  2. One of Freddy's neighbors worked as a foreman over a sugarcane plantation just outside the city limits of Rassilon. Sugarcane was extremely popular on the island. It just goes to show you that even pirates can have a sweet tooth.
  3. While waiting for the captain to return the crew of the Bleak Angel witness a small skirmish. Under orders from First Mate Jakes the crew take the opportunity to retrieve some of the lost valuables from the sea floor. Only a handful of the crew are skilled enough to both reach the depths the shipwreck lays at, and bring the hold of the sunken hold back to the surface. A couple more pictures showing off the overall build behind the spoiler button. As this is my third Freebuild this month, Approvals would be appreciated.
  4. One aspect of life as a Sea Rat goes unmentioned by the advertising material: That not all plunder is of immediate value to the plunderer. For sure that coinage, jewels, food, ammunition, clothes and craft materials are all of use to a Sea Rat or their ship but other items are of limited use and limited market. Books only matter to those few Sea Rats who can read. A captain's cabin only has so much room for art, and any sensible collector of art will not put it in a cannonball's path. As for antiques, relics and native trinkets, well, those are just wasted space to many. But everything is of value to someone, if you know who and how. That is where Grayther Drave comes in. Drave's emporium serves as a clearing house for items of select market, where a freshly returned crew may unload those more unusual and esoteric items found on their journeys. The ground floor stocks and sells all sorts of small trinkets and oddities for the curious, superstitious or eccentric. But Drave's real success is his other market. For back on the mainland, and in the various colonies, there is a market for rare books, forbidden tomes and native treasures. Some dare visit his store in person. A letter of introduction from an existing client is necessary for a potential customer go gain access the goods kept in the old vaults below the emporium. The rumours that Drave deals in occult goods and supposedly cursed treasures is widespread. One tale claims the man's mask is to hide the consequences of one particularly potent hex. Another claims the mask hides scars from an accident involving alchemy. Rumours that Drave deals with information and has spies across the Sea of Storms persist. Drave employs a young woman named Yukio as a bodyguard and to provide additional security for the store. Thieves are not too common, however, as few want to risk stealing one of the supposedly cursed artifacts. Here, Drave sells a dangerousvaluable book to one of his regular customers, Jacqueline "Jack" Yharnam.

  8. Previously: Recruiting at Marco's This Is Not the Wealthy Housing of Rassilon Falling Out with Foxx Cantu's Fort in Rassilon The Viper After their humiliating capture by the Mardians, the crew of The Viper was imprisoned while Mardier decided how best to use the ship. Sinbad found himself sharing a cell with Li Fang. “My father has failed one too many times!” Li exclaimed. “He’s always been too soft. That’s why we took privateering license when we could have been making our own way!” Sinbad knew Li had a point. But after everything Cho had done for him in bring him on as a crew member, he wasn’t sure he was ready to betray the captain just yet. “The men are on my side” continued Li. “We’ve only been waiting for the right opportunity. When the time comes, can I count on you?” Before Sinbad had a chance to answer, a large commotion began further into the jail. Sinbad watched as the guard ran towards the noise, but a few minutes later the only thing to return was a small bomb rolling across the floor. It blew the door off its hinges and Sinbad and Li rushed out. “Wait!” shouted Cho. “Don’t leave me!” Sinbad looked towards the captain and then at Li. He knew if he was going to succeed, he would need to make his own way. Hanging onto Cho’s coattails wouldn’t get him far. He turned away from the Cho’s pleas and left with Li and the rest of the crew as they stormed the harbor and took back The Viper.
  9. After escaping from the Mardierians (build to come soon!), Sinbad and the crew of The Viper found themselves pushed past The Nest of Thieves by a storm. Ending up in uncharted waters, they sent a small party ashore an island to restock their food and water supplies. Sinbad was looking for a source of fresh water when he spotted a small patch of ruined wall. Walking past the former wall was a liter carried by two red-skinned natives. Sinbad had never seen people quite like these before. He figured they had never seen a person quite like himself too so he stayed hidden. The natives looked very savage, so Sinbad hurried back to the crew to let them know the less time they spent on the island the better.
  10. Traditionally seen, 2016 starts in Belgium with Brick Tricks in Tielt. It is a rather small local exposition with a nice atmosphere. 5 years ago, it was the very first event Captain Greenhair participated. And to celebrate it, he came back this year! And he even took the very godfather of fregates, the tutorial and inspiration for most of us! So it turned out we would be both on the exposition, we agreed to make the very first BoBs collab in history!!! Too bad we soon discovered we both are Eslandolan... So Corrington and Oleon might be underrepresented... Anyway, enjoy!!! Btw, the weekend of 12 & 13th November, the biggest exposition of Belgium takes place, in Antwerp. For this year, we are going for a BOBS Pirate lay-out of 100 square meter!!! We really are going for the biggest pirate lay-out ever! So if you want to be part of this, feel free to send me a message :D :D A global picture I also made some promotion, so maybe we'll get some new members in the future :D Some extra pictures Enjoy! (btw, is this a freebuild of both CGH and me or not?)
