Seven small 1950s freight cars of five designs. Each was built to a length of about 16-18 studs per car with two bogies per vehicle. (Originally they had just two fixed axles when originally built, but this was recently fixed to be more prototypical for American freight cars.) The whole train going into a tunnel. The freight cars are (Left to Right): - cattle car - boxcars (x2) - flatcar with bulldozer load - Octan petroleum tankers (x2) - caboose This livestock car was heavily inspired by the one in 2014 CITY set 60052 but with a roof for more realism. I can now understand why LEGO left it open top in the set, but I managed to make it work. The roof (which was designed with the same look as the boxcars) is even removable and the ramps fold down so you can take out the cow. These two identical boxcars were inspired by set 7597 from the 2010 Toy Story 3 line. They were expanded in length and had the roof trapdoor removed. Here we see a small 1950s-looking bulldozer on a flatcar. The construction equipment was inspired by CITY set 60140, except in yellow with 46 technic links as the caterpillar tracks instead of red with rubber one-piece tracks. Other things such as headlights and gears (for the treads) were added, and the blade was shortened in width by two studs. These two oil tanker cars came from my own imagination, and are made in Octan livery. This caboose model is slightly inspired build-wise by the Katy Caboose (as in, "The Caboose who got Loose" from the children's book) model I copied in late 2021 from @zephyr1934's MOC. Thoughts? -
Recently I reverse engineered what I could of the 1950's-styled 'lead sled' in upcoming summer 2024 set 60408 - Car Transporter. I didn't have pictures of the rear (and obviously instructions were also a no-go at this time), so improvised as best I could using what I thought looked reasonable for a fifties car. I managed to get 99% of the car built from one picture. The front of the car with the vehicle's owner. I can build the car in other colors, (yellow and red are among the possibilities currently) but I'm keeping my lips sealed on what the future holds... The rear of the car. Admittedly, I stole the taillights design from this old @hachiroku MOC. The inside seats one figure at the wheel. Here is the original car from set 60408, which releases this August in the USA. This is the one picture I used to build the car MOC, which was cut from a much larger picture and greatly expanded in size. ...That's all I got. This somewhat spooky, gothic-looking modular building was inspired by the tavern in Harry Potter set 76388 - Hogsmeade Village Visit, with a color scheme lifted from 75583 - Minions and Gru's Family Mansion. The car was reverse engineered from what I could see of the 1950's 'lead sled' in upcoming summer 2024 City set 60408 - Car Transporter. I added a back half to the building, built another level, plus I put in a conservatory and a fireplace flue. I also changed the coloring to dark bluish gray with a black roof, from the original dark tan with dark gray roof. The building folds open on a hinge, and as such lifts away from the modular compatible base to allow for you to open the building. The rear isn't that exciting too look at, but it does it's job well enough. Inside the front of the building, the lower floor has a dining room, while the second floor has a well-stocked library. The third floor is the attic space. In the back of the house, on the lower level we see the living room and conservatory. (this latter area flips open for access) Moving onto the second floor is the bedroom. (the black thing with trans-blue glass is a fish tank) Finally, the attic is located on the third floor and is mostly vacant. The modular base can also be removed from the building. I was inspired by Overwatch set 75972 (Dorado Showdown) to create this modular small town auto repair shop with 1950s tow truck. I call the building Smokeys Garage. The building features a raised platform for cars to roll onto and be worked on, with folding ramps to keep the broken-down vehicle (in this case a dark blue Ford Anglia set 75953 MOD) in place. The front of the building. I've been working on this tow truck and building on and off basically since the Overwatch theme released in 2019. The rear of the building featuring a few empty oil barrels and some old engines. The main floor of the building, with the ramps lowered for receiving a broken-down car. Several types of tools hang from the walls. Upstairs on the second floor is the employee break room. The eight wide hover-truck from Overwatch set 75972 has been turned into a 6-studs wide 1950's-style tow truck. Rear of the truck. The hook is too high off the ground to actually pull anything... The cab roof is removable to seat the driver behind the wheel. This 1960s car is a heavily modified version of the Ford Anglia in the 2018 Harry Potter set 75953 - Hogwarts Whomping Willow, remade into dark blue. It has broken down, and is being worked on at Smokeys Garage. (my most recent modular building) The rear of the Anglia. The car has an opening trunk and cabin doors, and also seats one figure. EDITED 8/14/24: So, it's taken quite a while, but it's finally done! Enjoy the MOC!

