  1. The possibility of a plague is something Avalonia cannot afford, and one of the first measures taken was to set up road blocks at regular intervals to prevent scared villagers (scared of the plague or the drow, or both) from making matters worse. The roadblock at the ruined tower of Ker Tazal, near Calder, is not the most impressive. In fact, it could be said it is one of the worst, a simple ladder blocks the path. But it works. The soldiers do as they are told and question travellers, wear protective cloth that covers their mouth and nose, and also keep an eye out for drow. Anders and Paul, on duty today, have had a rather quiet morning with few travelers. Right now they have just stopped a man and a young girl, travelling with a dog. It does not look like they will be much trouble. He says his name is Arthur and they come from Brevis. They seem look honest folk, and healthy, even if a bit weary of a few days in the road, but orders are orders: they will have to wait here for a patrol and be taken to Calder.
  2. Dang, had not realized I had not posted here yet :( I'll just leave a Cat A link here as a late entry. It was entirely my fault and I understand if it cannot be entered.
  3. Thank you all :) @MKJoshA, those are new bandanas, picked that pair from the ninjago hoverhunter I found at 66% discount
  4. Like Infernum commented, you really have developed a well-defined look for the Zugal. Always a pleasure to stare at your MOCs.
  5. The Swashbuckler and the Battle Godess look like great additions for Historica. The wizard is a little... child-like perhaps, but I don't recall seeing the "collar cloak" in that color before, and I guess his staff is cool. The bow from the Dino Tracker can also come in handy.
  6. Heh, my issue is not distance (after all, using a forum online is fine) but rather language. I could join the Danish LUG but my Danish is... okay-ish, so I'd have to google translate most posts :P Haven't really felt the need for bulk ordering anyway *shrug* I guess it will come with time :P
  7. I´d say Challenges are the main event, and community builds, like, "side quests" :P but on the other hand, having an awesome community build with as many members participating as possible sounds great

WoN Phase II: Battle at Hell's Gate

With every one of your threads, you make my mind a tad more scared to hear the name of Anfauglir Awesome work

    Character Intro- Kashifa ibn Mu'adh

Nicely done! I really like the last shot, it's the most narrow and at the same time shows the most of the entire MOC, plus it captures the air of mystery and discovery of treasure hunting. +1 for DoH credits

    Opening the Gates

    Well done once more :)
  12. Welcome to Kaliphlin ;) I finally have internet on the new place, woho! They can always die tragically :D I actually considered arming the GNAR ship with Greek/Barqan fire, but after some research it seemed it only would make sense in a drommond, and I didn't feel like 60 oars and oarsmen :P

    A Child's Dream

Really cool build, saw it at work a couple days ago and couldn't comment. It really made me go "wow" with the use of colors, and the towers are just wonderful, both in technique and color. +1 for wall technique#2, round walls and towers and art (who knows, the kid might grow to be an artist :D).

    Freebuild Arena MOC

Bravo, the opening/closing is genius! And also crammed with little details that really give life to the scene. Definitely looks like a vibrant city, +1 for Anthropology: City Scene. I have to agree with Gabe on Governing Body tho, that would usually be something more like a city hall/chieftain hut/throne room.

