  1. This thread encompasses all builds within Quinnsville, on the "Chocolate Island" or as it is officially known, COCOVIA, the 10th island discovered in Challenge I "We have free coffee!" Name: Quinnsville Ownership: Empire of Corrington Location: Cocovia, west of the Sea of Thieves, Queens Bay Mayor: Sir Thomas Smaugton Settlement EGS Details as of 4th of march 2017 Trade Value: 119 Settlement Size: 27 Money in the Coffers: 493 doubloons Troops: full company of 30 soldiers Who can own property in Quinnsville: Anyone. Who can freebuild in Quinnsville: Anyone. Map: A recent discovery as the Corrington ships journeyed past the known mapped edges of the Sea of Theives, the settlement of Quinnsville was founded by the captain of one of the exploring ships, Sir Thomas Smaugton. Sailing under both the flag of the Empire of Corrington, as under the MAESTRO trade company, it is only logical that both will have a strong representation in the settlement as it grows hopefully in a busy harbour and centre of commerce. The city is protected for now by a small fortress on her western side, but garrisons are under way to add some protection from possible natives and budding neighbours. The port is gearing towards two very important inland products to export: chocolate and coffee. Or as the new mayor was heard saying, "I smell coffee in that grove!". The Banner of Quinnsville, nicknamed `The White Bra` apparently (and out of earshot). Feel free to use this if you want to place builds in the city. Sir Thomas Smaugton, as seen when making landfall on the island, February 15th of the year 616 The Size of Quinnsville for EGS purposes: Town (level 2) Residences: 4 Factories: 1 Artisans: 4 Commerces: 10 Cultural: 1 Educational: 0 Forts: 2 small out of 2 small available Plantations: 2 Mines: 0 Builds in Quinnsville: Licensed Properties: 1. They might not make the long glorious voyages of the Terramen, but at least they won`t be forgotten in the game that way and still play along, no matter how small a footnote in the history of Brethren of the Brick Seas they will become. While licensing them is an expensive venture as it takes me far beyond my "base price" 3 slots, I am planning of filling all 11 of my personal available slots with these small class 0 up to 2 vessels eventually (as funds become available over time). As such, I can`t really pay a purchase price for the ships, my payment is the fact that you can unlicense them to free up one of your three "base price" slots again to put in a ship far more usefull in the metagame. But instead of the ships becoming forgotten in the Ship Index with zero chance of ever getting relicensed by the player in question, they will have the prospect of sailing in the MCRA again, proudly remaining a part of the tales told. So if you have any of those small trader vessels or armed galleys that are just lying around, devoid of hope to shine in the light one day, send them over to Quinnsville, Cocovia. Here they will be lovingly restored to their glory. Also, for NONE of these donated ships, the sistershipping rule will be used by me. If they ever get sunk, captured, auctioned off as prices by pirates or whotnot`s that remove them from my ownership, their story has truly and gloriously ended. See it as a way of "closure" for that little build you made the day you set out to sea.
  2. Love the use of the brick separator, good idea
  3. Congratulations to the winners! Do the db`s go in the february tally?
  4. Hey Vane! Yes Flint? I captured a prize today, had some food and stuffs, as well as a nice haul of gold. Okay, just give me half of it then, as that`s fair. Naaaaaaaaaaah
  5. So the French are coming out of their ports this month I like the sail design with the fleur in it, and how nice and roomy her deck is, well designed!
  6. Love how you incorporated the LOTR sails, and the fish details are sweet
  7. My latest MOC, and one that really needed to be finished before Brick Mania Wetteren, is The Lost Valley. This is my module to participate in the BeLUG Time Traveller clubproject (more info can be found here on that), and I wanted to add some little twists to it. While in essence, you have to build a `historic build`, some lee-way to this is allowed, and I took that with both hands. On the road that runs over all the modules, I have placed a paleontologist who has uncovered the height of her career, an intact fossil! But she doesn`t realise that right behind her, there is still a group of people from my `setting` I chose. The Neolithic Man. For this build I tried something else than I usually do for trees (I was running out on green foliage) and I kind off like the result, breaking up the scene and making it more colourful. I also opted for that `hehehe` moment, by having the inhabitants being observed by someone very special ;-) I hope you like it!
