  1. @pagicence I think so too. :D I had the model assembled for a long time, so i got slightly bored of the roll cage. Without it it looks slightly cleaner, in my opinion.
  2. Here are some new photos: TATRA T815 by Horcik Designs, on Flickr TATRA T815 by Horcik Designs, on Flickr TATRA T815 by Horcik Designs, on Flickr

  4. Looks interesting, I look forward to see it grow. Where does the DBG 5×7 liftarm frame, seen under the banana gears on first photo, come from?
  5. Thank you! The firetruck (another MOC based on this one) unfortunately will not be fully RC, because I need other IR receivers in other MOCs, and gearbox for more than 2 independent functions sounds like bigger challenge to me. Thank you very much. I know it is not 100% accurate, but because I've already built many single driveshaft Tatras (I got slightly tired of them), I decieded to try this time something new, to explore new possibilities and it's behaviour. Mostly because the front axle, that was the initial part of it. Maybe I'll try to rebuild the rear axles to proper halfaxle setup, but because I really like the compactness of the front, the front section will probably stay the same.
  6. @ArsMan064: Thanks, but this MOC is RC yet. The semi-RC, that was mentioned in the first post is not finished yet. @Leonardo da Bricki: Thank you for your daring, it is nice to read. I hope to make the video on the competition, but it depends on time and weather. @Aleh: Thank you. :)
  7. @Thirdwigg Thank you. :) This year's season is dedicated for much bigger trucks, this one is going to stand out of competition. @I_Igor Thank you. :) The wheels are painted. (I've got a thing for black wheels) :D
  8. Thanks! However, this truck is remotely controlled, thus RC (in PF style), and is not going to be used as a racetruck during the LTTT race (where, I know, almost every truck use cable-control because of weight of the truck)
  9. Hi, I would like to show you my attempt at improving @Teo LEGO Technic's Tatra front axle. You can find it's WIP topic here: Well, back to my MOC ( ). Scale - 1:20 Performance: Indoor terrain - satisfying Outdoor - not measured yet (will be tested on 4th race of LTTT (Czech Lego truck trial championship) at 21.7.2018) electronics installed (now): propulsion: XL motor (I also planned to try double PF Ls, but I need them in another MOC right now.) steering: M motor (can you find it? it is almost hidden) powersource: Li-po BB, controlled by: PF IR. INSTRUCTIONS: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-16054/Horcikdesigns/tatra-t815-120-truck-trial/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=approvemoc&elid=672967#parts VIDEO: Tatra T815 1:20 - TruckTrial T815 chassis by Horcik Designs, on Flickr EDIT: In near future, I plan to rebuild this truck to firetruck Tatra T815 CAS32 (or similar) which will be semi-RC (with manual functions (watergun movement, and some other) and with RC drive - I need other IR reciever in other MOCs, and building a gearbox seems like fun). (this truck (Truck Trial) is fully RC))
  10. I really like this MOC - maybe even more than my LEGO version of this car. :D (I look forward to the instructions, in case the video reaches the threshold)
  11. @pagicence I considered using the 62,4 mm tires ( 32019 ? ), but the tread does not look distinctive and agressive enough. Plus, I really like these old school tires in recent days.
  12. I did not complained the position, only the scale. About the windscreen, I did not meant adding some glass, only some bars that would respect the slope of real thing. Your current version is strictly vertical. It is awesome-looking MOC, with ideas made nearly to perfection, but some things could be done better, IMHO. :) (I have to consider trying to reverse-engineer this chassis, the springs work almost flawlessly)
  13. Please read this as reaction from man, who really likes Tatras, built many of them from LEGO, and was really looking forward to see experienced builder's attempt at building another Tatra truck. It has stunning chassis, which makes me wonder whether it is still LEGO, good tire choice, really interesting video, nice body that in some spots screams for more details (windshield), but the thing that I really do not like is the horribly monstrous (in this scale) fake engine, that looks like something violently crammed inside the cab and the steering wheel, that looks odd. It might have been a nice scale model, with decent performance, but that engine willfully sitting in the cab, that is slightly disproportional (?) and needs some more angles here and there, leaves me slightly disgusted and disappointed. Sorry. Building Tatra truck is difficult, and you did awesome job with it, but I prefer looks to the functions.