  11. Freebuild #2 Feb. 2016 Previously, Susieh and her crew were monkeying around with an escape plan. They bribed a monkey with a banana in exchange for the cell key. After opening the cell lock with key, they sneaked out and headed towards the Mardierian Harbour to find their ship, the White Skull. At the harbour or rather under the harbour, we found our Sea Rats using a tried and true technique for ship theft. They quietly climbed up the anchor chain. Once on deck, Susieh overpowered the unlucky guard. Her crew quickly gained control of the White Skull. Susieh felt good to have her ship back as they sailed away from Mardierian territory. She wanted to give Mardier the finger but LEGO hands didn't seem to have fingers for pirates to make rude gestures. She sighed and gave a goodbye wave.
  12. Dramatis Personae: Holy crap! How much further do we have to walk in this jungle?! My mosquito bites have mosquito bites! Bear with it for just a little while longer, Lucy. It appears that this path is leading to something more significant. OH! There it is! Given the feminine nature of this statue, it would appear that the Choochoochootuklukchoo people worshipped this goddess to bolster the fertility of the civilization. I'll say! I'm feeling my fertility being quite bolstered by standing in front of her! PHYSIOLOGY!!! Hold it! Wait! Aren't we supposed be locked up in a Mardier prison, according to the latest issue of the Kings Port Advertiser? Yes, yes, that. Well, Challenge 1 is due before the Freebuild to explain what happened in the MCRA Result from last month, so we are doing this scene first. TIME TRAVEL!!! Oh shut up, Alois! Wait...wha-what is Peacock doing to the statue?! FORNICATION!!! That...that's indecent! We...we can't show that here! Stop him, Professor, stop him! He's desecrating an ancient ruin! You stop him, Lucy. I'm not getting in the way of that. Comments and criticisms are all welcome!
  13. Challenge 1 B Banana Republic by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Our pirate Susieh and her crew came upon a small island in Terra Nova. Danger appeared to lurk on the island. Upon landing on the beach, our pirates smelled a sweet intoxicating banana vapour and followed the scent to a group of natives. They seemed friendly enough. Susieh proceeded to negotiate a trade. Susieh drove a hard bargain with the native islanders. The islanders sought more bananas for their Master Brewer.
  14. Challenge 1 A A band of natives on a small island in Terra Nova has a pretty intoxicating operation going on hidden in the jungle. They brew special banana juice. It is rumored to be more tasty than rum and knock you off the feet instantly. To brew this wonderful concoction large amounts of bananas are needed. Maybe more than they have on their island. Banana Juice by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Does this mean they will be raiding a planation somewhere?
  15. Jan 31st, 615 AE Parakeet, At Sea Dear Brother, Yesterday the Parakeet sprung a leak. We were obliged to beach her in a convenient, protected cove. With her hove down and the cargo landed, we were able to come at the hole and affect a temporary repair. We took the opportunity to careen her as we also found a fair amount of weed. I begin to understand why Old Bill was so willing to wager her in last month's game of piquet. She is very fast, but she is old, and frankly many of her planks need replacing. That said, once we've made a few improvements, I believe she will prove an ideal vessel for our new business. Your Humble Servant, Richard Walton, Esq Here are a couple of extra pictures for anyone curious about her devilish construction. She is intended to be a two masted lugger. The three masted lugger was the preferred rig of English Channel smugglers, but I thought that would be far too big for a Class 2F, so I went with a two-master.