I finally took pictures of this MOD of Overwatch set 75972 I've been working on basically since the set released in 2019. It's been turned into a 6-studs wide 1950's-style tow truck, and seats one figure at the wheel. The front of the truck. The rear of the truck. The cab roof is removable to seat the driver behind the wheel. NOTE: The vehicle might get changed to black later on because a printed grille (the same part type I'm already using here) in CITY 4+ set 60435 is coming out, and I always wanted the grille on my tow truck to be more pronounced. Only time will tell if this truck gets color swapped or not... Thoughts?

I based this vintage dump truck MOC off the Moving Truck GWP (set 40536) from last year. I made the cab 6 wide and added a new back half. Two each of these brackets are missing from the LDD file: 36841 in black is needed for the front bumper 36840 in yellow is needed for the headlights The rear of the dump truck with the bed lowered. The MOC seats two figures, while the cab doors open and the bed raises to dump the load. Free LDD file available at Bricksafe. Thoughts?

Hello fellow EB members. I've been working on a mid-century house interior as I was influenced by the housing magazines from the time. There are many features you might find in a home of that era. Textures on the walls, a sloped roof and a open-plan feel. Hello fellow EB members. My latest MOC is called Atom Bowl. It's inspired by mid century architecture. I had intended to make it full on Googie but couldn't quite replicate some of the wild shapes prevelant in that style such as boomerangs. I recreated set 40586 (Moving Truck GWP) in blue, and changed the wheels, rear-view mirrors, front bumper, and a few other things. You may be asking why I chose blue for the truck. The answer is simple: I had two blue wheel arches lying around unused, and this neatly solves that! The rear of the truck. The roof comes off and the ramp slides out. Also in this picture you can see the cabin door opens. The roof of the cab section also comes off to seat a driver at the wheel. Thoughts?

"This is the police! Come out with your hands up, we have you surrounded! Surrender now, or we are going to use force!" These two identical models were heavily inspired by a Checker Taxicab build I found on Rebrickable by user Labronco Brick Designs. (This builder had reverse engineered the taxi from the LEGO City Undercover video game) I changed the model around a lot to create a '50s police car. This car isn't based on anything too specific (but apparently there WERE Checker police cars in Springfield, Michigan at one time!), but it does get the general "look" of the stereotypical 1950s police car correct, from the single red 'gumball' light on top to the streamlined styling. You can see the original builder's model (alongside a whole bunch of other cool cars from the video game) and their accompanying free instructions here. The rear of the car with the stylized taillights and non-functional trunk latch. Each vehicle seats two: an officer upfront, and a suspect behind. That's all I have for these models, and thoughts / comments / questions / feedback in general would be appreciated!

