  1. Thanks for the comments Cap. I opted for the tan hindcastle based on the old "vatican carracks" from the 1600s rennaisance, who usually had the hindsections painted up in a contrasting colours. Set wise, the hull is from the 1993 set 6268 Renegade Runner
  2. It`s actually the top of the old packaging cans:
  3. Amongst other references But the dutch names are basically professor Atreides "charlatan" and chief "bullsh**" if translated freely ;-) And then there is ofc the Bionicle reference since I build around the mask hehe
  4. After two days of sailing, the HMS Green Dragon has dropped anchor at a small, isolated island. Accompanied by the famous `first contact specialist` Your Honourable Doctor Atreides Lapzwanzer, the crew sets about exploring a mysterious cavern. This cavern is rumoured to have connections to the lost continent of Crappa Nui, a long lost civilisation of gigantic creatures that according to legend roamed the lands and oceans in ages past. The local tribeshead, L`ulkoek`us, received the daring explorers with open arms, and guided them into the cave... Okay, so perhaps not all crewmen where intrested in mysterious grotto`s and tropical birds... So I finally found a suitable thing to do with that huge Bionicle packaging head I got in a lot somewhere...
  5. Oh, promoted from day 0 to Head ;-) Now to steal all those MS pictures to build my properties in a likewise style hehe ;-)
  6. Hilarious! Those statues are indeed great concoctions, awesome
  7. For both sorts (ships and property), or is it only the Porperty one that had the goblins?
  8. In the rules, The Cutter is the `level 2` Fast ship
  9. Sleek looking vessel, and I`m picking up the pointers on upper / lower deck here ;-)
  10. To the Mayor of Elysabethtown, Mayor Elysabeth Drondil To the CEO of MAESTRO, Lord Matteus Tomvaximus I, Sir Thomas Smaugton, captain of the Corrington cutter HMS Green Dragon am looking for employment within your trading company. I seek for permission to moor my ship into your harbour, and be permitted to erect places of commerce within the town walls of the new settlement in order to aid in the endeavours of MAESTRO, and the progress of my own personal fortunes through honest work. I await your reply, Yours honourably Sir Thomas Smaugton (and it makes it also a bit more accomodating for any BM`s or the like to be able to collab into ;-) )
  11. Twas the closest thing I had to a green draconicish head, unless I bolted on the old green dragon in it`s entirety. Probably save that one up for the day i build a really big boat hehe
  12. Well, tossing some more cents in the pool, as a mediocre builder (time, space, lack of skill, pick whatever reason you want from the list :-) ) I also have been involved in all three projects so far, and never really cared about `points`, gold or whatever earned. GOH is one I love because there is no time pressure for anything outside the `book challenges`, which apart from the wargame so far have been timespread well enough. My problem with AG was more one of high turnout required for the map, with it weekly needing a build in order to keep your company `in the arms race`, causing numbers to swing the pendulum more then quality. That is why i quit it the moment I earned enough for the tag (I`m tag-dicted lol). When initially reading this, I sigend up at first to do the occasional freebuild, as having 20 years of Historical wargaming under the belt before coming out of my Lego `dark ages` (Age of Sail until ACW where my periods and games of choice), and loving the Lego sailing ships made this an appealing project. I see myself dabbling along in this for quite a while, without sidetracking my Castle stuff. I did sign up for the EGS in the end after all though, just to give myself a bit more of a game feel, even though I just build for personal fun (and to carry it along to events, collabing probably again this year with Maxim I and Kabel amongst others). BTW, I take it that in order to get fleets formed with traders, escorts etc, we just do this in the `open` Empire threats? I can imagine spies around aplenty in the Age of Sail, not needing specific private chat channels like in AG?
  13. A very pretty ship, I hope I won`t sail into her :-)

  15. Upon this glorious day of her Majesty the Queen, the HMS Green Dragon has sailed out of port in Arlinsport, and has taken to the wide oceans in search of new lands and civilisations. The small but agile cutter, commandeered by Sir Thomas Smaugton, will travel first to pick up some researchers, before heading out and following a lead to some mysterious island, of which nothing more can be said for now, but expecting arrival at destination within two days. The Green Dragon was selected for this as it sacrifices armament, consisting of two single swivel guns and a minimal Marine detachment, and cargo capacity. This makes it highly suitable for transportation of highly ranked persons of intrest, as they are mostly outfitted to outrun rather then engage opposing ships of malicious intent.
  16. Right, the sigfig is ready, let`s do this :-) Sir Thomas Smaugton is the only son of the Lord Smaugton, Duke of Merxem. Born in nobility, he never lacked anything in his youth, and when the time came ot serve the Crown, he joined the Navy as a midshipman. After serving for several years on various ships, he raised through the ranks, mostly due to status and age, before being handed his own command of the sloop HMS Green Dragon, named after the Coat D`Arms of his family, which depicts a green dragon on a yellow field. Now, the Crown has called upon it`s captains to explore the New World, and the Green Dragon is being put into service to explore the oceans in search of new civilisations.
  17. I think I`ve figured it out, as well as how the EGS works So if I`m correct in proeceeding, once my fig and build for it are ready (I`ll be able to take pics in a few days, families to visit etc), should be as follows right: 1. Create a post with the figure in the relevant faction thread 2. Fill in a free build form and send it in 3. Post the link in the freebuild forum 4. Start building a small, `free` boat, enter the license form 5. Sign up for the Monthly raiding thing with said boat 6. Trial and error to proceed through it all :-) Oh, am I correct to use the forms I found in the Master Index for all those things, or are there seperate ones?
  18. Very good idea, and the ships are gorgeous!
  19. Okay, one more question, and then I`ll shut up, build a figure and register I`ve been reading through the whole economics game and all, with the voyages, sea actions etc, but some small things aren`t clear to me (probably just lost in translation or overread it) As you join on a `freebuild` basis, you don`t earn personal gold and fame right, but do add to the appropriate factions tally only, or do you score them to do personal purchases somewhere along the line (say for example, down the line in 6 months I suddenly have time and want to jump into the ERS game).
  20. Oooh, that`s a mighty gorgeous tower you build there
  21. Hmm, I have intrest in joining this, but as a non `Economic Game` player, who can only very occasionally build something due to other constraints and requirements. BUT I have a bit of a problem deciding which side to join. On the one hand, the story of the Bri... I mean Corrington appeals to me the most, but on the other hand I have 0 red, and a lot of blue coats, as I always liked those figures more. Which is the best choice to make then? Story / Character wise it`ll probably be a seafarer sort of explorer, as to not be putting pressure on myself to keep building building building while neglecting other builds, after all, one is many weeks on the seas ;-)
  22. The most reason display build I completed for my ongoing Project Merak has been the Viking versus the Fenris Wolf, from the Vikings theme. As I said when I did the build report for the set, if there was one range that I felt `beugh` about that I missed it during my Dark Ages, it must be the Viking line, so I`m definintly going to be adding them to my Castle lay-out as I continue building them. While the larger plates are in the lines of green and village life, I would love to build the vikings on a higher sort of raised display bases, to represent the more grey and cold Northern lands. To that end, I have been building a snowy rockscape for the setting, with the viking being in a raised positions to face off the legendary wolf, and the first setting for the northern section of my future lay out build :-)
  23. Congratulations venerable Jarl Ecc