  16. Shiver me timbers. The Sea Rats ran into the Mardier on their recent MCRA. Everyone sing with me to :Hands up, baby, hands up Gimme your ship, gimme, gimme your ship... Surrender by dr_spock_888, on Flickr With their ships captured, the surviving crew were thrown into a cell. Their fate was uncertain. Mardier Cell by dr_spock_888, on Flickr But there may be hope. 17. Dramatis Personae: Somewhere in the ocean... LAND HO!!! Ho? Aw yeah. Shut up! Just shut up! Alois is correct, there is a small island visible in the distance. There also appear to be some sort of primitive dwellings. You three, take the ship's boat and investigate. This may be our chance at discovering a new culture. Wait, the ship's boat is different. Yes, Bregir suggested that the previous ship's boat looked too modern in appearance and I agreed with him (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=120267). So I decided that instead of the brickbuilt one that we presented before, we would just use the prebuilt one. How can something look "too modern"? Isn't modern now? He meant that it looked too much like ships from the future which have not been designed, yet. Then shouldn't he have said that it looked "too futuristic"? Oh, quit arguing semantics and get going already! LINGUISTICS!!! +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Later, on the island... Welcome to our island home! I'm Amy! And this is my sister Jessica! Why, hello there! Well, hello there yourself! I'm "Motorboat", and you don't need to know these other two people. In fact, I'm all your sister and you will need from now on! Wait. Your names are Amy and Jessica? Aren't you supposed to be primitive natives? And where did you learn our language? We prefer to be called indigenous peoples. And we have adopted names given to us by earlier explorers, because my name in my native tongue, ttcpkkjkvgmkmbzbqgtfrzsdgt, seemed to be too difficult for the explorers to pronounce. That's where we also learned your language. Igneous people? Well, I'm certainly as hard as an igneous right now! GEOLOGY!!! That's "indigenous" you scrotum-skull! Where's everyone else? Oh, it's just me, my sister, and about 30 other young women living here on this island, where all we do is undress, bathe in the nearby lake, play while naked in the lake, get dressed, and then undress, and bathe again. Lucy, I have never asked anything of you before. But now...I'm begging you, leave me here. Please, take Alois and get back in the boat and return to the professor and tell her that I fell overboard and drowned. And tell her that there was nothing of note on this island. What about Rebecca? Who? YOUR FIANCEE! Oh, yeah, her...yeah, tell her the same thing. I fell overboard and drowned. No...something's not right here. Amy, Jessica, where did your men go? Oh, um...our tribe suffers from this Y-linked disease where the men die just shortly after reproductive age. So it's just us women on the island! In fact, your man "Motorboat" here could help the 30 poor and very lonely indigenous young women here, including me and my sister, repopulate the island with men, since he doesn't have the Y-linked disease. GENETICS!!! PLEASE, LUCY, LEAVE ME HERE!!! Genetics hasn't even been discovered, yet! Alright, we're leaving! ALL OF US, INCLUDING YOU, PEACOCK! As much as I'd like to abandon you here and never see you again, my conscience would gnaw at me worse than you ever will. Alois, drag him back to the boat! BIOMECHANICS!!! No, wait! Yes, wait! Alois, take us out of here! NOOOOOO!!! Damnit! +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Crap! They're leaving! I guess that means no dinner tonight? I don't get it! That genetics line always works! Maybe Amy screwed up the lines! We should make sure Jessica says them next time! Great. What are we supposed to eat now? I don't know. Do you really need your non-clubbing arm? +++++++++++++++++++++++++ All comments and criticisms welcome!!!

  20. Dramatis Personae: With the Wave of Knowledge, now we can sail from port to port and attend scientific conferences. Meanwhile, we can network and set up collaborations, as well as recruit faculty for the new university of Bastion. I'm guessing you'll register her as our free ship, a class 2 trade vessel? Indeed. She isn't the fastest vessel, but she can definitely carry specimens we discover on our scientific expeditions back to port. Her spacious hold also has enough room for the crew quarters and provisions. By removing the main deck, you can access the hold. Because a crew that sleeps together stays together! If you try to sleep with anyone other than Alois on this boat, I will rip your testicles off and shove them so far up your anus that you'll vomit them back out. ANATOMY!!! She also comes with a ship's boat and a pair of heads at the bow. Yes, my fantasy of defecating into a box in full view of everyone while being violently tossed about by the ocean waves can finally come true. My fantasy of watching you do that can come true, too! I swear I will kill you so hard, you will actually die twice. By the way, is there any reason why all the pictures we've shown are from the port side or bow? That's because the LEGO company got cheap and only prints the sails on one side, which forces fans of LEGOs to only display their builds from specific directions. Here's the ugliness in full view. Do you see this, LEGO? This is ugly! Help us help you by printing the sails on both sides! And that's that. I guess that wraps up this free build post. We're not going to reveal how the hull was assembled? And give away our secrets so others can copy our work? It's called "open source", get over it! Here's the bottom of the hull.... Wait! Stop! Too late! What have you done, Lucy!!! Oh, shut up! Comments and criticisms are all welcome!
  21. OoC: This is my 6th freebuild. If you are not a Sea Rat, please say you approve or give me a , thank you! Previously: Recruiting at Marco's This Is Not the Wealthy Housing of Rassilon Falling Out with Foxx Cantu's Fort in Rassilon This is a Class 2 A "Armored Sloop" Captain Fang studied his maps carefully as The Viper and its crew set sail from Rassilon. He knew this voyage would be very important as it was their first voyage without the status of Olean Privateer in many years. He didn't know how well the crew was adjusting to the change and feared a mutiny. It didn't help that his son, Li, was vying with him for authority on the ship. He knew that unless their prize was as large or larger than the sum they normally received from Lord Foxx, his days as a captain would be very short indeed. Knowing this, he had ordered extra kegs of powder and more cannon balls to be purchased and loaded on board. They would be ready for a fight if their prize didn't surrender easily. Armed with 4 cannons, The Viper had a nasty bite.