    [GNAR] Nocturnian Patrol Boat

    Beautiful build and amazing photography!
  16. I could trade my place with Dragonfire, don't have a particular preference
  17. More troops for the glory of the Valkarian Order! The Red Dragon Mercenaries is an ambitious organization of trained and skilled soldiers, renowned for its strict discipline. They have sided with Petera for the promise of wealth. Both infantry and the necromancer will fight hard, as long as they see the battle can be won. Red Dragon Mercenaries infantry Captain Anton Wyles commands a regular Red Dragon infantry squad, with 2 footmen that favor the wide sword and great shield, and 2 crossbowmen. They usually fight with a slow advance (the footmen never charge) and kill enemies with the strong power of the crossbows. Anton can either stay inside the formation and stab nearby enemies with a spear, or stay out of sight and charge enemies that approach the shield wall. These are regular troops; the footmen have low damage and high defense with the great shield and the crossbowmen have low defense but very high damage, but they lack range and accuracy. The captain is slightly better, but not much. If the odds seem unfavorable (over 65% chance to lose) they will try to retreat by slowly backing up, using the same slow advance technique but backwards. Faced with death, the footmen will fight to the last breath to cover Anton's retreat, if possible. Whether Anton is dead or not, does not change their behavior. Parts: Everything is from 2013 castle, except the hear armor on the horse and the captain helmet, from the old castle (6090, I believe) and the spear from CMF Xena, but any spear would do. Red Dragon Mercenaries necromancer Kharkhon the Necromancer is a powerful spellcaster that fights for the Red Dragon Mercenaries, using his magic to raise the dead or summon alien entities. He will usually run with a gang of skeletons (2 archers, 2 warriors) and summon his bound Obisidian Golems before battle. The Skeletons are terrible troops, way worse than average. They have low damage, low speed, low accuracy and low defense; they are simply a nuisance, even though they might land a hit every now and then. New skeletons can be summoned when they die. The Obsidian Golems are just like any regular troop but with incredibly high defense. Summoning golems is exhausting, and can only be used once per battle (if they die, they cannot be used until the next battle). The Necromancer himself is a much better fighter, with good damage with magic bolts and access to a repertoire of spells, most notably Hex, which reduces the size of an enemy for a certain duration. Kharkhon will flee if his minions are defeated at an alarming rate. Parts: Skeletons are easy to come by and any gear on them will work. The golems are nazgul from Weathertop with the old armor from space UFO (6900 and the like). The necromancer is the wizard from Dragon Mountain and the face is the old king from 6090 once more. Elf Assassins Some among the elves would like the plans of the Valkarian Order to come to fruition. One such group is the band of masked assassins lead by Falmoir the Mad, a band of stealthy infiltrators sworn to defend the borders of Avalonia, and view the Valkarian plan as a lasting solution to the current turmoil. Since they fight for the same cause, they have sided with Petera. They are all elite troops that specialize in eliminating high ranking targets. They will fight to the death for the cause they believe in. Parts: Mirkwood Elf Army for the elves with assorted hair, the bandanas come from the Ninjago Hover Hunter (they don't need those in particular, what matters is that they have some sort of concealment), Falmoir's head is the Lone Ranger's and the body is Kili from Attack of the Warg. The daggers are from the old Aquashark sets, but any short weapon will do.

    [GNAR] The Sirocco

The Sirocco The Sirocco is a Kaliphlin vessel that often patrols the eastern coast, hence the name (for the eastern wind). This is a warship entry for the Great Naval Arms Race (GNAR), a mean medium-sized war cog with veteran sailors, experienced troops and a wizard from Sultan's Gate for extra damage and support spells. The clear wood and lavender accents are deceiving, as most of its victims have discovered. Today, the Sirocco is testing new gear, new people and old wood in a test sail. The captain is learning how to use a new artifact, the sextant, a recruit has just joined, and Tiin Mar, leader of the Tower of Wizardry, is consulting with the adjunct wizard. Do not hesitate to click on the images for better resolution (in Flickr) and a bit longer description on some! Commentary: I believe the forecastle and the sail could be improved. For the sail, I did try making a custom one, but doesn't seem to be my thing, but I am quite happy how using the lateen sails from Pirate Ship Ambush worked out. They are far too rectangular (as opposed to square) but it works. For the forecastle, all tips for improvement will be appreciated.
  19. Just an update (that I haven't vanished into thin air), I'm moving to a new place this weekend because of a new job and I'm busy with the packing, but I'll soon be back with more Sultan's Gate and Ch II

    {CFA} Mercy Mission

Amazing robuko! Such a cute and well-built snail!
  21. The ramifications are quite interesting. It's not like ch. I where the winner was the faction that wrestled control, but more of which task succeeds, and it could mean that if the Drow Assault succeeds, Albion falls to the plague. I guess we'll find out in a few months :D I'll have to think which side to join.

    Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate

Should we enter Sultan's Gate builds in the HSS registry? After all, we are building the city (only, together, instead of just the "owner"). What do you all think?