  8. Very lively scene, though i wouldn`t want to be the one holding the planks for axe-man
  9. I really love her bulk and `roundness`, as well as the cluttered deck full of wares
  10. Mighty fine looking galleon
  11. Very nice looking ship, I love the curves of the front.
  12. She has a less `anime style` (which I ain`t saying was a bad thing, as I love anime) then the Appleseed, and definitly looks the speedy business
  13. Great, I was wanting to PM you for that, so I can scratch that of the to do list then hehe That was indeed the idea when I set out for buiding it, a heap of sand (well, two actually, a left and a right one) then slowly build her up from zilch with inserting the 16x16 small builds that initially are the properties we register to make her grow. That way, she is also easier to transport as both the beach section can `detach` from the central plate that will be the hamlet at first (a single street, small building with a waterside) and make it all flow into each other. This is how she looked last week: And this is how the `founding` beach WIP`s ia looking now, which will be the `sailors recluse` once it is finished: That section will probably end up licensed as a `large` size marketplace. It also gives me the chance to indeed build up the whole story slowly on the go, I have a small collab planned for march / april so that would `fill in` the two holes at the front of the city plate, but for obvious reaching of not spoiling anything yet, the gap is still open on the street plate. Though both buildings that come there are already done (as well as one for the third 16x16 `spot`) but they all need to be `pictured up` as I`m waiting for a single hairpiece to complete them...
  14. As I keep making progress on the plates for Quinnsville this month, I managed to get a small fort ready for the `level 1` in Brethren of the Brick Seas, restricted to a ground plate of 16x16. I`ve build it on a tan plate, so that I could then transfer it and incorporate it after the `license` to the larger beach section of 32x48 where it would guard one side of the city in the making that will debut at BM-W in april. A sudden knock on the door... "Enter" Sir Smaugton said. So his visitor had arrived, an hour early. A heavily mustached man entered his office room, saluting him. "You wanted to speak to me sir"? "Ah, commander Prowse, welcome welcome. I would offer you a seat, but instead I will vacate mine and take you for a walk." Sir Smaugton said as he picked up his hat. "Let`s go to the fort". The fort, he thought. A ramshackle and hastily constructed wooden redoubt, that will be guarding the beach next to his still budding colony. Armed with a single battery of 24 pounders and a contignent of Royal Marines, this might be the only thing standing between the young hamlet and the dangers out there, together with the patrolling galley HMS Terrigan. "Join me on the paraphet`s if you please" Smaugton set as both men climbed to the first level by way of ladders. This definitly wasn`t a place of luxury or comfort. Smaugton gazed out over the landscape. "Mr Prowse, as you can see, the city relies on our limited defences" as they looked to the houses still being constructed. "and for that, it will have to rely on guidance and leadership, a task that, as it`s founder, falls to me." Prowse nodded in agreement. "However, that also means that I cannot take to sea in the near future. When I embarked on this adventure, I had never thought I would be founding a hamlet for her Majesty, just that I would go on an plei the trade lanes in some uneventfull cargo or personel hauls." Smaugton said, a bit of a sad smile coming over his features, as if he wallowed in melancholy. "Even though the waters are seemingly unsafer then presumed at first." grumbled Prowse. "Indeed" sir Smaugton nodded. "And that is why I need an experienced captain to take over command of the HMS Green Dragon. And that captain, commander Prowse, will be you!". Prowse looked suprised and stammered "Me, sir?" "Indeed, here are your orders, congratulations CAPTAIN Prowse, the Green Dragon is yours. She lies for anchor just off the beach, and is all ready and stocked up to leave on her monthly trade run. Handle her with love, and she won`t let you down. Might the wind be in your sails." Well, that has been about it in my `building time opportunities` for february as I won`t have the time for doing much the next 10 days, I hope you all like this little chapter in the development of Quinnsville, intended to make my sig-fig not having to multitask between his ship and his city. Approve if you like to, as it is my 4th build (5th with the MCRA result) this month And here is a `sneak preview` of the work in progress on the beach section, with the fort now `build in` in the meantime to be able to connect to the central city plate.
