  1. Yeah its mostly play in the lego parts, Yeah, slack in the lego parts plus the differential can cause some drifting too, or at least thats how it seems, no big deal.
  2. Even when its lined up the 9398 tends to slew a little, its more noticable if you gear it up.
  3. They sure are, they can grind axles to dust and tear a gearbox apart if not careful. :D
  4. It a tad more expensive than I thought but it does have a lot of pf, good choice all around, it says ages 11-16 but that should be 11-65. :D http://shop.lego.com...el-Loader-42030
  5. That must be the one with the xl motors and that one is faster, I thinks theres one that uses the old powerful buggy motors as well.
  6. Pretty much what Alasdair said, a lot of what I'm seeing in the pictures is from the standard 42000 or another moc of the 42000.
  7. They are for the B-Model that you can download at lego.com, the last page is meant to represent those parts are spare.
  8. Very smooth turret mechanism and accurate targeting, realistic suspension, neat bodywork, this tank has it all, Makes me wonder if the ev3 gyro can be used to stabilize the gun on rough ground, like in this video.
  9. The creator of lightwave made a film about painting photo realistic images by researching and piecing together what Johannes Vermeer did in the 17th century long before the invention of cameras. Tim's Vermeer. Not strictly on topic but very interesting and in a way the first ray traced images,
  10. In the old days grey bushes and uni joints were always splitting where the axles connects, the black pins are very tough in comparison, it almost seems like the different colours have different strengths.
  11. If I followed this right, you made several files with the same piece but with different textures with LDD, then merged them so several textures were applied to the same piece, I'll have a play around and see if I can do it. My brother had a space collection back in the 80's, are those the ones you mean because they were neat.
  12. If you have a battery tester check each battery, I think with the 88000 if just one battery is dead it wont work.
  13. Videos are a good way, instructions, pics showing progress, stuff like that really. We all know stuff takes time to complete, some mocs take years even.
  14. The lego switch can be used to reverse motor polarity, so you can put all the motors on the same channel, depends on the design. This is something I would like to do but never found a way to make it work, so GL.
  15. Are you replacing the hover with wheels on free swivels (like a shopping cart) and then using the fan for propulsion and steering or putting drive to the wheels? Will be cool when its done.
  16. For me it means before power functions RC and mindstorms, back in the dark ages when you had to push stuff yourself, lol.
  17. I've tried a few times but cant get the right look, I have a 41999 and looked closely at the silver matt bricks but cant work out how its done, the closest I came was upping the amount of tiny bumps that are already part of this texture in LDD2POV. I'll try looking for a sand blasting type of finish done in povray, so maybe instead of bumps I'll try tiny indents.
  18. Maybe the update got corrupted, close LDD > delete db.lif > run LDD. Location C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db.lif
  19. Oops that should be 6 AA batteries which is around 11400 mAh, but I don't think they would last 10 hours, the man to ask is doc brown because he did rock crawler exhibition with a course he made and got though tons of batteries.
  20. 6 AAA batteries have a capacity of around 4500mAh, L Motors use between 225-450 mA per motor, so 5 hours at a guess. Check out eneloop batteries, they are pretty good.
  21. Little cars are much more fun to drive around the house and garden and such a challenge to conceive.
  22. Add this the top of your pov file. #declare ldd_normal_dullMetallic_255 = normal { bumps .005 scale 1 turbulence 0 } This is what is causing the abrasive effect in ldd_finishes.inc I think. #declare ldd_normal_dullMetallic_255 = normal { facets coords 0.38 scale 0.038 } //normal { bumps .2 scale .01 turbulence 0.3 }
  23. Interesting, and could be used for instructions like this, but not so many parts at once, thx for ideas.
  24. 3 More renders @ 1920x1080, 0.015 is a tad small for this resolution but would look great at 4k, 0.025 is the default I set to, the 9398 on the first post is 0.05, lastly a render at 1.0 and this is just weird.
  25. Sharing moc's fuel's interest, if you see anyone trying to sell your moc then add a reply linking to the free version.
