Love the atmosphere that building eminates -
The original norfolk wherry`s where about 4 metres in length, really not bigger then the small sailing ships you now learn to sail with, or they do the races at the olympics with. They where basically european (british) equivalents of the rafts used between amazon tribes and the likes, only in the industrial age they started to `lengthen` as the machine parts they tend to ferry from fabric A to fabric B became bigger and heavier

I`m building my city one brick at a time, to `launch` it probably near the end of the month if all goes as planned. For the rest I`m a bit on the backburner this week as the living room needs painting lol- 897 replies

I think the answer is `nothing` apart from a common goal of people building for the same targets. And to be able to weave a better tale around it then every man for himself without underlying collaborative storylines. That way, if a `company` (or rebellion, group of natives etc etc) pile their buildings together in a hamlet `founded` by one of them, the city can grow quicker then one man having to freebuild everything to get the level requirements to expand it. Or so I think

Great looking build, I like the vats and the kettle -
I don`t bother to much on detail pics during wips, those masts have been changing place and size at least 4 times in the past two days for example

They are those grey `cockpit under side` things from mostly space range models, with the `curvature` at the point Oh, but on that part, "something" is comming up in a few weeks... something big... something nasty... *insert insane admiral laughter* The 5th Rate HMS Pendragon is in the works, still only the `prototype`, as the masts and all have been moved since this picture earlier this week. Won`t be able to build on her the next week as i`m painting the living room and the kid has holidays so i`ll be totting around a lot on top, then I need to first build the MCRA result and some other small things to set everything ready for the city. But I hope to have her `sea worthy` by Brick mania Wetteren, beginning of april

Coyle Shipping Co. February MRCA Escorted Trade runs

You can put the Green Dragon in the same convoy for the same route agin (the Sulky one) My toher two vessels are limited to one zone and will be operating together by themselves for a protected fishing run :-) -
Yeah, Im not to happy with how high the sail ended up, but I was getting issues with the marines paltfor and shako`s to lower it, and it would obscure the `captain`s cabin` at the back. So I opted for some `liberties` there, as the ship will be sailing to some events this year and people wouldn`t just see a sail and nothing else

Those wherry`s where flat bottoms, and if they encountered real waves, they where doomed anyways. Bit of prehistoric (by manner of speaking) loading cranes from today`s world ports

And then there are the other two. The Oleans probably had wrong calendar and forgot to send their ships out, while the predators got predated... Fortune favors the bold... or the real ugly ones Oh wait, that was compassion...- 897 replies

If we start taxing foreigners alone, that might cause some political issues left or right. I would suggest, considering she is `expendable`, that for the first tow or three coming MCRA`s we use her like the three royals. Corrington at the moment has by far the largest navy and the wealth is also solely with us at the moment. If we can take the lead further in those first months, it might enable us to `sit back and play the waiting game` while we can focus on other goals like settlements, explorations etc, while the other factions are still playing catch up, and without looking hostile. If we get convoys of only two or three trade ships, the 4A can be used for that extra layer of protection.- 897 replies

Pomme Poisson... sounds rather you where sunk by the Oleans....

And then of course there is the rule for plantations that any settlement can have a maximum of plantations equal to it`s level... and don`t see most (if any) of the newly founded / to be founded hamlets becoming large cities in a quick time

The second ship I have been building for this month`s Brethren of the Brick Seas , she is a class 1 `Armed Galley`, based on the style of ships from the historical Battle of Lepanto. And since the HMS Green Dragon has returned from month 1`s trade run with a nice cargo hold of spoils, I can license both this one and yesterday`s class 0 in one go, before starting to save up the doubloons to build my city. Those venetian galleys had oars as main propulsion, the small sail granting a small boost in speed, the cannon battery serving for forward firing, and a nasty looking ram to bring enemy galleys to their destiny at the sea's bottom. In-game, this means the class 1A`s can only operate within a single zone during an MCRA action, so she will be assigned escorting duty to the Isandlwana from february onwards. That way, I can get `maximum yield` hopefully from the little wherry, without it going to the seabottom by the first bathtub that looks dirty at it. Storywise, she will be the harbour guard for Quinnsville until the era of far bigger ships break out in the game, and to which end I am building as well at the moment, but that is music for far, far away still. The ram, reinforced in iron to sink enemy ships. It also comes with a forward mounted cannon. Seamen row the galley forwards while guarded by the contignent of royal Marines. The commander of the vessel, Lieutenant Lester, shouts his orders to the rowers while another crewman steers the ship. So now I`m at a manageable `3-ship' fleet, which should get me through the initial stages of the game and provide enough bonus income to start licensing properties near the end of the month for the upcoming builds I`m doing.
