bit too dark IMHO. Some playing with shadows and highlights would make the car pop out much more. However, this observation doesn't mean that this creation is nothing but a masterpiece -
Very good!!! It looks fantastic. I like the front a lot - and those long lines from front to end . Maybe the back, behind those curved panels above rear whells, looks a bit messier compared to the rest of the car, but that is just a minor observation. Congratulations again!
