@rm8 Thank you very much. It is really old nickname, but I try my best to fulfill it's meaning both in aesthetics and engineering.

Lets talk color vomit
HorcikDesigns replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The right question is stated inversely - what can't this part do that regular 4L can? And the answer IMO is: It does not require additional bracing, when built right, to secure it from slipping out of the hole, or application from @Meatman 's comment. And also to minimize friction in geartrain, and make portals in Crawler set nearly impossible to disassemble. -
Thank you. I am really glad you like it. :) I bet you'll end your research with many flaws, when looking closely. For example - the floor under the seats is too high, that it is impossible to imagine person driving it in comfortable, nor anatomically acceptable position. :D That is the reason I built it this way. :) I've been also thinking about making this with some of the original sets.

Thank you all! I am really glad that you like it. Had a nice time in my improvised photo studio with this car and this model I met somewhere in shopping centre. I think the mall's name had something to do with bricks and links. Enjoy! Hi, I would like to show you my new MOC. it is Leadsled, that I once promised to build. 1K - Cutaway Leadsled by Horcik Designs I wanted to build big red car, that would fit nicely on display next to my Tatra T2-603. (visit my Flickr or Scale modelling forum here to find photos of it) It features 4-forward gearbox, working steering wheel, no HOG (it is display model), huge but fake V8, openable doors with locks, openable trunk with gravitational lock (it is too heavy to stay opened) and detachable hood. And loads of minor details and holes. What?! 1K - Cutaway Leadsled by Horcik Designs, on Flickr 1K - Cutaway Leadsled by Horcik Designs, on Flickr This MOC was directly inspired by cutaway technical drawings of cars. In my opinion, all original Technic model were supposed to look like 3D-ized cutaway drawings. These might be 4L pins here. What do you think? Or is it 2L pin with axle?

I am fascinated by the work your suspension setup in first part of the video (the parking lot). it's reaction to the curb is just mesmerizing. Good job!

[MOC] Wedge car
HorcikDesigns replied to HorcikDesigns's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you all! I am glad you like it. :) There was no room for ordinary springs or torsion bars under the hood, so the RBs act like part of suspension. I did not know this car existed so far, but now I can not imagine better original model for 40 years anniversary MOC. :D (pun indeed) -
[MOC] Wedge car
HorcikDesigns replied to HorcikDesigns's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I accidentally met on the street the first generation this week (it is rare in my country) for the first time in person, and I must admit, that these two are really similar. :D Thanks! -
I've been thinking quite long, what to build for 40 years anniversary of LEGO Technic, that's why I am slightly late for the party with this model. Then, suddenly an idea was born - build a car that looks like the wedge-shaped supercars from 70'. (mainly because I do not meet large amount of them re-created from Technic so often) Features: full suspension, positive caster angle on front wheels inline 3 cylinder engine right behind seats, single headlamp that will pop out if you push the yellow lever, working HOG with working steering wheel, openable doors and openable engine bay cover with absurdly long exhaust pipes. So, here is my attempt to build it. I hope to get back to this topic soon with proper supercar scale. concept WEDGE by Horcik Designs concept WEDGE concept WEDGE wedge chassis concept WEDGE Hope you like it. PS: If you want to see another MOC soon, please start following my activity on Flickr. (after reaching 1000 threshold, I'll submit something special )

[MOC] Trophy Truck
HorcikDesigns replied to P3T3R's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey, this is the cutest truck I have ever seen. I like it! Many interesting techniques (one for all: using panel and pin-hole connectors under front axle). But the rear axle needs to better bracing, the connection shown on the pictures and video will cause the wheels will slip in after few meters of riding. -
Looks like great fun! However, I must say it - poor gears in the drivetrain. Is this setup built in this way because of torque-protection of the U-joint?

I meant one stud higher in it's roof section, even for the Force version (not combined), if possible. ;)
-
In the initial post of the topic are pictures of T815-7 cab (low cabin), which I pressume is the cab that @Teo LEGO Technic built, but maybe am I wrong. (815 from the video that is on the top of site 2 is high (civilian) (and older) version). So or so, one extra stud would make it - relative to axles travel - slightly better, even with the T-Force style cab, IMHO. T815-7:

I did not measured/counted it, but I guess above 4000. -

The MOC is your. You decide. I just really like TATRA chassis system, so inclination of the axles in static position that your chassis allow can not me leave not-commenting. ;) Here is video showing 3D model of T-Phoenix chassis (on the miniature are shown rear axles in extreme positions, the front one approximately in neutral)
-
Eh, find some pictures and videos of real trucks in extreme conditions (e.g. at prooving ground tracks, TATRA has very nice one), there it will be clearly visible, that the halfaxles can not move to angles similar to your MOC, even when fully unloaded (in air), and when it starts climbing, the last alxles on 6x6 goes up in order o allow middle wheels to stay still in contact with ground. For example, here is image to slightly illustrate (not accuratelly) what I said. https://goo.gl/images/Mqbj2C
