Thanks everybody. Glad you all find it cute I'm planning to make some more, but I don't have any real plans for a particular scene. Maybe I can finally find a way to present my snowspeeder in a Hoth tinorama... If you have any ideas that you need to spit out, I'll welcome them (if you've cleaned them up first of course ) It is what I consider to be a great usage, but not of the Gingerbread head. It are two mirrors from the Friends theme stuck into a binocular piece. I know... our cute little Sarlacc has got some hearts on his face, but you can hardly see that. The problem with the gingerbread man is that the cream is sticking out too much for me, and it hasn't the nice rounded shape. On the right side of the picture, you can find a similar configuration of parts, now using a hair comb piece, from the Friends theme as well (how do I know? Look at the hearts again...) I made this original configuration for a space slug (for an asteroid tinorama), but that didn't turn out really well, so I reused it for this Sarlacc. Still some creative parts usage you've come up with yourself! The ragged edge wasn't part of the original building plan. But too achieve some realistic dunes in the neighbourhood of the pitt, I had to use lots of offsets. When covering everything up to finish the model, I noticed that those offsets couldn't be undone to end up with a straight edge. Since I had to live with a dirty edge anyway, I decided to take it a step further, in the hope of making it look like if it is a piece cut right out of the desert. It's maybe not as good as a nice fine edge, but it works for me. Glad you like the rest of the model though...

What a nice multi-level build! I really like how each level is very different too. Somehow, it adds to the suspension of the scene. The lower section is really good. The splashing water and the moss growing only at the bottom are some really nice touches. I also like the plain functionality of that squarish tube. Maybe some water dripping from the ceiming, or some kind of dark sewer creature would be even nicer... and even more uncomfortable for you Rebel scum... The middle section is very recognizable. But at the same time not very distinct. That isn't a requirement here, but adding security camera's or even a passing transport would make it look better. The top section is the plainest one. That tactics board is very nice, but there isn't much more to see further. I agree with LegoFjotten with adding a door. Or a deflector shield, because they're rather exposed to snipers and espionnage up there. Or a giant carpet with an Imperial ensigna... but now I'm really dreaming. These remarks are only to make this really nice scene even better (or they have the pretention to do so...). But I must say: for a Rebel, you've come pretty far! So far, I don't want to say "keep it up!" ;-)

This is fabulous! Not only have you made an amazing building, but you've made it suitable to the environment of your city. The curch is really nice, with both romanic and gothic influences. You've portrayed that beautifully in bricks. The windows are especially nice, with the droid arms, giant wheels and whatnot. Those are some believable gothic windwos for this scale! The lighting is really the cherry on top. That picture is just beautiful! All the different crosses you've added are a really nice theme of recurring, yet creativily different elements. And finally, erything blends together so perfectly, you barely notice it's LEGO at all. All the layers are really good. My only remarks would be that the timpane seems a little empty (though I don't know how this relates to your example), and generally I'm missing some microfig statues... Finally, I don't think the church stands out well next to that grey building. Since it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the church, I would place a different colored building there. If I'm not mistaking, its a pneumatic T-bar held by a clip, placed above a 1x2 plate with vertical bar. A very creative solution indeed! Very nice creation! This is one of the most believable and beautiful churches I've seen in a town layout!

