    A True Bloodbath

Somewhere in Nocturnus . . . "The biggest bloodbath you can imagine! More than most of you will see in this lifetime!" So Ravaage's captain had promised. The people of the Iw-Ngem tribe had believed him, and enthusiastically signed up to join Raavage's forces. At first, they had been disappointed when they discovered the mis-communication about bloodbaths. Then, they were horrified by the dishonorable methods of their fellow troops. After the battle, though, the Iw-Ngem people were left in despair, as the Black Spire continued to destroy the land and people of their beloved guild, long after the fight had supposedly ended. In secret, the Iw-Ngem sent the young warrior Quchqal to pledge their loyalty to Lord Vladivus and his resistance. Quchqal still had a long journey before he reached Shadowmere, though he expected to run into scouts and distrust as he got nearer. Quchqal stopped in his tracks. He couldn't believe his eyes! A bloodbath! A true bloodbath! A thick red swampy spring, bubbling mysteriously just so, with delicious slimy black algae coating the banks -- Quchqal couldn't believe his luck. He hadn't had a proper bloodbath since . . . well. This must be a good omen, he decided; Set had sent him a sign he was on the right path for his people. He quickly shed his helmet and blade and prepared to dive in, clothes and all. Builder's notes: It was time for a quick break from the barren dry landscape of Ruadh! I hope Nocturnians find it pleasing. I'd like to claim UoP Credits for: Landscape Design: Trees (1 of 3) Hydrology: Still Water Geography: Swamp
  2. Not every alchemist has a supermarket around the corner stocked with mystical ingredients. Some actually have to work for those supplies, like this old wizard. His apothecary research requires mushrooms, and there is perhaps no better place to find them than in the Nocturnian swamps. The only problem is not finding yourself on the menu when traveling through the swamp - the critters here are mysterious and dangerous. Old-timers say only fools would venture the swamps alone. Perhaps this wizard has just sampled too much of his own product... ---------------------------- So... still no chapter build from me. Unfortunately "real life" has had me occupied lately but had some time to spend with the bricks the other night and threw this little freebuild together. Nice thing about Arkansas is that I basically just had to look out the window for inspiration - it's real swampy around here! Anyways, thanks for looking. Feedback always appreciated!

