Wow, it looks sweet. I really like it. Looking forward to see next progress. Keep up good work!

The vehicle's functions are aimed to maximize playability, so all controlling knobs and one button are placed on sides and roof. The vehicle has working V6 fake engine and 2 rear axle steering with different steering angle (even in maximally mad postapocalyptic world should be some basic rules to build well-behaving vehicles). Steering is controlled with the dkBrown 2×2 round brick on the roof. Then there is front attachment, that is powered by front wheels, but not continuously, there is a switch operated by 2L liftarm on the roof. The attachment is permanently connected with the vehicle. Rising and tilting of the front attachment are independently controlled by obligatory signal lights from the roof, that are connected to three small LAs (2 rising, 1 tilting). On the back there is a wrecking arm, that can extend (crank on left side of the vehicle) and elevate (crank on right side). Next to the crane arm is the Light bullish gray thing, that is in fact the most complicated mechanical device of the truck, a button-operated minelayer. The trigger-button is located right behind the cab and is not clearly visible current photos. By pressing the button you turn the shutter on the end of the minelayer, that releases just 1 "mine" (yellow 2L connector with 1L liftarm). The following mines are stopped from falling by rubber element, that turns in opposite direction and with 1/3 of angle of the shutter. There is also a tiny machinegun on one side, that is attached to side-mounted platform, that can unfold when needed. It can also be used as bridge to allow passengers of my rig to jump to another car that we meet on the road. Do you want to hear a backstory of this truck? It was probably found on an abandoned farm in the wastelands and is used mostly as a freelance recovery vehicle. However, if the recovered crew is not generous (fuel is the best gift, right?), this truck can wreck them again in seconds. Instructions: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-41429/Horcikdesigns/pdf-harshharvester-custom-madmax-vehicle/#comments Well, I hope you like it. I enjoyed the build really well, so I would like to say big thanks to organizers. _____________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________ Original WIP post: Well, to be honest, I have never seen any MM movie, and I do not plan to change it in near future, but building road warrior vehicle seemed like serious challenge to me, and also great fun. Almost immediately have I came up with an idea what to build. It is supposed to have front chassis from combine harvester, body from tractor or truck (not sure yet), and many manual functions. I choose green-tan-gray colour for body and dark red or red on wheels. I hope to add updates regularly, at least in form of teaser. [TCM1] 8081 110 Pickup
HorcikDesigns replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, it looks awesome! I really like the look of it, the way the original car in front seamlessly blends with new extended body, it all combined with your clean building style and that harsh tractor tires (Fischertechnik?), makes an awesome MOC. I also really like the fact that you managed to make completely new chassis for it. Is LDD file or more photos of the chassis without the body available? ;) -
Thank you very much @johnnym for your kind words, questions and comments! I'll try to answer them. - I wanted to make the third door also with inclined side supports, so the central column is necessay to make them openable. I am glad that you mentioned the brake light above the rear window. :) Trans red panels would look super cool, but then I'd need to change the design of my entry a little, and I would problably need these panels in trans clear too. :D - The window edges are connected with small cut-off piece of 3mm hose, that could be put inside axle hole in 2L half liftarm and also pneumatic tube. Straight sections of the frame are 3mm rigid tube, the bent sections are made out of pneu-hose. - Answer to your question concerning inverted slopes is quite simple. I do not have enough of these currently in my collection, that are not used in other projects, or aren't yellowed. And using these would allow me to attach the cheese slopes or other similar shape-makers on the stud. :) - I am quite busy right now, and can't say when I won't be, but I would definitely like to make instructions in form of 3D model of it and upload it to Rebrickable.

@Maaboo35 You're right, I see the similarity now too. :D The green would look awesome, but I like the white version, because it looks clean.