As I was inspired to build in microscale by toomuchcaffeine's (alas, now former ) Cuusoo project of micro Star Wars scenes (pictures here), it has always been my intention not to not just make vehicles. I wanted to give them a setting, to make a diorama with just a few pieces. Maybe there are more to come, but anyway I present here to you my first micro scene. [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr Yes, I know. It's not a giant diorama that that epic scenes deserves (and has got), but still, I'm quite fond of it. The Sarlacc itself is the starting points. Add together 2 LEGO Friends hand mirrors/beac, 6 wild west horns/tentacles, 1 Technic turntable/teeth and some binoculars, clips and a dozen of SNOT bricks to make it bind, and voilà , there's your micro Sarlacc. Due to all the SNOT involved in this centerpiece, the build turned out quite complicated as a whole. Adding the curves to simulate dunes at an ofset didn't really help, but at least it gave a decent aesthetical effect. If you're more of an expert in the MOCcing cuisine, you can try to prepare the Sail Barge, as that's a quite complex recipe to follow. The distinct snout is hard to replicate in any scale of LEGO. You have to get the slope viewed from the side, and the curve viewed from the top. So you have to choose your ingredients - err... parts - very well. After using all kinds of pieces I had never heard of before (like Indian wigs, bizarre Hero Factory pieces, trays and bowls...) two rather ordinary (no offence) bow pieces (part 64225) seemed to deliver the right taste. Combining these with straight slopes and shields (O, I do love those!) gave what I was aiming for. The problem was keeping it together, and fitting it in with the rest of the dish - err... model. Some dirty tricks (no bricks were harmed, during the making of this model) gave a satisfactory result, though some gaps were left, I admit. [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr To garnish your creation, you can't go without some Desert Skiffs. To be in scale, they had to be really tiny, even for my standards . It was hard to come up with an accurate and - even more important - pretty solution. In the end, I took the advise of "less is more" seriously for once and stayed with one piece, and one piece only. The Rescue can (part 90395) that had proven to be unsuitable for the main course (the Sail Barge) turned out to be just the right part for the job. All you have to do then, is to tell everybody not to notice the gaps, and to present your creation nicely. To evoke the dessert of Tatooine (pun intended), a chaotic and rough edge seems appropriate, especially since you don't want to cover up all those offsets you introduced earlier on... [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr This model is best served rendered with LDD2POV-Ray, and with a long text alongside it. I wish you all a humble bon appetit. Please let me know how it tastes. If you have remarks about the spicing, please do tell me. Then I will fetch you some salt and pepper. (in other words: C&C welcome and appreciated)

[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
BEAVeR replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Haha! Another Star Wars set that has remained undetected... untill today! It was a pretty tough one (though not as hard as the destroyer droid) because of all the angled bits. I have to say this set is pretty good designed. I don't know how I would have even begun building such a model! Let alone in LDD... 4481 - Hailfire Droid - Theme: Star Wars (Episode II) LXF File (LDD 4.3.8) Errors: - 2 x Part x784 not available in LDD. Replaced with similar wheels, but those don't fit in the assembly. - 3 x rubber band are not attached - 4 x part 32201 and 2 x part 32202 are not attached (because not flexible in LDD) - 4 x Part 45274 not available in LDD. Replaced with Technic gear. - 4 x part 41660 not availalbe in LDD. Replaced with Technic gear. - 1 x part 32348 (the black one in the middle at the back of the vehicle) couldn't be placed due to a collision error. Instead, it's now hovering just above where it should be. - 2 x part 78c04 not available in LDD. Replaced with ribbed hoses of length 2 units.- 5,046 replies

Just a thought I had some minutes ago on a matter different from how to score for each episode: how about a total score? Just a plain simple sum of the XP of all the players for each faction would give us more insight how this game is progressing on a more general note. Also, it would make freebuilds more relevant, in comparison to the present situation, in which tags, control of planets etc. are only about the episodes. I don't have any particular awards in mind for the faction that's leading, but at least it would give us something to contribute to, a general sense of where we stand.

Only your second build, and you're already improving notibally. I really like all the greebles here (even more then in your previous build), and it's cool what you've done with those fence pieces. For the sake of consistancy, you might use that technique to create some kind of whole back wall, to really set this scene into the space. A downside with all the greebles, is that the scene seems kind of cluttered. Maybe you could resolve that by moving all non-functional greebles to the outside of the MOC, and keep the important bits like the chair and the tank in the middle, along with some floor covering. Also, I'm glad to see you've used some distinctive colors for those key elements in your scene. You could take that further by makeing the chair and the bacta tank entirely white (except for the screen of the tank of course). Anyway, I'm glad to see you survived, to come back and give us this wonderful build. I'm already excited how you were saved...

Wow. With a very unique style of building, you've created this awesome Big-toe. I really like the mechanical look, and have no idea how you could stick those parts together, seemingly random, but in a very distinct shape. I have no idea how you even begin this kind of build. That's why I think this MOC is even more fantastic. Without using too specified parts, you've made this mechanical wonder. Well done!!!

Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)
BEAVeR replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Will you be updating that blog post? I was fortunate enough to read everything after it had happened, so my disappointment wasn't that big. On the other side, I never experienced the bliss of a victory for the Empire... but we are growing stronger! Just wait untill next round! When will Ep. IV be up? -

Time to further fill the little gaps in the coverage of Star Wars. Now only the Technic sets, and we're pretty much done, I guess. Untill new sets come out, that is. So here is the most recent advent calendar, after two hours of mini fun. There are no instructions available for this set, but I used this image to build the vehicles, combined with Bricklink for color references etc. 75023 - Star Wars Advent Calendar (2013) - Theme: Star Wars (Seasonal) LXF File (LDD 4.3.8) Errors: - Missing prints. Everywhere, similar prints were used - The head of the pilot droid (this part) not available in LDD. Replaced with Martian head (this part) - The jetpack on the sleigh had a collision error with the 1x1 round plate. I've placed it right above it. - The Technic wheel is not actually connected to the blaster in the Geonosian weapon rack, but it does sit at the right spot.- 5,046 replies

