  1. Here is my review on LEGO Despicable Me 4 75580 Minions and Banana Car: THE GOOD: 4 Minions in the smallest and cheapest set. THE NOT SO GOOD: It feels like an army building pack but it isn't as all 4 minions are unique. This is a great set to get a few extra minions minifigures. The banana car is simple but does look like a banana. Rest of the set is really just minifigures plus very small side builds. 3 of them have unique torso print which makes it hard for army building. If your intention is for Army building, I would recommend the Party Bus set instead even though it is double the price but you get 3 traditional minions bodies instead of 1 here. Again, this set really is for fans of minions as apart from minifigures, there aren't much appeal to a wider audience. Overall, a decent entry to the theme and I had a great time.
  2. Here is my review on LEGO Despicable Me 4 75581 Minions' Music Party Bus: THE GOOD: QR code sticker to a short video. Great for Minion army building. Love the DJ deck with spinning record. THE NOT SO GOOD: Bus is really short, ratio wise, and it does feel repetitive when building the upper are of it. RRP is probably $10NZD too expensive considering the content. This is another set I managed to get earlier than the dated launch. This set comes with 3 regular minions and 1 mega-minion which is great if you want to build a minions army. All 4 minions are unique and I like this mega minion with a cape moulded to its head. The bus itself is fairly short but have decent width. I like how the the front is designed and it has party features like DJ deck, dance floor and a jacuzzi/pool. I think the driver area could have been utilise more. The bus can be opened up quite wide for the minions to party but given the minions size, it's hard to fit all of them in. Couple of cool graphics design on the stickers and there is one QR code which you can scan to navigate to a special page to watch a LEGO Minion short =). The DJ deck is pretty cool though as you can actually spin the record. Having said that, while the bus has a some interesting building techniques involve, but it does also feel repetitive when you start building the uppper area of the bus. It's a set perfect for minions lovers but can be underwhelming given the recommend retail price.
  3. Here is my review on LEGO Despicable Me 4 75583 Minions and Gru's Family Mansion: THE GOOD: Manison exterior captures the look of the house in film fairly well. Includes the whole Gru's family. The MEGA minions are surprisingly cool. The tree house is actually a good small set if released separately. THE NOT SO GOOD: Gru still doesn't look like Gru. The mansion has no side walls. Luckily our local toy stores dropped this early with 15% off, as someone who loved the sets from Minions few years ago, this is a no brainer purchase. When this set was announced, I was very skeptical on the build and turns out I was right. The mansion does capture the look of Gru's house in the film but this is a complete facade type build focused in play features given the target audience. In that aspect, it succeed. For those who wishes something like the Disney Up house, then you will be disappointed on the mansion it self as it doesn't even have side walls. Having said that, some of the play features inside the house are pretty stunning. Some highlights are the rotatable pillars with toilet and different equipment, Gru's throne, and the kid's bed. Although the bed looks authentic but it's way too big interms of the scale of the house. With the current set up, it will be a great challenge for those who wants to build a complete Gru's mansion. Now the tree house, I actually find this a way more interesting build and more satisfied in the end product compared to the mansion. It has a working zip line and I was impressed on how well the decoration on the tree trunk is attached. Even it's enhanced for playability, it feels more complete as a set compare to the mansion. But hey, to be honest, most of us would be buying this for the minions. This set doesn't include normal minions but only includes MEGA minions. Will have to wait until I've seen the film before I know the story but the MEGA minions are great, so obvious they played homage to the fantastic 4. In terms of other minifigures, it's great this set pretty much included the whole Gru's clan. I wish the dog Kyle is also included but I guess LEGO ran out of budget for an extra new mould. Gru still has issue without his iconic nose but give he is an middle age man in this settings, makes more sense to use adult legs compared to the Minions's Gru who was a kid and still use adult torso. Lucy is the highlight from the rest of the minifigure with an excellent secondary face print, the girls are great too but I wish they have use the mid legs for Mayo instead. If you are into minions, this is definitely a set for you but otherwise it's ok to skip if you don't care about this IP.
