  1. Depends on the price. I've had both and 4563 is much cheaper than 4564. Furthermore, I prefer the cars and accessories from the 4563 set. The 4563 shunter is a bit basic, but fun.
  2. All great ideas, they just have to focus a bit more on buildings. It's always cars, minifigs and dino's... And when they do design a building, it always is a half *** job. Couldn't they also put the time and effort they put into a modular into an other series of buildings?
  3. As mentioned before, I would just start from a 7 wide base (that's what I do).
  4. This looks great! It would also blend in well with a regular town/city lay-out...
  5. I was watching railroad alaska this weekend, and the 60052 would fit right in...
  6. That's what I meant, I don't see this as a good parts pack. That's just an impression, I'll see what the part list will look like...
  7. Very nice looking truck!
  8. This is just so COOL !!!
  9. Looks great, I like the 'overcrowded' look, gives it a realistic feel IMHO.
  10. Have to agree on this one... The hopper is ok, but the 2 flatbeds are dull. They just took an excavator and helicopter and put them on an train base plate.
  11. David, LEGO has had numerous variations on train lenght in the past, in the '80s and early '90s all of the goods trains had short carriages and you could buy a separete set in the train line-up which often included a long carriage. Even 7898 (the first, and last) RC cargo train, had a 2 short - 1 long setup. The 2 long - 1 short setup was first seen on the 7939 and 60052 PF cargo trains, whereas 3677 (red cargo train) had a 2 short - 1 long setup... It's nice to see LEGO use some variation on this, it would be quite boring if they'd always use the same train car lenght and train configuration. Still, the new cargo train - to me - is a waste of money if they price it above 100€ (which they will), not because of train lenght, but because of poor and inspirationless design.
  12. Normal lenght :)
  13. I agree on the colors. Brown, tan, dark tan and green would've been better...

    Airport

totally agree, other creations always look a bit out of proportion. The only thing I don't really understand is that the outside gives the apeal of being an airport in a colder climate, whereas the inside (with the tropical plants) is a bit confusing...
  15. That's why I use metal track. Some off my trains run with a 9V motor (mostly trains that go round at constant speed), the other (shunting etc) run with PF.
  16. Forgot to mention that I run both PF and 9V on my metal track. I chose the metal track because of the looks.
  17. I took the plunge and went with 9V many years after it was out of production. I just bough some 9V train sets and sold the trains without motor and track, did not cost me as much as buying pieces of track. But that's just me :).
  18. Great model, I think it would look even better in 'city' colors... Made you could give it a try?
  19. Thanks for putting this on youtube, very nice!
  20. That LH set indeed looks very nice. And, it can be changed easily into a city or even winter village set.
  21. Maybe a container, like the one from JP1 ;)
  22. This is just great, love all the small details that give a romantic feel to it.
  23. Ah, good memories. I always wanted the airline themed sets as a kid, but only got the space-shuttle transport (truck that is). This just looks amazing, and soooo different from LEGO sets now.
  24. Great rendition of a beautiful train, but I'm not so sure about the white windows... Maybe a 2x3 trans panel would look better.
  25. David, I don't want to be a nag, but you do seem to start a lot of topic these days for which the answer can be fould relatively easy using the search button or having a quick look on brickset.com (every set if listed on that site). Now, about 10027, if I were you, I'd look for a used one. They can be found for approx 150 euro.
