MOC: Updating the Classics (3) - 6057 Sea Serpent Revisited

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I would like to continue my MOC series "Updating the Classics".

(part 1: MOC: Updating the Classics (1) - 6018 Battle Dragon Revisited)

part 2: MOC: Updating the Classics (2) - 6049 Viking Voyager)

Some of you may know the great "Sea Serpent".

The set came out in 1992 and for some strange reasons, which I cannot reproduce, I happen to have bought the set (although that was the time of my dark ages).

Therefore I was lucky to still find much of the original parts, including the sail. Some, of course, have disappeared over time.

6057 Sea Serpent (Revisited & Original):

Once again, I have added Mitgardian colours. The gallion had to change from yellow to blue due to absence of the two smaller bricks.

It is still a very charming ship. Small but efficient.

6057 Sea Serpent Revisited:

My new version applies some of the new techniquesin hull design and my brick-sail-approach.

Colour-wise I have tried to stick to the original.

So far, this is the "revisited" version which I like the best.

C&C welcome!

This is a very cool version of the sea serpent. Very close to the original yet very unique at the same time. I like the Mitgardians too!

By far my favorite so far Captain! :)

I was waiting for this one, a great classic set and the remake is superb. I really like how the remake stays close to the original so much that is looks like and 'updated' version of the official set.

I love the brick built sail and tiled dragon. Keep it up!

Happy Building,

Sir Valiant~

Thanks for the kind feedback - let me answer a few comments:

My favorite yet! I hope this series continues.

Yes, I shall be able to add one or two creations (there were not too many castle boats, though).

Another real piece of excellent work. You sure like those boats, don't you?

Yes, me likes boats! Having posted a lot of stuff in the pirate forum ....

Yepp, you got the idea.

Actually, with this larger original model it was easier. Some of the other originals are really very very small.

So, once I create a large new version, it immediately is a bit off, though I try to keep the overall look & feel.

And yes, I am happy when I'm building. :sweet:

Nicely done. The classic Sea Serpent was one of my favourite for many reasons including the iconic sails and wide variety of minifigures in there. In your case, your brick-built sail was one of the nicest attraction in this update. Thank you for sharing.

Nice! Didnt have much castle back in the day so thanks for pointing in the direction of this set. Also putting some thought into building a boat or two so cheers for the example.

Yepp, the classic Sea Serpent is pretty fine in itself.

I've been building boats (or I tried to) for some time in the pirate section of Eurobricks.

I hoped to reuse some approaches.

A very good third part of the series. Cool you still found the original sail...

The update is faster though - more rowers power.

I am happy to still have the original sail. :sweet:

I'm really digging the brick built sail

Me too

It seems to look like a red dragon. And that's enough.

Very nice update, CB, it's great that you kept the color scheme and basic shape but at the same time made it a lot bigger

Excellent work on the brick-built sail, and of course I like the inclusion of the Mitgardian sig-figs and colors!
