The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Tomsche replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Now this might be a crazy thought, and I`m ducking for cover for the hates that are going to come this way, BUT what if both the danger on the seas, AND the income from trades would be lowered? Would we have this discussion? Say that, unless you undertake really high risk routes spanning a multitude of zones (say 3+ or so), you are relatively safe to cruise the seas in your little cog, and make a steady income that month equal to about owning a property (like, between 3 to 7 DB for cargo, compared to the steady 5 for a property), instead of the hundreds that have been thrown into the game now over these first two months. It would take longer to build something big unless you invest wisely, heck you could even start a whole lvl 0 trade fleet in certain zones for income, without worrying you`ll need to replace half the fleet every month. That way, big ships become a bit more difficult to obtain, and once you have them, they aren`t likely to go down on the first voyage. Something like a `safe zone` for low yielding trade runs if you get what I mean. That would also make it a more intresting position to either become a shipping mogul like Bregir Onassis, or a Governor of your own little bowl of dust on some backwater island where chocolate bars grow on trees. What you have now is that the `game` is already taking over on the builds in some cases, as a good few are already looking towards wrangling the most DBs out of there builds, instead of building something and seeing just what you can do with whatever is earned? This game is great, the setting is lovely, but perhaps some parts, like the boats, are just going `to fast`. When it launched, 450 seemed an ocean away ( ) to get the money for, now they are more common then a lowly lvl 1 trader, as the first two classes, which gave you a free license to get you going and form your backbone (at least, i guess that was the intention when it was designed) are just past by as a necessary little evil on route to the big ones. It would definitly make Ska`s life a bit easier as well if he can just point out a lvl 2 trader going from port X to port Y, and just needs to do a single roll for the variable of (LOW) income that ship hauls, and might help towards the actual locations of the ships later on. Of course, if newspapers rumour about hurricanes and you sail straight in, then that`s all your fault if the crew and cargo come on first name basis with the fishes... PS: I`m not in favor of the up and downgrading of licenses of captured ships tbh, after reading a lot of opinions. If you want a Class 4 warship and a class 4 trader, build one moc. First picture her with guns, marines and the whole shazam, then change her details to sailors and cargo boxes. Then make two topics and buy two licenses... (well, that`s my idea on that) making her actually two different ships from one `base` build. BoBS very own Creator set as you can say- 897 replies

Settlement: Quinnsville, "Chocolate Island", Corrington
Tomsche replied to Tomsche's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
For those intrested in `evolving` the settlement, I now have added a small table with the amount of properties needed, and of which `sort` they have to be licensed, to go from her current level (lvl 1 hamlet at time of writing) to the next level (lvl 2 Town) in the future. Just because, well, I like to keep her record straight and tidy that way and have a good oversight hehehe, a mayor has to do *something* in his job after all -
That really reminds me of the classic Games Workshop wood elf chariot, awesome build

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion

I suggest the 1A should be donated as a gift to (if they want it) founder`s of the new settlements. That way (and that is what I did personally last MCRA), you can have them patrol the settlements coastal waters. Now this doesn`t seem much, but as I see what might happen in the future is that some players will be ending up with small class 0 ships, from a storyline they played out or such, and those are limited to 1 area as well. You can then set those out on a small bounty run, or a trade between two ports in the same area, and have them escorted by those ships. That was the whole reason I build the HMS Terrigan to start with. Or, but as it happened we have no idea how it should work, if any war of raid would be undertaken on those settlements, you have a floating gun battery to help defence, or if in the future ships would no longer be able to `warp` all over the map, restricting the small fishing boats and all to a single zone anyways for the rest of their lives. Also: Personally, Quinnsville would not participate ironically in that contest, as she has the 1A HMS Terrigan in her port for just that goal nowadays- 897 replies

Invest in property and planations. I know a city on a nice island full of chocolate where you can settle down nicely.

Now what I am wondering... Every zone has a pirate active, but if we would all sail individually through the zone instead of in a single flotilla, would that one pirate be able to be 'everywhere at once' and attack each an every ship in the zone, or would he have to 'choose a price' like they had to hundreds of years ago? Because if that would be the case, putting all ships together might actually be a drawback then.

Nope, monthlly incomes for properties start counting the month after they 'start' licensing the property. In your example, you'd have 35 on may 1st, and an additional 5 db on june 1st, july 1st and august 1st until you build something new, totaling respectively 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 over the period if you don't spend anything The ships start immediatly indeed, but most don't seem to come home in the MCRA, so the heavy investment that have to be made in licenses seems to be a bigger risk then the slow and steady stream of the buildings. But on the other hand the MCRA makes us all sit on the tip of our chair to see if they crew returns to their families

[COR - FB1 mar] Quinnsville Village Square
Tomsche replied to Tomsche's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just click on the Quinnsville topic link in this post at the top, the village is there in all here glory -
One of the last `modules` I`ve completed for the main street of Quinnsville (who will get a "guided tour" soonishly), the Village square is one build that won`t be licensed into the EGS for Brethren of the Brick Seas, since I doesn`t really fall into any specific category. But even in a scientific empire as Corrington, and with places of commerce and trade in full development to put the settlement `on the map` and hopefully becoming an intresting place for traders to visit in the future, once in a while a non-game system related build has to be put in place. The village square is the point of rest and relaxation in the still young colony, and sits by the waterside to give those looking for some RnR a nice view over the bay. It is a gathering place for old seamen and young children, but also for those wives looking out over the water in the hope of seeing the ships that hold their husbands return. The fountain is a gem of Corrington engineering, giving the whole area a nice and calm appeal as the water runs continuously though it`s intricate system of pumps, tubes and filters, inot the basin designed by one of Corrington`s better recreational architects back in the old world. This was actually a fun 16x16 module to build, as it breaks up the walls of the `main street` buildings and gives some better `view in` space for future displays at events. Hope you like it!