This updated version of my 2023 MOC of the UP house - set 43217 (and a back half addition I found on Rebrickable by user rykfield) features a new removable modular footprint. The green Studebaker is also new. This version of the house folds open and locks shut on a Technic pin. I built the house's rear half from some movie-accurate instructions on Rebrickable, as seen here. The rear half of the house. The lower floor features a living room, foyer, and dining room while the upper floor features a bedroom and music room. This is the inside of the front half of the building. The rear half of the house's interior. Most of the furniture seen in these two pictures is recolored from the Friends 'Downtown Flower shop and Furniture Store' (set 41732) along with a few pieces from the 'Moving Truck GWP' ( set 40586) and the original UP house itself. The removable modular base without the house. It features a birdbath, driveway, and opening gate. This car's bullet-nose front end was inspired by the look of the 1950 / 51 Studebaker Commander while the color scheme and rear bodywork were inspired by a old Indiana Jones MOC by @hachiroku. The rear has two coverings partially obscuring the rear wheels, in true '50's elegance. The roof comes off to place a figure at the wheel and in the backseat. This mini fig (the owner of house and car) is modeled after my Great Uncle Jack. (the family just calls him Uncle Jack) He's an ex-Marine, Korean War vet, and tough as nails with razor-sharp wit. Yet he's also the nicest, most friendly man you'll ever meet. NOTE: Sorry for the dark colors of the photos. My phone hates taking pictures of things that are blue and / or green. I had three different light sources, and it still turns out too dark! Thoughts?

My model This model is not based of the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set. I just think that the set doesn't really look good and decided to do my completely own 59 Cadillac. I had a lot of building this iconic 50s car. I'm really happy with the end result, I think the pink is the perfect color for the 59 Cadillac, even though it is not a original color. This car has an realtivitely detailed interior but does not really support minifigs. The model is 8.4 studs wide, 24.2 studs long and about 5 bricks high. This model is quite stable, so you can use this model as a display piece but you can also play with it. The instructions for this model are easy to follow and for free. If you want to modify this model, no problem, just download the Stud.io 3D file and start building. If there are any problems with the instructions, please contact me. I spent a lot of time and effort in this model so I would be happy if you reply to this topic! I recently saw this one film with like ghost and all kinds of weird stuff… You probably never heard of it. Anyway they had like a 59 Cadillac Miller Meteor...thing. Do you think I should build it? "Ah, it feels good to be in a bear's natural habitat... a Studebaker" - Fozzie Bear Here is Fozzie's 1951 Studebaker Commander from the original Muppet movie in its original rusty condition. It should fit Fozzie Bear and Kermit the Frog, but I make no promises on the banjo fitting for the “Movin' Right Along” musical sequence. Sadly, the roof is very hard to remove (and this being reddish brown of unknown vintage) that I fear removing the roof to place the two figures inside will shatter parts. The Muppet CMF's my dad bought will thus just have to stand next to the car. (Its not like you can see inside the car to see them driving anyway!) Even if I could get the roof off, Kermit has to sit in the backseat as there isn't enough room up front for both side-by-side. In fact, they have to be centered in each row of seats to fit at all, due to arm constraints. In a show I saw about this film they mentioned the following factoid: The car seen in long-distance tracking shots was an identical second car, while the one with the closeups / scenes of Fozzie visibly driving had the steering re-connected to a wheel in the trunk, along with the relocated pedals and shifter. They also mounted a TV camera in the nose of the car, and a monitor in the trunk, so the driver could see where he was going. ...and that's all I've got. But before I go, I'll leave you with this: “Someday we'll find it, The LEGO Connection, The Designers, the MOC-ers and Me"

Here we see a typical flying saucer of Martian origin, landed on the surface of some place called Roswell, New Mexico. It seems the ship's pilot, Marvin, has something to say to us: "I claim this planet in the name of Mars! Isn't that lovely?" The rear of the UFO... but since I've identified it as Martian flying saucer, doesn't that make it an IFO? (Identified Flying Object) The vessel stands Marvin at the controls quite comfortably, with sadly no room to spare for the Martian flag. Looks like you're going to have to leave it behind, Marvin! The underside of the vessel, with the landing struts and some sort of engine nozzles visible. Thoughts, comments, questions, and so on appreciated!

