  1. Vinyl is getting more popular every day here in Holland......
  2. ...Hmm...i will consider doing this... they are indeed pretty big.... when i would bring them back to original sizes, i would have more space as well..so.. it is not a bad idea... and i could sell the sets....great idea!!! I never throw away the box... i cut them here and there, so i can store them flat, but i'll keep them all..Most people want boxes when i would sell my sets... My son also sort of plays with the sets... but what he does is putting vehicles and trains in the order he likes.. and then has his own story with it, about cops and crooks.... Thanx Timmy for your very kind words... We are pretty Lucky guys indeed to have a lot of modulars in our collection.... Always working on idea's...most of them are too expensive.. Now i'm thinking of ordering parts for another 5 big trees in front of the Town Hall.. there are three of them now, but i want 4 trees on both sides of the lane leading to the Town Hall.. ..i think i'm ordering them....i would look way better!! It is fun to share and inspire other people, just like i got inspired by videos and pictures of other people... Wish everyone could enjoy Lego like we do!!
  3. Besides the fact that the car looks stunning, i have never seen such a nice presentation of a moc.. those animations and pictures are done great!!
  4. With my bike...as i'm from Holland, i do most of my short rides with a bicycle... And if not.. i'll use my Peugeot 308 SW Family car...;-)
  5. i see your point.. and in fact you are right.. But i know for myself what is true and what not. Lightningtiger doesn't mean it the way you say it.. i've read too many posts of him to think he meant something not positive with his post. I do not have too much money..that is for sure.. i just spent my earned money on other things than other people do.. I drive a 5 year old second hand car instead of buying a new one each year... And talking about too much time.. well...everyone with two little sons of 5 and almost 2 years old, knows that there is not much time left for yourself... I've been working woth Lego since my childhood, but started back again in 2009. Since then i collected almost 100.000 bricks...and made this out of it.. Spending savings on Lego and selling stuff from other hobby's made it all possible for me... But don't be too hard on LT, as he is one of the most complementous posters on EB... thanks for the compliments, both of you!! Thanx Henk.. but i also started too late.. it is still possible to buy the Market Street, Green Grocer and Cafe Corner...okay, you have to pay a lot, but it is possible.. and all other sets are also more or less available..... It takes time..and don't be to eager when you see sets on 'marktplaats' and be sure you go get them, in stead of have them sent per post... and Always be sure that there is at least a booklet....or even a box.....Succes in collection these wonderfull buildings... !! Thanx LT, one never has enough money... i would like to tile the whole square, but that would take me over 3500 2x2 tiles... hmmm... And time... well..that is a problem as well.. yesterday i just had time to put in the new Detective's Office MOD and make a video....after that i had to get down from the attic to bath my sons...!
  6. Here a video of my modified modulars, all together in one layout.
  7. This was just in his profile: Last Active Today, 12:32 AM
  8. I like what you did with the round 1x1 tiles in the pavement.. it gives a classic look!
  9. This one is very, véry different... first, yours is a cornerbuilding..and second, your version has the car on streetlevel....
  10. Finally finished the whole MOD of the Detective's Office. Did some tiling as well. Hope you like it!
  11. I do not think it is for reason of cost, as we did get the flower cart anyway with ordering the DO.... It is just to make it more attractive that everyone buys it in the first week of january, instead of waiting for it untill it is offered cheaper at other shops... People get the idea that the flower cart is part of the DO.. so it is a must have..and the only way to get it, is to buy it at lego.com for the full price.. It is just as the Winter Village set.. the promotional was in the same style as Santa's house.. so it was a must have for the one who wanted to purchase Santa's Workshop... It is just to push people over the line of buying one.. A lot of AFOL's will tell their partner: If i purchase it now, it'll come with an extra set...so let me buy it now..!!! That is at least my idea...
  12. Although a lot of credits go to the designer of the 10197 Fire Brigade modular set, this is a really fine modular! The colors look great and match very well! I like the lighthouse-idea and i think you did a good job on that! I would definitely allow this building to have a place next to my own modulars!!
  13. Haha...that is pretty funny!! I also like the usage of those crook-tools....haha!! it must be the first time they were used in this way!!
  14. My first impression was, that it was a bit too TownHallish, but after seeing all pictures, i must say it looks great! Especially the living area's i like a lot.. I'm not a fan of Friends, and so that is not the best part, i.m.o.... You made a really nice cornerbuilding with lots of room and a very detailed interior!! Great work!!
  15. Talos, that is a nice addition.. i know myself how hard it is to squeeze in some extra's, even when the Highlander has a twice bigger room. I'll try to make some kind of bar in it as well, but have to search for some brown parts here and there.. It needs a bar, that is clear.. Where else should you get the drinks...first walk to the Parisian Restaurant, order a drink, take it outside and go to the 'High'....? I'll also do some tiling on the first and second floor.. it earns to be tiled, i think.....
  16. i do have two flowercarts, but one is already pretty big....but i must say you gave me some inspiration.....
  17. True colossus... it is indeed too bad that it takes two sets... On the other hand.. have a look at the pet shop...rooms inside are just as big, but i think there was less complaint about that.. When i see original pictures of the DO now, i think it really is small.. This 10-th set is the 7-th set that i bought a second copy of, just to make a proper building that appeals more to me.. Overall i like the original designs.. so i left the designs as they are..only made them wider and larger.....
  18. Wonderfull.... i love the tiling of the whole square...colors and details... it the work of a professional!!! Really great work!
  19. Here some pictures.. ...not surprising, i think, as i used almost only parts from 2 DO sets. ...hope you like it!
  20. Thanks LT, what do you think about making the darkbrown 'Building' in the back 3 bricks higer than the BBB (Blue Barber Building).... It would give somewhat more contrast.....or, that is what i would like to achieve with it.. Maybe i should just try, and see...
  21. I used only two Do's.....here and there i took a few spare parts....it turned out pretty okay to me.. now i have to do some work on detailing and interior of the first and second floor.... Thanks, i'll post some good pictures when i finished the whole building!
  22. Quote: LegoSjaak, yours looks really promising now, only thing I don't wuite like is that the brown 'building' grows out over onto the pool hall. Not sure wether that's realistic at all, at least in cities in Europe or North America. How wide is your version, btw? Looks like 56 studs? quote Roger, my version is indeed 56 studs.. I can imagine you do not like the brown building, growing over the pool hall, but when you would see it in real bricks, it really gives the building a lot of depth.. when you see it, it seems that there is another building in the background...and it intends that there are 3 buildings.. Yesterday i finished the roofing.. it is not ready, have to do some work on the backside and the interior.. but here is an update...
  23. Here someprogress after 3 days of modifying..i put an extra row of flesh brick-bricks underneath the windows on the front of the DO. What do you think of that.. ? The light grey row of curved bricks between the second and the third floor will be removed.....not happy with this light grey addition..... . . i also made a balcony on the backside of the detective's office..with two inside opening doors..
  24. I followed your idea, and just made a lower-case 'r' and i think it worked out pretty well.. .it is recognizable as an 'R' and fits in very good as well! Here a picture of how i ended up! I'll post some real good pictures when i finished the whole building...;-) I did Dan's solution.. it was simple and effective..and it fit perfect! But now i do have a problem with the emergencyladder.. as the darkbrown 'building', or hallway is widened with six studs to the left..the ladder should be positioned through the roof of the Pool hall....hmm... we'll see tonight... ! This could have done the job too...