  22. OoC: This is my 5th freebuild. If you are not a Sea Rat, please say you approve or give me a , thank you! When last we saw Freddy, he was trying to keep his chickens out of his house. When he learned that trained chickens were in high demand, he decided to go into the trained chicken business! He worked night and day with his chickens and finally was satisfied with their progress. He scrapped together enough money to buy a row-boat and set out from Rassilon to take his chickens to the market in Bastion. He also brought along a pig. And while not trained like his chickens, the pig was rather tasty and would fetch a fine price at market. Unfortunately, the pig did not survive the journey.
  23. The map he sought was on LeBellan. That was sure enough to complicate things, but Leon Dracken was not put off... Perhaps he should have been. Finding himself locked up by the Oleon Navy was not part of the plan. Luckily, his cell overlooked the bay, and his crew were in town. The Garrison Commander had just finished bragging about Dracken's upcoming execution when the cannonball struck the corner of his cell. Moments later, Dracken was outside, and rescue - of sorts - approaching. The Oleon soldiers above him were not so lucky. Dracken's crew, including Master Gunner Kite, were coming, with a boat. Dracken readied himself for the jump to the boat. The soldiers would just have to rescue themselves. And then, Complications ensued... Unfortunately the lighting wasn't great while these pictures were being taken. These were the best of the bunch.
  24. Here we are finally! Welcome to our new home of Bastion! And who be ye? Ye dun look like a Sea Rat! Look everyone! This must be one of those ruffian scoundrel types I've read about in the brochures! Ah, but where are my manners? I am Ethylene Glycol, professor of science; and these are my students. This here is Lucy Liu, my senior graduate student. Don't mess with her, because she's Asian and knows martial arts. That and she's a bitter sixth year student who doesn't have enough papers to graduate. That wasn't a racist introduction at all. Besides, whose fault is it that none of my projects had interesting results?! And why did we even leave Corrington in the first place, Professor I-Lost-All-My-Funding-And-Had-To-Leave-The-University?! And what the hell is an Asian?! Do you see a place called Asia on this map?! I told you she was bitter. This here is "Motorboat" Peacock. People assume he is nicknamed after a seafaring vessel that has not been invented yet, but in fact, he is nicknamed after a thing he does with his mouth which is named after a seafaring vessel that has not been invented yet. For some reason, he is very popular with the ladies. BbbrrrrrrrrrrrrBbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrBBRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! And this is my newest student, Alois Bieber. He was a former Oleon soldier who had attended a seminar of mine to protest science, but instead got enlightened by my lecture and has since become an evangelist for science. FOR GREAT SCIENCE!!! Erm...hi. My name is NPC143. Oh, my poor soul. You are one of those non-player characters. Maybe if you try really hard, you will eventually become significant enough to have a name of your own in this story. <sniff> I just want to be a real boy! Don't we all? Anyways, we are here to establish a new university of higher learning here at Bastion! One unfettered by the idiotic scientific rigors that those Corrington stick-up-their-arses seem to adhere to with all the fanaticism of the Oleon religious zealots. You mean like replicating experiments to ensure that the results are reproducible and statistically significant? Gobbledygook! A single observable event is all that's required! Afterall, if it's not true, then why was it observed in the first place? Or like writing transparent Materials and Methods so that others can follow how one did an experiment and reproduce it if necessary? And give away my precious secrets?! Nonsense! They are lucky enough that I don't write my manuscripts in code, as it is. Um...okay. You there. You look tough, how did you lose your eye? I was in the laboratory one day performing an acid-base titration when my fiance barges in and throws my experiment in my face! She apparently had learned of a tryst I was having with my undergraduate assistant. You could say that she blinded me with science! Ha ha! Science giveth, but science can also taketh.... I'm sorry I asked. Oh, look at the time! We must be off! It's been a pleasure, I hope we'll meet again...er...NPC297. That's NPC143. Sure, whatever. Toodles!

Wooqui's sacred dolls by Christopher Briggs, on Flickr Along with the dolls, Wooqui carried a staff adorned with the head of the tribes' former chief...it apparently has "strong medicine," whatever that is... They also had a box of long sharp teeth....which they claimed come from a beast called "Oonguum" that swims these very seas..... Sacred teeth of the Oonguum by Christopher Briggs, on Flickr We helped them aboard and listened to their fascinating tales.....and set sail for this island to see what was going on for ourselves.... ==================================================== Thanks for visiting!