I got the Lilo and Stitch beach house (set 43268) on March 1st, with the intent of making it have a back half and fit on a removable modular baseplate. I removed the flying saucer-thing from the roof and got rid of all the new reddish orange from the model, while more furniture was added. All the Disney-centric parts were removed as well, so it is now just a regular house. front of the house The rear of the house. The inside details of the front half. This includes a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The inside details of the back half feature the dining room and the other half of the bathroom. Here's the modular base without the easily-removable house attached. This car is a MOD of 2021 set 40448 - Vintage Car GWP (from Ideas) I removed the surfboards from the side, and altered the way the colors a bit on the back, and a few other things I can't recall. An addition to the cannon. I'll be buying the parts to build this soon. You can see it at my BrickLink Stud.io page (link in signature), and if you download or view in 3D you will see the internal details through the open back for play/display - Winter Village style. Scaled to fit my short-form EN-style carriages (24-stud plate; also available at my Stud.io page, with other content including more train stuff) which are hauled by a modified PF'd Constitution engine. Suggestions for improvements welcome.

I recently received the CREATOR set "Corner Deli" (31050), and I decided it needed an upgrade to better fit my Town's standards. I added a third level and rear walls to all the models' floors. I added a desk for the private eye whose office is on the top floor, plus inside and outside seating on the street level for patrons of the deli. Unfortunately, my creative juices ran out by way of the second floor furniture, so it is sadly empty. The rear of the building features exposed brickwork in places giving this a New York City (or any older big city, really) like feel. The upstairs detective office features a desk, chair,and light with a secret hiding spot for something small, maybe a pistol. This floor is also lacking two of these printed windows. Sadly, their is nothing on this floor as I couldn't think of what to put in there. The Deli sign hooks onto the outdoor balcony, next to the rainwater downspout I added to every floor. The lowest floor features a delicatessen with a deep fryer, grill, indoor / outdoor seating and a serving window with cash register. This car was originally based on the car from set 10232, (Palace Cinema) along with a front end inspired by set 70906. (The Joker Notorious Low-rider) You can also build this car in red or black instead if you so desired. The rear of the car with the spare tire. The car features seating for one driver figure, plus a spare tire at the rear of the car on top of the opening trunk. The LDD file is available for both car and building at Brick-safe at this link. As I already have 90% of this build's parts already, I will be ordering this next along with the clock tower for my train station. Hello fellow EB users. I've created a home based on Mid-century architecture mainly inspired by homes in Palm Springs. I've used loosely based A-frame design usually found in cabins which would use a timber constructed roof but I've went with a 'concrete' one hence the use of white. I added some features form the time such as the porch with a patterned wall to allow light to pass through and some external tiling to the front as well as large windows. Only a couple of pics and no interior but I hope to work on a standalone period design soon enough. They can also be found of my flickr stream here: here Regards!