  14. Thank you! Right now is detachable is only the roof, but rebuilding it to make modular and detachable whole body is really good idea. I have no more RC wheels and tires, so no. what's more, I do not want to have there in the back larger wheel than the current one.
  15. Well, modified version is ready to hit the road. Eh, hit off-road. I do not plan to make on-road test. I plan to make video of the modified version sometimes during summer. Should I find new environment for it, or go back to the pond from the original video? Modified heretic Modified heretic Modified heretic Modified heretic
  16. Your buggy was my favourite in the competition. I really like it's simplicity. Pneumatic dampers are IMHO best feature of this MOC.
  17. I have some sketch- builds finished yet, but I also want to let there some personality from my original version, because, maybe I did some mistake, but the new body looks too bulky for me to be satisfied.
  18. Thank you for invitation :D Your Video about rims persuaded me to try these rims. :D Updates are related mostly to body, I wanted more realistic proportions and opening doors.
  19. Thank you! I am glad that you like it. @Aleh and @Leonardo da Bricki : When i compare the two updated versions, I like the with smaller but wider tires more. But the current original LEGO 81mm tires (from first post in this topic) are too unrealistic. For me this pattern/tread on the 3rd party tires is offroad enough (so far). It has better grip, it is not too hard, and in case I would need little bit softer, I can always remove the foam from them. Nonetheless, I agree that aggressive tread would be nice, but it was not availible when I ordered these rims with tires. Maybe I'll check it later @pagicence :The roof rack is something that is necessity for the expedition event, but here it acts like some kind of design-breaker. I wanted to go for some kind of Jeep-Mopar Moab safari concept (?) look in this one. The race was aimed more for endurance than offroad capabilities, and in the hill-climb before the end my front HUB and CV joint reached it's fatigue level, so my victory has some blemishes... Smaller and more adhesive tires with updated axles (with U-joints) act even better, so the performance was improved with this MOD. The Fab Fours project is not completely declined as a future MOC. I have also had some sketch chassis and body for it assembled this winter, but it performed poorly, so I left interest. Because of use of huge wheels (108mm in diameter) that causes smaller traction force on wheel (large radius for output torque on axle) (in case i would like to stick to simplicity in the geartrain), and more stress on U-joints and gears, so it would require use of portals or planetary reductions, thus larger steering arms and some changes in body in order the wheels do not collide with the fenders, so it would make from this MOC just another brick in the wall (ha, ha) of slow rock crawlers. Right now I unfortunately feel slightly annoyed by all of existing crawlers.
  20. Sorry for bumping old topic, but it is update of this MOC. Hi, little update - I am sorry for promising the mad version with big tires, and not being able to finish this project. On the other hand, this Jeep is still assembled and I still rebuild it's parts from time to time. Here are two last iterations of the final version that might come this autumn, maybe later. Second iteration by Horcik Designs, on Flickr The first updated version got better roof, improved axles and old (but good-looking) tires. For next iteration I bought 3rd party tires and wheels, and added also windscreen and new bumper. rear tire has separate support structure like in real car, and it does not hang on the rear gate anymore. Slightly Heretic by Horcik Designs, on Flickr Slightly Heretic by Horcik Designs, on Flickr Plans for next modifications are better body - strongly inspired by Wranglers made by @Madoca 1977 and @rm8, chassis and colourscheme stays mine. Hope you like it.
  21. Oh, it has no difficulties with the terrain! And it is so fast. Maybe the chassis is too high for a scale model, but it does not matter, when it rides so good. Good job! The front axle idea is just flawless, inspiring, and thank you for sharing it. (but the springs are too high too call it proper scale-model Tatra)
  22. What a nice little racer! I really like the shape of rear window. The engine gives this car some Hot-wheels-ih look. :-)
  23. Something tells me that your building skills and MOCs were "EB worthy" long before this nice truck. I like the mechanical operation of the wheel-holder-frame ( - do not know the right name for that feature :( )
  24. Would it be possible to show us more photos (not only the videos) of the chassis? The worm gear solution of Tatra geartrain seems interesting.