MOC architecture: Brooklyn Bridge 1/650 scale
BEAVeR replied to Eichhorn's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great model and great build, so it seems. I really like the textures you've created, and that make this bridge look really good. I guess it would be very hard to do the vertical cables however... Anyway great model. It only needs a micro boat, and you've got an amazing set. -
Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka — Avenger (Imperial Headquarters)
BEAVeR replied to Brickdoctor's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
If only Mr Man's and Dragonfire's computers would have showed some more cooperation, we would've won this round! Those Rebs don't know it, but this victory was only a very close one. Let's see who has bad luck next time... I'm still curious about your entries though. Any chance they might surface as freebuilds again? Well, now we can only build on Nar Eubrikka, Nal Hutta and Nar Shaddaa, Corellia and Tatooine. I'm not familiar with most of those, so next rounds will proove to be rather interesting... -
SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base
BEAVeR replied to Lobot's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Nooo... No cute little Wampa tag!!! But wait ... I... won??? I hope this vast amount of legoticons shows how I feel. It's a pitty we didn't win after all. This is probably one of the saddest threads on EB... But than again, isn't this the closest we've ever been to winning? We're coming closer, and one day, maybe, we might actually win! I never expected to win, especially with so many great entries around (I hope no error snuck into that scoring too?). It's the first time I actually win something, so thank you. Also, this levels the amount of winning builds for both factions, so those Rebels haven't won just yet! Also thank you for all participants, for your inspiring entries that slowly teached my how to build. Also thanks to the judges, for regarding digital and "analog" entries as equal. this is in fact the only contest I remember where a LDD entry beats the real builds... I hope digital entries will still be permitted in the next rounds, or else I can only help my team with a minifig on a plate... Also thanks to Lobot, and every member of the SoNE-team, for making this round a succes. I really liked this one, being a fun and challenging one. Finally, a big thanks for every one who now cares for the Wampa-people. I hope you Rebels never abuse a different species again. don't you even think about - just as an imaginary example - enslaving poor little teddybears, to make them fight and die for you while you're cruising around space... Anyway, the Wampa's are sending their big, warm, furry hugs to all of you. I may not have won a Wampa tag to commemorate this victory, but at least I won one of those "other prizes to be determined": your lasting respect for those lovely Wampa's. -
Using the average of all the scores of a faction only to determine who wins, would not be totally fair. Because the less builders you have, the greater the percentage of people who make it to the second round of judging, thus gaining more points. The faction with the fewest builders will have a higher average, assuming both factions have equal quality of builds. MstrOfPppts' idea of just taking the average could work however, if not a fixed number of builders would make it to the second round of judging, but when the best percentage of each faction would. I'll give the example of episode II, where there were only 5 Imperial entries. The average of the Imps was 13.6, compared to the 10.6 of the Rebs. I don't think this is an adequate representation fo the quality of the builds in that round. I can't show any calculations to clarify what I mean (because it would require new scoring of the builds), but I hope you see what I mean. I only would like to add that this method only takes the quality of the builds into consideration, and not the quantity. Also it is likely that the judges would have more work... So I think the best method would be to keep the system we have today, use the method of determining the average I've described above, and maintain a smaller weight for the number of builds.

I understand you're concern. Maybe you could try something else than plates. I was thinking about tooth or claw pieces or so... Some ideas? Well, how about a cathedral or church, a town gate, a belfry or even a ruin?

Thanks everybody once again! Actually, I made a little overlay of my version over the original vehicle, and it wasn't too far off. The body is a bit too thin (and so are the connecting pylons), but at this scale a small plate is still massive, so it's very hard to tweak your models. Oooo... then I could become rich! But only if all the parts would be available... currently, only the X- and Y-wing are buildable for real. That's the cost of building micro in LDD. Since I need very specific parts, they often aren't available in the colors I use. It's so sad , now I'll never become rich. And then again, would people pay for a pack of 15 parts, while they could bricklink the pieces themselves? It isn't like without instructions, my models are impossible to figure out . Glad you like them though! If you should want to build them for yourself, of course you're free to do so, and I think I have enough pictures to figure out how everything's constructed. Rest assured... more are coming... someday... probably you'll need a great deal of patience. I'm sorry

You've managed to make a fantastic little model even better! You've managed to do at a small scale what TLG couldn't achieve at a large scale. So... congratulations! The new front is fantastic, and it's great to see you revisited some other parts of the model as well. Will this AT-RT be appearing in any diorama's, or have you built it as the vehicle an sich?

