  1. Game was ahead of its time and still stands up today, nice details and anyone who's played the game will know where its from.
  2. 0.025 was the original setting I used but was not really enough to demonstrate it as the gap was unnoticeable in a lot of areas so I upped it to 0.05, I'll do some some renders soon with different values. Martin said in and email "Good solution for POV-Ray would be enhanced meshes. It should not be that difficult to add such algorithm for generating fillets. Many modelling tools support it, but I haven't seen the algorithm. So probably some custom has to be written." I don't really know what that means though.
  3. Image 1 shrinks every part to get a clean gap, Image 2 is default, both images took 2 minutes 47 seconds to render, compared to bevels this method is around 5000% faster, it does not work on parts like bushes on axles because they shrink the same amount. You can edit the file in a text editor to change the shrink size to suit your needs as shown below. #ifndef(ldd_ppv_x_shrink_amount) #declare ldd_ppv_x_shrink_amount = 0.025; #end #ifndef(ldd_ppv_y_shrink_amount) #declare ldd_ppv_y_shrink_amount = 0.025; #end #ifndef(ldd_ppv_z_shrink_amount) #declare ldd_ppv_z_shrink_amount = 0.025; Installation: Make sure povray and ldd2pov are closed, copy file below to your LDD2POV folder, make sure part position variances are checked and bevels unchecked in ldd2pov. https://www.dropbox....n_variances.zip Thanks to Martin the author of ldd2pov for helping me do this.
  4. The bevels add depth to the parts, but I reckon more reflection could be added to the top one to compensate. My inspiration came from van gough's lego bricks on the floor painting which is valued at 3 million dollars.
  5. My 41999 xl motors was pretty fast but has nowhere near the torque of the buggy motors, nice job.
  6. That was the best way but I couldent get it work with independant suspesion, so I tried this compact design instead, thanks for replies though.
  7. Made a custom part position varience file for ldd2pov to replace the default one to make gaps by slightly shrinking the parts... Top is shrink, botton is bevels, shrink is 5759% faster
  8. I see them on amazon for £500/$850/€610 since release and no one has bought them yet, thats just greed.
  9. Used and built but very good condition, never been used out doors and has only been though 1 set of batteries, box is good so are instructions.
  10. Something I noticed in the appdata folder after LDD failed to load some bricks, there was a file called unplacable bricks dump, it was a lfx file of the model I tried to load except it was all yellow and the bricks missing were red.
  11. Fair enough, but I'm right in the middle of doing a pf buggy, once the fix is done the firewall rule can be deleted and ldd will update itself, forgot to mention that.
  12. As well as other problems I've noticed because the newest update is removing suspension parts from a file created just a few weeks ago. Remove file - C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db.lif The add firewall entry to block this file from connecting to the net - "C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\LDD.exe" 1. From start menu, search for "Firewall" and select Windows Firewall with Advanced Security 2. Choose Outbound Rules from the tree at the left. 3. Choose New Rule... from the menu at the right. 4. New Outbound Rule Wizard opens. This is really easy now: a. Select Program as rule type. b. Select the program's EXE file. c. Choose Block the connection. 5. Choose the profile this rule applies to. If in doubt, select all three. 6. Add the descriptive name (you may want to delete this rule later). When you start LDD it will take around 15 seconds to give up trying to connect and will ask you if you want to run offline, press yes.
  13. They could fix the shock absorber that cant be used after the last update.
  14. Is the small technic shock absorber working for anyone? I can not select it from the side menu and every file I load that has this part it gets removed. Done a full reinstall including deleting the the folder in appdata and the problem persists.
  15. I'm doing a small short wheel base rc buggy that is powered on the rear one L-Motor per wheel, but there a lot of cogs so I was wondering about just powering the rear axel with no differential instead.
  16. Neat results there, Good old lightwave which started out on the amiga in the early 90's and was used to make the special effects of babylon 5 which was one of the first if not first tv series to use CGI and was also made in widescreen 16:9.
  17. These images are fasinating because my brain says a real looking lego model can not hang in the air like a computer generated model, really outstanding stuff because not many people have made cgi look real.
  18. Sometimes parts dont fit like they would for real, a way around this would be nice, like switching off collision detection temporary for those hard to fit pieces, plus also stop LDD from deleting bricks when loading if they dont fit exactly right.
  19. When I make renders for instructions I use an outline feature of ldd2pov and set the outline colour just a tad darker than the lego piece, its way faster than bevels and looks ok, maybe blender has a outline feature or something better like crimp or round off the edges etc. Somthing I'm trying is to explode the model ever so slightly to make a gap in the bricks, not going well though. I also do not get along with mlcad and its a pain to get it working on my rig, but a while back I tried out the linux version of mlcad (pic) and its very much like ldd, it was not stable with a dual boot set up but did work ok with vmware virtual machine for pc which is free.
  20. Nice way around the problem, if there was a way to do that with ldd2pov it would speed up renders so much, maybe there is way to move pieces automatcally within pov ray itself.
  21. Neat, every kid from 6-60 wants a buggy, good choice of wheels and body colour/panels plus independent suspension, swish.
  22. LDD2POV can add the bevels to the bricks, can you import .pov into blender? I dont think that will work, not sure, but you could render with ldd2pov at 4k and downsize with photoshop to get rid of the jagged way ldd2pov does bevels.
  23. Its a lot bigger than I first thought, a minifig would look like doll in there, do you have any plans to build it for real? because its really good. EDIT: Just seen the nice render of the 852 Heli on your flickr, I used to have that when it first came out, all the renders there are excellent.
