  1. Well, here in the Netherlands Technic is doing and in most toy stores, it has a normal shelf space and is not tucked away in a corner. I can imagine how annoying it is when you (in the USA) can't buy the sets you want to buy, while they are available in the rest of the world
  2. Hmm, very strange. Is it giving the message while it's downloading or when it starts downloading? Because in the picture you posted in te first post, it has already downloaded about 60%. So, it looks like the connection is cut for some reason. Very weird...
  3. As I said earlier, did you try to run it as administrator (if you have the rights to do so)?
  4. So, here is the next index update. Not a big one (and I wanted to build some model too, but I'm busy working on instructions), but nonetheless a very good update. A lot of space sets this time Thanks everyone for building Statistics for last release Records added between: March 31, 2014 and May 19, 2014 Number of sets: 48 ...whereof duplicates: 17 ...whereof alternatives: 0 ...whereof incomplete: 0 ...whereof irregular: 0 New Themes added: 0 New contributors Darats - 19 sets Top contributors Darats - 19 sets SpaceMan Nathan - 17 sets lego2lego - 11 sets papacharly - 1 sets I was in a helpful mood, so I thought because of the recent space madness here, I'll add this. I can easily see the missing sets, so these are the missing space sets: 1580 1593 6806 6807 6808 6825 6926 6931 6985 897 920 A bunch of UFO and Space Police 3 sets And, (almost) all Insectoids, Life on mars, Alien Conquest, Mars Mission, Exploriens and Roboforce sets The above list of numbers may include sets that are already in the database, but ar US/EU variants. If you spot one, please let me know
  5. Mybe because the film is now "old" and the sets start to be phased out a bit to make room for Technic sets
  6. Who/what is actually that ldr import team you and (virtualrepublic?) keep talking about? Did I miss something?
  7. Hmm, maybe the servers had a problem when you were downloading the bricks. You could try again today or tomorrow. If it still doesn't work, did you try to run LDD as administrator? I don't think it will solve the problem, but better be sure. And, you could also just redownload the LDD installer from the Lego website and just install that one. I suppose it has the newest brick version...
  8. That looks very nice, but I think the seams look a bit big at the bricks in the middle of the stairs. And,what are those weird yellow dots in the trans-yellow windows? But, you made some big progress already
  9. Well, there isn't really an answer. There are only speculations. Most people agree that it may be because of The LEGO Movie sets. The shops have a limited amount of shelf space and since Technic isn't a big hit un the US, the Technic sets are sacrifised for The LEGO Movie sets. Nobody knows if that is the true reason, but it could be...
  10. Well, I think you can share pictures of your MOC without a lot of worry. People can't sell the creation, because they don't know how to build it, unless you make instructions. But, believe me, it's very, very difficult to make a LDD file, let alone full instructions, from a bunch of (outside) pictures, especially for Technic models. Unless, of course, you take a lot of pictures from the inside or WIPs... So, there's no need to worry about sharing some images of your MOCs in my opinion. But, if it still doesn't feel right to you, don't do it. In the end, it's not a must, do what you like and if the liking stops at building, so be it
  11. Well, you could've used the link in that post... Anyway, here's a direct link, if you weren't able to find it. So, on the top right is a buy button, these instructions cost €10.
  12. But, why haven't you used an LDraw model if the LDD parts are of lower quality and even doesn't have some parts? For example, here is a model with all the stickers and pneumatic tubing too.
  13. I often look on marktplaats for a 8466 for a good price, but when I don't, there is one... Nice one!
  14. The first part is part 11214, it's a very new part. Which part do you mean on "picture" 29?
  15. Well, there are a lot of rendering programs for mac (I saw a good one lately, but I forgot the name ), but the problem is that you want to render LDD models and the only way to use LDD models is to use LDD2POVray, and as the name says, that one uses POV-ray and is only for Windows... You can of course export to LDraw, but the export isn't always verry good...
  16. That's an interesting way of snapping the bricks... I'm looking forward to see more progress reports
  17. It stands for LDraw Unit. Here and here is a bit of info about it.
  18. Yea, are we all looking at this wrong now, or did we look at it wrong while we were building and accidently did it right?
  19. That would be great to have all images in 1 spot/website. Of course it's interesting to see all those Lego sets rendered, but what is even more interesting (in my opinion) is to see all kinds of (mostly Technic) mocs to be rendered. There are a lot of instructions for sale for Technic models and that means all of them have LDraw files, but sadly, most of the time the LDraw file is not shared (because the instructions have to be bought), although Blakbird has most of them. Maybe you can arrange something with him
  20. Well, I have the instructions and I did build the model, but unless I was building something wrong which was actually good, but wrong in the instructions, I haven't had any problems... Phew, that's a vague sentence... But, I made a quick simple rebuild of the particular problem and yes, as it is shown in the instructions, the gear will touch the yellow part. It still doesn't make sense how I (and a lot of others) were able to build it and use it without problems...
  21. Well, you obviously placed something wrong, but the question is what. It's difficult to say without any pictures. Try looking carefully at the steps and try to see if you placed something wrong, either in that small submodel or in the main submodel.
  22. Well, if you have any questions regarding SR3D Builder, I'm the one to ask. I use it for years now and I love it. Some tips and tricks: I see you're using the "Alternative UI". It is on for default, but some people (like me) don't really like it. Turning it off makes bricks don't folow the mouse. Some people like it, some don't, just try out waht you like. If you go to View > Preferences > User Interface, try switching the Roation Mode to LDD like mode. I like that one a lot more than default. Again, this is personal preference, just try and see what you like. On the top bar, with the image buttons, there's a button left to the part type selection where you can turn "Dense Conns" on or off. Default is off and that's very useful, but sometimes you need to use the dense conns. For example, when you want to place a thin bush on an axles, it automaticly snaps to the bush on certain spots (on the end, half bush from the end, full bush from the end etc.). But, with dense conns on, you can palce the bush exactly where you on the bush, the bush only snaps on the axle and not onto a certain place on the axle. That's only an example, it has a view more use cases. These are only some general tips to make building even easier in SR3D builder. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask
  23. Wow. I would love to have MODO and get rendering all kind of stuff with that level of detail, but I think, even if I would be able to get modo (legally or not), it wouldn't be that fast (if it would work at all) on my machine I have a simple 3 year old AMD quad core on 3.5ghz (although together with my mobo it can run as a hexa core on 3.7ghz) and only 8gb of ram. It works great for what I do, but for that rendering....