    Moruth Swamp Outpost

Dotted throughout the Moruth Swamp are numerous outposts, initially built to serve as platforms for the spread of commerce to some of Nocturnus' most inhospitable domains. However, during the war against the Black Spire, these isolated outposts proved essential for resupplying and staging the Nocturnian resistance. Now that the Black Spire's forces are again on the move, the small bases are once more demonstrating their utility. Located deep in the treacherous swamps, the outposts are extremely difficult to reach and only shallow-draft vessels can attempt to near one. A network of informants in the surrounding fishing villages also provide a diligent watch against Black Spire troops. An invading force would be spotted far before reaching an outpost, allowing its tenants to escape or set up an ambush. As one could imagine, life aboard these outposts is not particularly enjoyable, but residents do what they can do pass the long periods of boredom. Fishing, not surprisingly, is a common pastime. That, and counting mosquitos. A couple of "cinematic shots" of the build: A shot of the whole build, and then some close ups: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This foggy, swampy outpost is another freebuild for Nocturnus - it's good to be building in the darklands again! I feel like this is my best MOC up-to-date, or at least I hope so because getting those three roofs to sit flush with one another was frustrating as hell. Also, if you're wondering what that odd base is all about, well, it's the best I could do with the dark green I had on hand. It's hard to find a BL seller in the US who wants to charge less than a quarter apiece for dark green bricks! The design is based on some artwork I saw online, from a computer game I believe. The fog effect was done with a fog machine. Anyways, I had a lot of fun building this one, and I hope you enjoy! Feedback always welcomed! And to you gator fans out there, I apologize for the brutality witnessed above (unless you're a UofF fan, then no apology), but that's some darn good eating!
  4. I'd been thinking about building a tower using half stud offsets to make it smaller as it gets taller, but hadn't gotten around to actually doing anything until I saw Gideon's sweet lighthouse. That inspired this tower. There is a full interior as always. Glorfindel and Infernum had finally caught up with those responsible for the recent raids on Mitgardian homes and watchtowers. They waded through the swamp surrounding the tower, to try and reach the two Mitgardian prisoners, unnoticed. Meanwhile the two leaders of the raiding party were arguing at the top of the tower. The Hand of Corruption captain wanted to follow their orders and take the Mitgardian soldiers they had captured back to Nocturnus to work as slaves, but the Orc chieftain had other plans for the two. In the heat of the argument, the orc chieftain and one of his archers killed the captain and another Hand of Corruption warrior. By this time, Glorfindel and Infernum had made it to the prisoners. They armed the two with their daggers. Then Glorfindel picked the lock on the door and they charged in. The raiders were unprepared for an attack and were quickly killed. Glorfindel and Infernum restored the Mitgardian flag to its rightful place and discussed how to defend the Nocturnus border against more raiding parties such as this. A few more pictures of the build: More pictures can be seen here: link I hope you guys enjoyed this collaborative storyline. And a big thanks to Infernum for efforts in the collab
  5. My dearest Cassius, We are still in the tower. Since the first night, when the black ship was spotted, we haven't been attacked, but many of our men are dead or dying. I believe it is because they handled the dead orcs. I warned them to burn them, but they threw them into the water instead. Now, the pestilence is creeping through even my own body. I am old, Cassius. You know that. I have been old for a long time, since you were a child. I can feel that it is almost my time to go through that great door we call death. Do not grieve for me, for where I am going, I shall never be old again. These shall most likely be my final words to you, words so precious I shudder to think of entrusting them to the care of this bird. Do not fear. No matter what happens, be brave. If Avalonia falls, so be it. Everything is being orchestrated for a reason, Cassius. Do not fear. Farewell, Alfred ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quite frankly, I love everything about this build. The photography sucks (I don't have access to my normal camera), but I think it might be one of my best builds so far. I originally planned for this to be a mountain top, but when I placed it on a blue baseplate to make sure it fit the limit, it just screamed island. So I ordered up some trans black bricks, (greatly underestimating how many), and made up some water. This is supposed to be a ruined tower build on an islet in the Mystic Isles that has recently been repaired. I'd also like to claim the following credits: Still water Wall technique #1 Window Frames C&c welcome, as always!
  6. Alright, so this is the hideout of Kermit and his brother: As the sun began to set, Kermit and his brother walked across the deadly swamp, back to their hideout, to claim the life of another poor victim, a poor fool who dared go into the swamp. Without minifigs: And that's about it!
  7. ~o☼o~ Swamp Faeries ~o☼o~ The Swamp Faeries (or "Forested Wet Land" Faeries if you prefer) live in family groups throughout the Moruth Swamplands, and make their homes out of the hollows of dead trees. They are quite shy, and are rarely seen except by those unfortunate enough to have their hands or feet bitten off by their double row of razor sharp teeth (they love the crunch of little bones). A picture of the swamp by itself: I thought I'd give a swamp moc a try...
  8. Built by my 11 year old brother. Kendrick, Basil, and his companions are traveling on a remote and rather narrow path. Little do they realize the danger around them: Suddenly they are ambushed by bandits: Kendrick tries to defend himself, but Basil runs off: Meanwhile one of the bandits grabs the horses reins and another holds Kendrick's friends at bow point: Kendrick is quickly overpowered by the villian: Almost before they realized what had happened, Kendrick and his companions were being marched off by the bandits: One of the scoundrels drove off with the wagon and horses: to be continued... He would greatly appreciate any C&C, thanks for looking
  9. This is my build for the fourth global challenge in the Lands of Classic Castle project. The tower is built off of click hinges, and while I have seen other towers built off of those, I haven't seen any in this design. The assignment was to rebuild a MOC by someone else in your own style: this was the build I was assigned to redo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lord_woodz/8395916474/in/pool-thelandsofclassiccastle/ And our factions are at war so I showed the tower under attack: More pics here: http://brickbuilt.tk/GC4.php All C&C appreciated