Hi, You can find photos of this MOC can be found on my Bricksafe and also on my Instagram (soon). https://bricksafe.com/pages/horcikdesigns/8081-remake And if you want to build it, you can too! This MOC has been uploaded to my Rebrickable profile with full PDF guide! https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-34705/Horcikdesigns/concept-car-8081-hommage/#bi (MOC-34705 Concept car, 8081 hommage) The idea was to build new car, a full-fledged successor of previous model, the legendary 8081. Because the old car was out of date from safety and legal reasons, my RnD center had to come up with completely new chassis. However, although it is built from scratch, it is still the original and well-known 8081. It has rear wheel drive, powerful fake engine (with two more cylinders than the original car) in the front, double wishbone (almost) suspension in the front and live axle in the back. It is still a sporty SUV GT coupé you all liked, not a pick-up supposed to work and carry loads, or luxurious and oversized familyhouse on wheels. However, you can still fit some luggage (or boxes with your MOCs, when you're going to some LEGO convention) in the trunk. In the cabin there are two comfy seats, that were inspired by the seats from other car manufacturers, who pay attention to ergonomy of any, even slightly atypical figures. In front of them is cutting edge dashboard with sophisticated infotainment system, for both driver and even for the passenger. The passenger's screen has access to dedicated social media, for example Headzbook (brickheadz refference). Behind the seats is a bench, where only some minifigs can comfortably sit down. The front bumper is modular assembly. This feature should stay even to serial production version, because we would like one day to offer also the "heritage edition" bumper, which would ressemble the original model. (not really, but who, knows, it would be nice addition to the story of this MOC...). If you look at the rear of the car, you can see single exhaust pipe. Well, it is just a fake one. This is is supposed to be my entry for 8081 rebuild challenge. I hope it won't be disqualified, because it has not very much in common with the original car at first sight.

@sirslayer Hey, That is nice idea for the front axle. Have to try it too.

Maybe am I just too slow in exploring my Defender, and I have to owe myself that I am not an attentive reader of this thread, but did somebody noticed yet, that the original axles on the 42110 are prepared for installation of 42099 CV joints instead of that old U-joints? Might it be some relict from the development stage? Or just minor preparation for motorization that is @grohl making right now only with parts from 42099 set?

Thank you! I know, that the color does not go well with the background, but because my car is still in WIP phase, these photos are still more a teaser than real presentation. sorry for inconvenience. The original car also had oversized wheels IMO, so my interpretation of it has to have them too. Rear fenders are not shown yet on any photo. :) The headlight are made from ExoForce optical fiber. Trans clear 4L lightsabre blades are too expensive on BL right now. The transparent connector piece should be original, it only appeared in one set (according to BL https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32016&in=S) I'll make more photos as I think that the car is finished, and I hope it will be soon. @sirslayer Wow, that fenders look really good on your car! Good job!

42110 - Land Rover Defender
HorcikDesigns replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So good. -
I am working on it too. Just hope that 8081 successor built completely from scratch fit the rules of this contest. My MOC should carry on original model's spirit and basic functions. I also decided to stick with almost original drivetrain, so my car is RWD, with V6 in the front. I had to give up the black colour, because with it the car looked plain and too monochrome, and also because I wanted to play with "windows area" divided from the rest of the car by it's colour. Clean conceptcar look is nice bonus. Rear light are inspired by the original car, but also by some real vehicles. sketches of supposed original model and my version with early WIP shots (were shared in another topic yet: Almost current version Rear end and frontend on current state of this MOC. Hope you like it. :)

This is the reason why I decided for two-door version. Four door with my front section solution does not ressemble the original well. The hood is too long, and the current cab is too small, relative to the hood. I'll try to rebuild it. I also tried to sketch the original 8081 as real car, trying to find basic and most characteristic styling elements.
-
@Thirdwigg Thank you, I am glad that you like it. Wheelbase of my version is currently variable parameter with values between 28 and 35 studs, as the cab (more precisely, first sketch of it) looks too small relative to the engine bay. Maybe I should build the original 8081 first, to get size comparison... And I think I'll build the 2door version, in order not to have all entries with 4d-s. :)
