Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
LegoSjaak replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
If i were TLG i would also bring out some modular starter-sets... For example a park-set or a playground set... What i mean is a 16x32 baseplate with a relatively small building or park-like scenes with only about 500 pieces or so, that would give the modular block-scene some new arranging possibilities... On the other hand, buying a starter set like this may not be so very attractive, because it is still the larger buildings what it is all about.. Ofcourse anyone could MOC a park or so, but maybe with some creativeness it would add some nice extra playability for kids, especially now TLG seem to aim more at kids with the modular series.... -
Nice collection...but you should really take car of all those nice train-cars.....

Yeah...Al's Hairy Pets are on sale...!!

I carefully tried to make a nice mix of colors in my layout and placed the DO next to the Green Grocer... I would nut be a very good idea to place it next to PS as it would say 'Al's Hair Pets' in my case...

You should personalize someones head as such a mosaic and sell it through the internet.. i think it would be a nice present for a lot of people! You could try to make one look as yourself for instance.....??

Looks really good! The colors match perfect and i think the interior is as complete as it could be!! Getting thirsty of it already!!

Here is the latest picture after adding the fencing and completing the bike paths! Thanks Peedee! It was a lot of fun, but i could feel the little muscles in my fingers after some time.. pressing down the tiles again and again caused that....haha... About the trees.. here in the Netherands we often have a special kind of tiles to place around trees in shopping areas or crowded centres.. There is only some room left for the trunk and roots but for the rest it is covered. The tiles do drain rainwater, so else the trees wouldn't have any moisture... I could put some grille tiles around the trunks, but i'm not sure if that would look good though....

The last days i added 2 out of 4 extra large baseplates (48x48) to the modular square.... Still a lot of tiling to go... trees have to be built and also the benches and flowers....

The stairs on the back of the building look great....nice urban look!

Wout, thanks, that is a pretty good idea! I was always thinking of some kind of trailer, never of a vehicle like that ice cream car...i could download the instructions and make one in the traditional blue and white 'fishy' colours! I'll work this out and see if it fits the plan in my mind!

Thanx for your idea, but i think a fountain like the one from 10184 would be too small! I think a statue or fountain like ornament is the first thing after i have expanded the square! I would also like to add a dutch type of fish selling stand...we call it a 'viskraam'. I have never seen one in Lego....so maybe someone has an idea?

I am glad i inspired someone again! I love the feeling of having ideas and making plans that will look great. Next step is to bricklink everything and order it. Then it is again great when you receive the bricklinked bricks!Hope to see your car free space soon....bigger does not always look better!

Thanx, i never thought of how other countries do colour their bikepaths... At this moment i am working on tiling another row of 4 baseplates 48x48 studs. I sold my winter village and took some cash to orde another 2500 tiles..... As i am having my holidays now, a lot of time is spent with my kids, so it will take another week or so before it is ready. After that i will add some smaller creations like a newspaperstand and so on. As i sold the winter village sets (6 sets), i also bricklinked about 32 new villagers for the square.... hope to show some pics soon! Greetz, LegoSjaak

Good offer for my 6 Winter Village sets in a Diorama
LegoSjaak replied to LegoSjaak's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Thanks Paul, i think i will wait till november/december..but as i was selling a lot of stuff, i bumped into the Winter Village in the attic and thought that collecters would Always be willing to buy it from me.. Besides that, we in the Netherlands get an extra amount of money in May/June, so there could be some AFOL's with an extra budget...;-) Whenever there is someone who pays 650, i'll sell them.. if not, i will leave them in the attic till december.... Anyway they are all pretty and nice sets.. but as my kids grow older (and taller) they can reach the chest where the wintervillage is placed on around Christmas.. so before the year is over, they got to go...haha..- 9 replies

Thanx, there are indeed a lot of colors that willwork in this case.. For me this was the best choice! About pressing the 1x6 Light Bluish Grey Tile in the front of the GE..that is indeed the baseplate...i might stick a 1x6 tile on the spot where the GE meets the PS.....But what about the LBG cheese-piece on the right, on the facade of the first floor of that same GE?...haha. when you look thorough, you can even find more small failures.. I also saw the light of the parisien restaurant, under the awning, hanging not very straight.....will put it right tonight...haha!!! An all white minifig might be a nice choice... Not sure if ti will be a statue..maybe a work of abstract art...