  4. Watch the Footage The Mecanum wheel is an omnidirectional wheel design for a land-based vehicle to move in any direction. The Mecanum Wheel is based on a tireless wheel, with a series of rubberized external rollers obliquely attached to the whole circumference of its rim. These rollers typically have an axis of rotation at 45° to the wheel plane and 45° to the axle line. When spinning generates a propelling force perpendicular to the roller axle, which can be vectored into: + a longitudinal component + a transverse component Minions use Pulse Width Modulation technology to adjust the speed of their vehicles. Minions change the running direction of each wheel or motor with H-bridge technology and control the movement of their vehicles by combining different wheel directions. Camellia Mini could control all motors synchronously, which keeps 4 Mecanum wheels changing direction or speed simultaneously, thus making the vehicle perform perfect omnidirectional running. www.camellia.xin Copyright © Camellia Café 2016-2021 Camellia Café and its LOGO are registered trademarks.
  5. Finally after a year delay, here is my review on 75550 Minions Kung Fu Battle: THE GOOD: The set actually looks great and will fit very well with the chinese new year temple festival from last year. Surprising new printed element, looks like shin ryu from Dragon Ball. Great mini dragon dance build. Cool action features. THE NOT SO GOOD: No way to have the just one minifigure stands on flat surface with falling when holding the dragon dance but I guess this is expected =P Overall, I like this set. It's probably a runner up if compared to the buildable minons set. I really like the look of it and really surprised with the new printed tile. I thought it's gonna be stickers when they first annouced this. I like the action features and the minifigures included. Otto looks really cute but of cos this is subject to if you like Minions or not. The price while is on the high end, given it is not uncommon to get discount off this, pricing ain't that bad to be honest. anyway, I think this is a good set includes great minifigs and some cool stuff which I will recommend to everyone.
  6. Here is my review on the other minions set released: THE GOOD: Stuart and Bob are great minifigures. The rocket skates suit the minions well. THE NOT SO GOOD: Gru minifigure does not capture the character at all. Obviously haven't seen the movie so cant compare the motorbike but the bike just don't do it for me. Overall, I would have skipped this set if the other 3 sets released at the same time. No doubt this set would make lots of kids happy and with a very appealing price point but I just can't agree on the direction the designer took with the Gru Minifigure. I do like the Stuart and Bob minifigures though and this what drove me to buy this. If you planning to buy a Minions set and have a few extra dollars, I would suggest you get the Brick built Minions and skip this one.
  7. Do you remember when Mega Bloks had a Universal license from five years ago? They've released the station wagon from 'Minions' back in 2015. I recreated this using actual LEGO! Now with the new LEGO Minions sets, this car would make a great addition! Download Link: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/TheScooterGuy/Stud-io/Station-Wagon/minions_station_wagon_studio.io
  8. Here is my review on 75551 Brick-built Minions and their lair: THE GOOD: The brick-built Kevin, Stuart and Bob are excellent, I think just the right size and impressed how well the design captures the vibe of each character with known lego limitation. Distinct interior inside each minion. Excellent use of printed parts and stickers. Great Minifigures. THE NOT SO GOOD: Can only build 2 minions in one set. The stickers for Bob's interior is a bit difficult to apply. Overall, I think it's an excellent set. I know Minions may not for everyone but I really enjoyed the building experience and the finished product. Absolutely loving the minifigures too. I do wish they included/increase the piece count to allow BOB in the set too. Buying 2 sets may not be feasible for everyone and you end up with one extra Stuart (well, of cos you can easily customise it to a generic minion). Other than this, I can't fault this set at all. WIll totally recommend this to anyone even to those not really like the minions. Now I'm looking forward to the other 3 delayed sets next year.

    [Minions] Merry Mug'mas

Ahoy, fellow BoBSers, a bit late maybe, but then... minions do their things when they feel like it - celebrating is no different. This is an entry for the Nellisan Merrynight mini-challenge, category C. Merry Mug'mas After having sold the plundered (and later beached) Santa Clara to Oleon - by the way the ship sank as those incompetent minions hadn't managed to fix her up watertight... or did they do that on purpose... maybe they don't even know themselves... anyways, moving on - well, with all the treasure and the additional Oleander DB, the minions had enough cash at their disposal to throw a proper Mug'mas party. So they filled up The One MugTM with mulled wine... and just went nuts. What's in all the presents, you may ask - probably just mugs and hats They had even heard about that Nellisan custom of decorating a fir tree... but somehow misunderstood the concept... or did it intentionally... who knows... anyways - bottom line: the fir tree quickly turned into a fire tree... About: Well, nothing special about this at all, the mug has been used before, the rest is pretty basic. However, the idea was in my head as soon as I read about the Merrynight mini-contest. This just had to be done Thanks for watching C&C welcome!