Following the events of The LEGO Movie 2, Emmet got to work on building Lucy and himself their dreamhouse again. He made it a little bigger, a little better, and a lot stronger... just in case of any future Duplo attacks. It also features an attic for extra storage space, on top of the already-new second story. The model opens up like a dollhouse, and lock shut on a technic pin. The building itself (not the furniture) was originally inspired by pictures of Brick City Depot's "Winter Village Victorian House". The furniture (and house colors) were partially inspired by set 70831: Emmet's Dream House/Rescue Rocket, a few of the official modular buildings, and a bed from 75930: Indoraptor Rampage at Lockwood Estate Inside the front door is the living room, with record player, vintage rabbit-eared TV and Aqua-colored couch. In the next room, right across the divide, we have the stove / oven unit, and Planty happily sitting on a side table at the turn of the staircase. Upstairs, at the top of the landing, we have a grandfather clock, table lamp, and rotary telephone. Across the divide is the bed and a cabinet. Above that, is the empty attic. The rear of the house features a chimney flue connected to the kitchen stove. This is located right next to the back door, which is not really visible in this picture. (you can see it more in the front view, as it's on the side of the house, next to the kitchen area.) Inspired by this recent @hachiroku build here, which was based on the sand green Army staff car from Indiana Jones IV. This car fits in with Emmet's original smart car (from the first TLM) color-wise, but just a little older style-wise. The roof is held on by four studs, and is as such removable. I have also included light bluish gray upholstery for the back of the seat, which can fit two people inside. The rear has a license plate and two coverings partially obscuring the rear wheels. NOTES: I apologize for the visible dust in some places, it's been a month since I built these MOCs, and have now gotten a small backlog on picture-taking. (I just took these photo's today.) Just another imagining of Emmett's house from after the events of The Lego Movie 2, in colors of set 70831, (Emmet's Dream House/Rescue Rocket!) but in the style of 10228. (Haunted House) The model opens up like a dollhouse, and lock shut on a technic pin. This flight of fancy is 100% build-able in real bricks, should I ever choose to do so. The black antenna you see on the roof is for the TV inside the house. You may ask: "Why does a Edwardian home have a vintage TV antenna?" Here is the answer: The home is based in the interior decorating styles of the 1950's, but was originally built in 1910's. It was bought as a gutted wreck by Emmet and Lucy a couple years back, and they restored it to it's former glory. (with some mid-'50's-esque additions, of course) On the side of the house is the kitchen door, which leads to the car in the driveway. On the opposite side of the home is the chimney flue, with TV antenna attached at the top. Inside the front door is the living room, with vintage rabbit-eared TV, Planty, a lamp, and Aqua-colored couch. Also on this floor we have the stove / oven unit. Upstairs is the rotary telephone and grandfather clock. The double bed, record player, and a display cabinet are also on this floor. The studs on the new fireplace should have number tiles reading 1914, as that's when the house was built.... and it's 100 years before the original LEGO Movie came out. (The two medium blue posters on the second level should have stickers depicting Emmett & Lucy both as pictures in frames.) The car is inspired by this recent @hachiroku Indiana Jones 4 build as seen here. This car fits in with Emmet's original smart car color-wise, but just a little older style-wise. (Most of the car model is already built from my last model of Emmett's house, but a few parts for the new lower side skirts are still needed.) The rear has a license plate and two (new!) coverings almost fully obscuring the rear wheels, in true early-'50's style. Six new brackets are missing from the car model on the rear bumper. (Two of these pieces in Light Bluish Gray, along with Four of this part in Black are required to finish the car.) The roof is held on by four studs, and is as such removable. I have also included light bluish gray upholstery for the back of the seat, which can fit two people next to each other. (Emmett and Lucy are the most likely occupants, obviously.) I was inspired by set's 75972 (Dorado Showdown) and 75953 (Hogwarts Whomping Willow) to create this small town auto repair shop with flat-bed tow truck called Smokey's Garage. The building features a raised platform for cars (such as the Anglia) to roll onto and be worked on, with folding ramps to keep the broken-down vehicle in place. NOTE: The front of the building is missing sixteen of this part in dark bluish gray above the second floor windows and the side door on the first floor. Also, two of these printed 2 x 4 tiles go on the hanging sign out front of the garage. The front of the building, with the ramps lowered for receiving a broken-down car. The rear of the building folds open to allow access to the inside. The upper floor is the break room, with a rock-n-roll album on the table, and hi-fi stereo system in place to rock around the clock..... at least during business hours! Here is the album piece. The rear of the building. This truck is basically a stretched version of the hover-vehicle in the Dorado Showdown set. It is missing two light-bluish gray ones of these (used as the back of the headlights in the set) as they don't fit where they are supposed to go in the model due to a LDD glitch. I added regular-size wheels, and safety stripes to the deck, which sadly does not lower into a ramp like a real truck would... but it does just barely fit the Anglia IRL! Here is the flatbed tow truck and the '67 Anglia in real bricks, plus the two workers Charlie "Smokey" Jones (on left) and Caroline "Carol" Jones (on right). Smokey owns the garage when this picture is taken (It's 1969 in-universe) and does the heavy diesel work and home cooking, while his wife Caroline does the gasoline engines and book keeping. They have a daughter, named Josephine Jones (nicknamed "Jo" and isn't present here) who is in training at trade-school to become a mechanic. She will shortly join the family business in 1970, and takeover from diesels when Smokey dies in 1976. Carol stays on until 1983, when she retires to work on restoring a Ford Model A as a pet project. Jo renames the business "Jo's Garage" in 1985 after moving to a new location (seen in set 10264, Corner Garage) in the downtown area when the older building became too outdated and small. She continues to run the garage today, even bringing her son Franklin into the family trade as of 1997.. NOTES: I just bought the Dorado Showdown when it was $18 (US) from Amazon and then I went and subtracted all the parts I could find for this project in my own parts bins from the BrickLink file. The truck and Anglia themselves are finished already without ordering anything, and the building is down 200+ bricks from when I started looking for parts... still need to order around 520 more. (MODS: I just thought it would be easier to see the car in a forum where it would be more in-tune with it's origins... I.E. a town-based car. If you need to move it, go ahead,I just thought it would fit here best.) Inspired by this recent @hachiroku build here, I have completed this new early 1950's car for Benny, who seems pretty happy with it. It will go nicely with my very '50's retro-looking Astrotrain (see it here in Train Tech), of which the final parts for have arrived... but that won't be built until late December. (It's a Christmas present from my family, so I have to wait.) The rear has a license plate, the classic space logo, and two coverings partially obscuring the rear wheels. The roof is held on by four studs, and is as such removable. The two doors open, but the obligatory space seat is missing, because any more height and Benny would not fit inside. As a courtesy to the driver instead, I have included a light bluish gray upholstery for the back of the seat. This is a comparison picture between Bob's 1960's sports car and Benny's classy 1950's automobile (More of which you can see in my Classic Space topic, and in my Nexus Force thread, both of which are in the sci-fi forum) Well, what do you think?

