Well, this is a digital contest, so the images of your entry should be about the digital model, but including a picture of the real deal isn't a problem. (You can always link to more) Technically speaking, a .gif is an image, so you may include a gif as one of the six images. Well, rules are rules... But, what rules are you talking about?

I can make an LDraw file for you if I have the needed pictures and LDD files. @D3K Nice moc! The rotating structure at the front looks a bit high compared with the cabin, but that's not a big problem. Very nice moc and I'm looking forward to the video

Yes, sure, no problem. The 6 images rule is only about the entry post (to keep the page from being cluttered with images). All other websites, topics, postings etc. you make regarding your model has nothing to do with the contest and is totally up to you Btw, a bit off topic, but your "My brickset" link in your signature is not working except for you. Because it links to the profile page of the current logged in user on the pc, everyone just sees his own profile. You should search with your username in the search box (click members) and then copy-past the the link and make sure your profile name is in the link. You can also just change this link with your own Brickset username: http://brickset.com/profile/Legolijntje Just a note

Great work afol1969 I know how much work it is, to make good instructions for a Technic model of this size. Well done!

What do you exactly mean by that? If you mean having some functions in your model: no problem at all, that's up to you
-
No problem with that, it even says you can do that in the entries thread Your link isn't working though

Best computer spec?
legolijntje replied to grum64's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Well, there's nothing wrong with TLC cells. They are a bit slower yes, but Samsung solved this problem by adding a slc cache. The 840 pro has almost the same speeds as the 840 evo or even faster, take for example a look at these test results. The Plextor, well, that doesn't count, that's a PCI-E ssd But seriously, PCI-E ssd are still very new. It doesn't mean that when a faster ssd is in existence the slower ssd are not high-range anymore. But in the end, you won't notice a 100mb/s extra on top of ~500mb/s in everyday use. Let's close this discussion now, it's getting a bit off-topic -
Best computer spec?
legolijntje replied to grum64's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Samsung EVO is certainly not mid-range. It's one of the top-ssd at the moment. Although it has tlc cells (=slower writing and less write cycles) it has a slc cache (so it becomes super fast at writing. And, on top of that it's also one of the cheapest per gb at the moment. It's a win-win. Note: The magician software with the ssd (which is a must to install I would say) has a turbo option, which uses the ram as a cache, which makes it over 1gb/s, but it's cheating -
I really want to build it, I have about 96% of the parts. I only need a few beams and a shit-load of panels. And those panels are quite expensive compared to other parts....

Best computer spec?
legolijntje replied to grum64's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes, it is a quad core and it is a mobile device, but still... Compared to the other specs the cpu really is behind of the rest. It's not neccesarily a bad cpu, but 2,4 ghz is a bit low. I mean, there are already smartphones with about 2,4ghz (although you can';t really compare cmartphone cpu and pc cpu). The turbo might be a 3,4ghz, but it's better to not use it too much in a laptop, as it will produce more heat. It would be good enough of course for what grum want's to do. -
Best computer spec?
legolijntje replied to grum64's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Are you sure the cpu is only 2.4 ghz? It is pretty low for today's standards... Other specs are great though (especially for a laptop, are you sure it's a laptop? ). These are quite high specs (except for the cpu) and this is by far enough for ldd and SR3D, you can easily play aaa+ games on that thing in HD at high settings with about 60fps... You might want to take a external hdd for video editing. The ssd isn't large and it is recommended to do video editing on a hdd, since a ssd has a limited amoun of write cycles per cell (although you can video-edit on the sdd without worrying too). Don't worry about it though, because endurance tests show the drive will keep going until you buy a new one But keep the sdd in any case. I have an ssd myself, and it's one of the best upgrades you can do to your pc these days. The start-up speeds of Windows and software is just magnificent. It really shows that all our technogloy is fast enough, but the old hdd is the bottleneck. -
[Software] LDD Manager
legolijntje replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
First of, let me correct you at a point: LDD does exist, the DesignByMe service has stopped There aren't really any other places to buy your bricks, except Bricklink. The site may look very outdated and unintuitive (which it is), but the new staff is working at Bricklink 3.0 which should be a huge update to its current outdated look. First time users may have a lot of problems with Bricklink because of this unintuitive and complex layout, but I would recommend to google a bit, and use the software Brickficiency (you can find the topic somewhere here in the forum) to make an automatic search of where to buy your parts. Bricklink is very thrustworty though (of course, there will always a few scam users, but they are removed as fast as possible) and you can also look at a store's customer feedback. And if you have any more questions, you can always ask them -
Yes, you're right. Well, that's not a problem. That's a technique that I've seen in the past too with micro creations How you dare to not install LDD? But, I think most people think LDraw is difficicult to use, but it only depens on the software you use. For example, MLcad is not very easy (but very powerful) and SR3D is quite easy to learn (but nobody dares to try it...).

As you can read in the first post of this topic, the current deadline is April 15th 24:00 GMT, so you still have a few weeks
-
Well, of course the problem is difficult to find. There could be a problem with the buffer exhange in combination with rotation-steps. What I discovered (that I didn't know before), is that you always have to place the rotation-step before the buffer-exhange retrieve command. Otherwise the parts get shown double. I don't know if this the problem in your case though...

D3K's MOCs
legolijntje replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would say the yellow wheels, they bring a bit of color in that black hole and give a bit of extra detail (on second place is the black wheel and please don't use the light-grey wheel, it looks out of place and ugly there). And, I would say the dark grey beam mudguards, because they look better together with the mudguards on the back. -
Digital Znap in Ldraw
legolijntje replied to 1963maniac's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Well.... there was a high chanhe that would happen.... Znap isn't used a lot... You could ask in the LDraw.org forum at the part requests if someone would be willing to model the part. If you give some good photo's from all the sides and why you would like to have it, maybe someone wants to help you and make the LDraw part. Znap isn't that commonly used...
