  1. I'm so happy I bough a bunch of those red soft axles a few years ago. It's not a nice situation though, with the Technic parts on Bricklink
  2. When there's only a LDD available of which I want to create LDraw building instructions, I always just build the model in my mind. I don't really need photo instructions when there is an LDD or there are a bunch of good in- and outside pictures. I just build the model in my mind and determine what the order of the parts should be to be able to build it (the order is of course very important with Technic models). While I do that, I add some simple steps and after that I refine my steps.
  3. Another uselessful machine from uefchen Nice work, I don't know were you get your inspiration from, but it's a great source. Nice work!
  4. Good news for a bunch of you: I'll be working (with help from Dikkie of course) on instructions. But, it will take at least a few weeks to get them done, Technic models are always more work than normal models.
  5. The old LPub (version 2 or 3 I believe) had an option to render all the steps with LDview or with POV-Ray, but in the newer version (version 4) that was removed. However, the newer version has some other updates and things that aren't in 3. And, the quality is a lot lower when rendering the steps using LPub and POV-ray, it will look like this (watch out! That's a very outdated page). I don't really know another way to render all steps in POV-ray, except saving every step in a seperate file...
  6. Yes... You're transparant is... very transparant, like invisible. Nice renders though
  7. Well, the mamximum amount of bricks depens an a bunch of factors, but the most important ones are your computer specs (especially your video card and amount of ram) and what bricks you use. But, LDD's own maximum amount of parts (so where it doesn't depend on your hardware anymore, but on the software) is around 30.000/40.000 I believe. Also, the bricks youuse affect the amount of parts you can use. For example, a large baseplate is only 1 part, but it has a lot of polygons and affecst the performance like a bunch of bricks. But, I'm more into LDraw than into LDD and there are people here on the forum who know more about it.
  8. I've been following this model since it started and it's really amazing! Great job!!! I really love this model I hope I can make an LDraw file and maybe even instructions.
  9. Wow, that's an interesting mini-tutorial there. Nice work papacharly!
  10. I think LeoCad's POV-Ray export thing is quite basic. I've never tried or used it though. But, the better way is to open your LDraw file in LDview (I recommend to use the beta version 4.2) and follow this amazing tutorial to render some nice images using pov-ray.
  11. Thanks very much for your offer, but I don't need a coupon now, I'm glad I could help. Yes, MLcad is the way to go then (or my favorite: SR3D Builder). Although, not all patterns are available in LDraw either, but still a lot more than in LDD. If you have any problems with MLcad (or other LDraw stuff) feel free to ask. There's almost always someone on the forum who can help solve the problem(s)
  12. First of, welcome to EuroBricks and this digital design subforum! For your question, well, the short answer is: you can't. You can't import bricks or decorations into LDD. And, those old bricks and decorations probably will never be added, because, well, they are old. You can render the image with LDD2POV-ray and replace the decorations with an image file of your own. So, if you create an image with the decoration you can render the image with that decoration instead of another one. Here is some more information. Do note that the decoration is still not in the lxf file, it's just in the rendered image. But, you can't really do anything more than that (without hacking stuff I don't know about, which is forbidden).
  13. I believe (so I'm not 100% sure) the missing parts MLcad (and LDview) are talking about are the springs in the suspension and some electronic detail stuff. This might be because of a part change in Ldraw (but I don't think so). I think the model is made in SR3D Builder, which does something strange with suspension and electronic parts that MLcad can't really handle. What I was talking about are the flexible parts, and they just aren't in the file at all
  14. Wow, the new colors really look better. It's like a perfect render And, I added that 3840px image to my wallpapers folder The car misses the flexible hoses though, maybe someone could add them?
  15. Doesn't the topic starter means that the bricks don't snap into place? Like they do in LDD. If you mean that, that isn't available in MLcad. It is available in SR3D Builder, which is also a LDraw based cad software. It's very good, it doesn't has all the options MLcad has to offer (yet), but it's a lot easier to use, especially if you come from LDD.
  16. Well, if you're asking.... It would be amazing if you could make a 3840x1080 wallpaper with all the Lego Technic supercars (853/956, 8860, 8865, 8880, 8448, 8070). Blakbird rendered something like that a while ago (but not in that size and without the 8070) which you can view here. But, it's quite a big project.... You need all 6 LDraw files. They already exist (although I'm not sure about the 8070), but I'm not sure if anyone has uploaded them on the internet.
  17. I just saw you render the images on 1920x1080. If you keep doing that (also with other models), you will build up a fantastic collection of wallpapers! Only "problem" is that I have a dual monitor setup and I use dual monitor wallpapers, so I have to stitch 2 1920x1080 together to makea 3840x1080 But, yea, it looks better and better. It's also interesting to be able to not only read but also see your progress. And, maybe at some point, you will reach the perfect imperfection to make it as realistic as possible
  18. Ah, I thought you were adding the logo with some kind of script to determine each stud.
  19. Hmm, well, indeed then it must be the "normal" dark-grey. It still looks a bit too greenish though.
  20. Can't you model your own lego stud text using the LDraw version as guidelines and add the new one on the studs? It doesn't seem to difficult if you know what you're doing with that MODO software.
  21. I know you're currently busy with the Lego logo on the studs, but I already forgot to mention this and I'll probably forget it again when I don't post it now Your dark gray looks not like the dark-grey (or to be precise, the dark-bluish-gray, normal dark-gray is the old version from pre 2002/2003) in real life and it looks a bit dark-greenish. Maybe this (outdated, but still useful) table might come in handy, if you avehn't seen it yet.
  22. Holy cow! The new renders look even better (and most importantly: less Mega-blocks looks ). I'm following this topic for sure If you need to find more LDraw models, you can always take a look here, if you haven't seen it yet.
  23. There are a ridiculous amount of tags on EB, some are even specially made for 1 person. Most tags don't really have criteria, but a user gets a tag when a staff member thinks they deserve it. Some previous contests on EB had special tags for the top 5 winners, it may be a good idea. I'll think about it
  24. I have another fact for you, Wikipedia is outdated. A few years ago that fact became a hit for some reason and it showed up everywhere, including Wikipedia. Nowadays there are already somewhere around 70/80 pieces for each person on earth. With a bit of Google you could find the exact number, because I read it on multiple sites
  25. That looks amazing, even though it isn't "complete" yet the thing is jaw dropping. Nice work!