Hello all you Lego fiends. Today I'd like to share my latest creation. A 1950's style pickup truck. Complete with junk in the back! This thing has been in the making for a very long time. I build slow....... I'm usually mostly over in the Technic forum. But I have really enjoyed just building with 'system' bricks. Anyway, without anymore rambles, here's the pictures. This Classic Space version of Build Better Bricks' Iron Giant with the head of the previous @hachiroku version of the Giant's head added on. (consider it a mashup of the two Iron Giant models!) The car was also inspired by this Hachiroku build here, and was originally made by me in September 2020. I have just now revised this early 1950's car for Benny with new mudguards that cover the (enlarged) two rear wheels. I made both MOC models into CS colors (black, both "new" grays, and blue, with white for the car roof) with red and green indicator light parts (on the robot only), and two yellow / black bumblebee stripe tiles with a printed 4 x 2 slopes on the arms / car trunk lid. (They aren't shown, but have this print) The gray jumpers near the robot's waist are for power conduits, so he can be recharged without consuming (costly!) metal products via his opening mouth. Speaking of which, the mouth now can open to allow for posing... but unfortunately, it doesn't play nice with the shoulders, so the mouth must remain closed until I can figure out a better solution. Another thing that didn't work well was the rotating waist: it operated too jerkily and was hard to operate, so I removed that feature. The rear of the robot. Not sure if it's a feature, but the arms won't go down any further to the sides... I tried everything I could think of, but no dice. This is because the arms can't be removed without destroying the awesome-looking - and very intricate - torso. Looks pretty classy, right? The two doors open, but the obligatory black space seat is missing, because any more height and Benny would not fit inside. The rear has a license plate, the classic space logo, and two coverings mostly obscuring the rear wheels. As a courtesy to the driver instead of the space seat, I have included a light bluish gray upholstery for the back of the seat. Been working on a MOC, Robby the Robot from "Forbidden Planet" (1956) and a host of other movies and TV shows. This design inspired the Lost In Space robot that it's often mistaken for, but Robby is much cooler. All purist other than some cut stickers. I want to get one of the adult Belville blondie dolls after lockdown to better recreate the poster pose, rather than using the child one I had available. A bit fragile in places, but I'll think how to sturdy it up over the next little while no doubt.
