[MOC] Working Elevator
JM1971 replied to legolifty's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What about 2 way switching like you have on the top and bottom your stairs, either light can be switched on or off from the top or bottom. So you have a standard lego switch one each floor once the lift knocks it off and stops dead on each floor, but the external switch set to the opposite pole starts it up again. -
[MOC] Working Elevator
JM1971 replied to legolifty's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I believe there are 3 switches per floor in a lift, 2 of which are above and below the stop point, these are used to slow the motor and then the one in the middle to stop it. If the ev3 motors are stepper motors then the control brick will know exactly where to stop for each floor and you also might be able to add a slowdown just before stopping for a nice smooth ride. -

My dad used to work for konecranes, he said your lift is far smoother than the real thing. :D -
I did a C model ages ago with the 9398 set... http://rebrickable.com/mocs/JM1971/honda-atc It was a honda atc 3 wheeled bike, fun but inherently unstable just like the real thing.

Nice to see your still doing this mod, I thought maybe try and put the xl motor in the wheel and have something rotate the motor to steer. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hg8dd6wf022f34w/BM.jpg?dl=0

A monumental undertaking indeed as the arkham knight tank is a really complex vehicle, looking good with what you have done so far.

[MOC] EV3 Cookie Icing Machine
JM1971 replied to touthomme's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
All you need now is a lego cookie monster. :D -
Sweeeet, and even has a working supercharger, very nice. It was hardly in the new mad max film yet it was the star of the original trilogy, I was dissapointed with the new film becuause of that, but the interceptor lives again in lego. :D

[MOC] RC Motorcycle
JM1971 replied to Epic Technic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My motobike stays upright even when its not moving... http://rebrickable.com/mocs/JM1971/honda-atc Seriously though I would never of though of using a moving weight to steer a bike, I tried to make a 2 wheeled bike once and it was terrible so I cheated and went with 3 wheels, it so difficult to do a 2 wheeled bike, kudos. -

Hot Rod 9398 one set MOC
JM1971 replied to Flying-K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lego never makes stuff from existing sets or combinations anymore, its such a waste. Good to see someone making a moc from one set. -

I'll use grass instead, not the smoking kind lol. Before foam upholsterers used horse hair and hay. :)

Or, put the rim in the tyre while submerged in water, if you ever get a puncture you'll know instantly. :D

JM1971 replied to agrof's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would buy the set, if there was one that is, have you tried sending the design to lego? It's about time lego did something more exiting, the 9398 was a step in the right direction but then they went back to doing boring stuff. -
[MOC] Mad Max War Rig Midi
JM1971 replied to KirTech LAB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
At first glance I would of never of guessed it had so many RC functions and also moved like a rocket, A++++ work indeed. -
Over stuffing them with foam will create a bulge along the center, this bulge will cause the tyre to have less contact on flat surfaces and therefore be even faster, a harder tyre is going to be faster anyway, nice find. :) You can get foam on amazon, a one inch sheet should do, cut into strips with a electric carving knife and glue both ends together, also a more expensive option is memory foam unless you get a memory foam pillow and use the foam chips inside it to fill the wheels. PS. All foam is fire retardent now, thats what the sparkly bits are, not that you should be driving lego though fire. :D http://www.amazon.co...rds=1 inch foam http://www.amazon.co...arch_detailpage

Lego Technic GoPro studio
JM1971 replied to filsawgood's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Something I always wanted to try was how industrial light and magic made the special effects in the first 3 movies, a camera would move and the space ship model stays still and when its all complete it looks like the model is really flying, no strings lol. -

I just put up a vid and it seems ok, nothing about the music being copyrighted. Those old midi tunes from the 80's had a lot of bass. :D
