For a city theme, I prefer the old, 4 stud wide planes. But, what I like even more about that era, is that an airport wasn't just a small building and a big plane. It was a full-size building, with lots a playability. The baseplates they included to simalute a small airstrip, were also a big bonus. Generaly speaking, the Indiana Jones plane as mentioned above has the most apeal.

Lego 7740 set, upgrading/repairing track options
*thomas* replied to beyondtool's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I have some older 12V sets to, including the 7740. If I were you and you'd use the train for yourself and your son to enjoy, convert it to PF. If you have the cash, put modern wheels on the carriages to, they'll insure a much smoother ride. -
Now I need to do the same thing... LEGO is costing me a lot this year :).

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Set Ideas Thread
*thomas* replied to Tom Jurassic's topic in LEGO Licensed
Very nice ideas :), don't forget to add some structures. The raptor paddock would be very, very nice to see in LEGO -
Just seen the movie yesterday, and there is so much more LEGO could do (or could've done)... The JP1 jeeps are a must IMHO, come on LEGO, please, pretty please, give u a second wave with some JP stuff.

The lenght of the official LEGO trains is a problem - almost - every set has, so it wouldn't be fair to not consider the super chief due to being to short. 1 loc + 3 carriages make a good set.

Like stated above, a Safari theme would be great, as long as the focus isn't on the vehicles. A lodge, souvenir shop, rescue centre would be great. If they would ad an ATV, Jeep and a camper to all of this, they would have a complete line-up. Edit: something like this... I don't understand why Duplo keeps getting al the animal themes.

Santa Fe loc (only new) http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?pg=1&q=10020&sz=10&searchSort=P Carriage http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?q=10022 You'll be able to find them even cheaper if you settle with used sets.

I would also go with the metroliner, at 500$ the emerald night is way overpriced. I've owned one, and it was not worth the money IMHO. The set is just out off scale compared to the other LEGO trains. Other possibilities: BNSF loc with some TTX flat beds. Santa Fe loc with some carriages. Cheers

I agree on this one. It's fun that LEGO tries to reach out to a different public, people who regularly wouldn't buy LEGO. But, I have a strong feeling this causes LEGO to loose focus on some of their main themes.

IMHO this train should've just been the loco, the crane and 3 or 4 hoppers and the digger.
-
After seeing this review, I like the blue crane even more.

LT12V, this train is a great rendition to the original train and a good MOD of James Mathis's design. Well done!

A zoo theme would be fantastic, been waiting for it to happen... And I have a feeling it will never will :(. I still don't understand why they don't give it a go. Playmobil (sorry) has had a zoo/safari team for as long as I can remember, and are now even starting to sell polybags with just some animals or trees and rocks, so it must be paying off...

The new train set is something different, and the ore crain looks great (and will be a lot of fun for kids). But, the price is a bit steep. will buy one when on discount, that's for sure.

Furthermore, buying PF components is not the most expensive thing to do. A lot of people part train sets out - including me sometimes - and a complete PF set (engine, receiver, batt.box and remote) can be found for sale for as little as 40-45 euro. If the maersk engine appeals that much to you, just go for it. I'd rather spend that kind of money an a creator set than on 3677... But that's just me.
-
It seems like to realy like the maersk, so, get the maersk. You'll be sorry if you don't because prices will only go up.

Amazing!!! First LEGO Zoo I see I truely like. The only thing I would change is the number of animals in an exhibit. Seems a bit crowded ;).