I justj can't find the words to describe my admiration for probably the best representation of a Belgian building to date! I really like those grooved bricks at the bottom, and those columns are great too. That fronton is unlike anything I've seen before. All the other details, like the windows, are amazing too. They make this huge creation interesting too look at again and again. You've filled the space in a real impressive manner. Any plans for further Belgian buildings? If you're looking for ideas, I would love to see the train station of Antwerp...

Thanks again for your words of appreciation And I like the first part of that comment as much as I don't like the second part of that comment... I think . You're always so very clear. But thank you, I guess I fear the same, so I think a little piece of flex tube with a slot in it (so it would look like a C from the side) would be the only option. It would be nice if someone could try those connections for real. Thanks. Your suggestion might work, but than again, you would end up with those ridges and that stud visible. Moreover, I think the chance that it would begin rotating or so is great... It's so frustrating I don't have that part! But I don't think any one has a better idea for the nose? (I tried ice lolly pops, but those aren't thick enough in my opinion... me and my standards...

Nice! Considering the tight space, you managed to make a believable and raher impressive castle with lots od detail. The cannon are, though very simple, very nice. I'm not too fond of that flag either, but there aren't a lot of alternatives if you want a wavy effect. I do like the dawbridge and the gate very much, but maybe you could add some droid arms to connect the drawbridge with the bar higher up in the castle. Also, you could use a black lattice part that fits into that window piece, if you want a really secure castle (though that alligator is already a very good protection!) Keep those great mini modulars coming! Was this a thing of one time, or are you planning to make more historically themed ones?

This is a really nice little walker, one of the best I've seen. Your choice to work with SNOT instead of hinges paid of, I think. The very long flat front isn't super accurate however. Maybe playing some more with some slopes can give you more the snout look here. Also, it would be nice if you would include that little piston between the body and the upper leg, maybe with a minifig lever. Lastly, if you want to be really really accurate, you'll need three toes, but I don't see how you can achieve that... Yeah, although it's the fifthiest AT-RT, you've managed to make it nice and new. Congrats!

This is both a very nice MOC, and a good idea for a playset. It has a lot of very nice details, the railings are good, the paddles are very nice and that bow is very well constructed. All of the interior detail, that piston in the back (a steoke of genious!) and even the rounded tiles at the vottom to slide it around make this a very good set. I have no doubt this could be used in many different settings, both historical and touristical. My only suggestion would be to place the engine room closer to the paddles (or am I missing somehing here?). Also, how do these boars actually navigate, because I don't see any rudders. But ain, I'm not a boat expert. I sure hopes this gets a lot of support! You've done a great job at making a model hat is appealing to both aduls as children.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I'm glad you appreciate these tiny collections of parts. I'm not quite sure, because I don't have the claw piece to experiment with. I do have some ideas. You think the flipper isn't thick enough to fit into a claw. That's true, I suppose, but this particular piece has an even narrower slot within the claw, so that might fit. If it doesn't, I imagine cutting a tiny part of flex tubing, and inserting it between the claw and the flipper. I think that would resolve the problem. Request granted! This picture was made solely for your viewing enjoyment If you think that aren't a lot of micro models, you're right. But I have a few more ready and some in my head. The reason I don't publish the ones I've finished, is because I like to present them to you in pairs, as I've done previously. Otherwise, I feel really guilty for starting a topic about 15 pieces. Now I can give you 30 pieces at once. Still not much, but better. The ones I've finished already are a snow speeder and a Slave I (with only 4 parts!!!), so know I want to make a decent AT-AT, MF, Bespin twin pod cloud car, TIE Fighter (although some kind of new piece has to arrive before I attempt to do one again)... Furthermore, I have a micro diorama coming up, so I'll keep expanding my collection!

Welcome to the Empire, and not a bad build at all to begin with! The story is really nice, although it's pretty dark. The build itself is rather nice as well, with the excellent texture of the ground. That really delicers the sand feeling to me! The scraps of junk are nice, but seem a bit too random. Instead of only loose parts, try making some little assemblies to give us a sense where all this stuff is coming from. If you would want to take this even further, you could think of an irregular base or some more (different colored?) rock work (you're near a anyon after all). Please survive this, trooper. I think we'll really need you!