  15. I don't discriminate between yellows and flesh, for me they are just all one happy population
  16. She is a beautifull vessel, and I can hereby inform that I have fulfilled my shareholder duty and filled in the form a minute ago
  17. Just a quick question now that the `3 weeks to get approvals` have past. I count 6 of them above, so that means I can add 3 doubloons to my `ledger of income` for february right? And since I`ve licensed it (about a minute from now into the future) on the not yet existing Quinnsville location, this means she will start generating income to be payed out at the end of march?
  18. So from the moment the game launched, I had decided for myself that if time permitted I would try to make a small vignette or the like every time a month had gone by and the MCRA results would been published to show the result of this month`s journeys and adventures. Well, month one was for my participating ship, the HMS Green Dragon, sheer uneventfull. Part of a convoy, it got mainly noticed in that it brought home a lot of riches due to actually getting very lucky in the rolls for how much wares she had gathered, and how much they actually sold for to generate income... Now, since I`m recycling my old storehouse from Guilds of Historica into my Quinssville WIP, this did seem like a good opportunity to add the building into the story without having to make a `recycle` topic about it, so I made my little scene around it`s doorway without a larger picture for additional approval and income gains. The scene shows the sig-fig emerging back from his trade run, with the crew sheering for the amount of wealth they would be splitting between them, as shown by the chests full of gemstones at the warehouse. At the end of February I will have all three of my licensed ships sailing out, so that might require some more moc`cing work in march, as well as building some scenes for a planned mini-collab storyline taking partly place in Quinnsville, and the `official` completion of phase one of the city, so that will be busy times ahead in the next week :-) Approve if you are not from the Empire of Corrington, but no harsh word will be spoken, nor access to the soon to be city would be denied if you do not, it was rather an uneventful voyage after all to build something about
  19. Make no mistake, while Quinnsville will have a (strong) MAESTRO presence, she WILL be falling under the Crown
  20. Thanks, The flatness is due to the beach that will become part of something bigger, ans this particular section is going to be where the market place will come. I made the picture because you can`t be raising a hamlet without planting the flag on it first Anyways, currently the city is progressing nicely, and it should be ready on it`s first full outing in the beginning of april at Brick Mania Wetteren
  21. The crew and soldiers looked up as Cpt Smaugton climbed onto a barrel at the beach they had just found. While some of them where still busy unloading some supplies, and even one of the small cannons to offer some protection should anything be there with `none so good intentions`, the marine company took position to secure the beach. He scraped his throat and then spoke with a fire in his voice... "Men! We have sailed far and wide, but now we have found this yet-to-be-named-by-her-Majesty island. Hardship has been ours, but we have prevailed over the elements. Let it be noted, that on this 15th day of the 2nd month of the year 616, on this very beach, we will plant the royal banner of Corrington. Here we will set foot, and here we will stay. This place shall become known as Quinnsville! I have send worth to our government, and invitations to our friends and the MAESTRO faction, that as soon as we have totaly secured the area and our transport ships have arrived and unloaded, they are welcome to join in the creation of this new city and add to it`s growth and expansion!" Well the third freebuild I did this month (after expanding my Naval fleet first), this is one of the beach sections that will hopefully by the time Brick Mania Wetteren comes around (the second weekend of april) be build up. But before that, I wanted to use it to show the landfall of my sig-fig, as he places the flag of the Empire of Corrington to claim the lands. So if you`re not of the Corrington empire, support the funding of the city by casting your approvals
  22. The City (well, Hamlet at first) of Quinnsville `work in progress` Left beach will become the `market` over time, right side the fort, and at the front three more smaller buildings (amongst them two for a mini collab planned in the future) will be added, and the road will `dwindle` into the beach areas. Both the beaches are `detachable` so as the city expands, fresh 48x48 plates will be able to `lock` in between them for easy expansion and transportation, but I *hope* to have these three plates ready for Brick Mania Wetteren
  23. The `first brick` has been laid down, and somewhere next week the `founding` freebuild will be uploaded. Without an island name so far, but that ain`t essential yet
  24. Very lovely entry, love the `stream` in the water
