  1. How do we know it's actually official?
  2. Wow... They cut the droid number in half? What a waste. At least the old one had racks for them.
  3. Unlocks 'construction pants' (whatever that is) and Angry Kitty. Or maybe it's Rage Kitty.
  4. So... The original mention of the Everything Is Awesome edition seemed to indicate that it might be a Wal-Mart exclusive, then Amazon added it to their listings... ...and then removed the pricing for it, and the ability to pre-order it. Is it back to being a Wal-Mart exclusive? (I'd hate to actually have to step foot into one of those stores.)
  5. Is his surname spelled out on the scripts or something? Because the credits don't list any surname. Since the EU isn't canon any more...
  6. Wow... Can't believe I've been on EB for over a year! If SW Fan Tags are being issued, I'd like one too, please.
  7. I think they were very, very crafty by making so many permutations of Unikitty. Original - Cloud Cuckoo Palace $20 Biznis - President Business' Evil Lair $70 Queasy - Metalbeard's Sea Cow $250 Astro - Benny's Spaceship, spaceship SPACESHIP! $100 Angry - Emmett's Construction Mech $60 Seriously, $500 to get 'em all is marketing genius.
  8. Japan has both vehicular elevators in multi-level garages and even odder, vertically oriented garages where you put your car in, and it goes up and down on a conveyor belt type arrangement. Very small footprint, and from what I saw, typically held about 20 cars in about 4 stories up and one down. Google "Japanese vertical parking system" for several different types. :) ...and no, I never trusted my car in one of those crazy things when I lived there.
  9. Now that the new AT-AT has been on the street a little while, has anyone seen a comparison between it and the older versions?
  10. Nice review, thanks. Now what I'm hoping to see is a comprehensive comparison between this and the previous AT-AT models. Somebody needs to get on that. A couple minutes looking around, I think the best approach would to buy all 4, and combine them into one properly scaled walker, motorized, proportional, and actually seats three in the command module. ;)
  11. Wow. I don't know what CS you played with as a kid, but this guy right here feels like it's a fantastic reimagining of a CS ship, with well incorporated modern elements and techniques. Are there any things that I'd like to mod? Of course there are, but it doesn't make me hate the overall package. Mods I'd like to try: Adding a 1x8 plate under each 'flap', over the yellow technic beams so the opening isn't quite so large under there. Adding plates to the bottom, particularly in the back half. The alternating light and dark grey is weird, and I'd like to close the bottoms of the technic frames. Incorporate landing gear. Although a front gear is pretty much not possible beyond a single inverted round plate, I think I could do something with those black technic frames for rear gear. Add four 4x4 plate to the movable portion of the wings, or maybe a plate/tile combination attached to the fuselage under the movable portion. This would be to reduce or eliminate the amount of daylight when the wings are out. But since all of this issues with the bottom side of the model, none of it really detracts from the overall appearance, IMO.
  12. Wow. That comparison really sells me on the new over the old. All the angles seem far more accurate on the new one, except of course the missing area between the top and bottom.
  13. Maybe if you collect all the pictures into the first post in this thread?
  14. Speaking of which. I was thinking about the value of the set... This is a really great example of how price-per-piece really is an unreliable metric. With a US price if $100 but 'only' 940 pieces, it is over the magic 0.10 PPP number, but the reality is that there are very few 1-stud parts in the set, and lots of very large parts such as airplane fuselage pieces, large technic frames, large angled plates and etc. The completed model is over 60 studs long, with a 50-stud wingspan!
  15. I'm early 80's, too, but I'm going to throw a wrench into the conversation: I like a mixture of stup-up and stud-down flowers, especially when there's more than one or two triplets in a small area.
  16. Actually no. Two separate conversations. On Tuesday, I only knew that I got the only one that they had, and that there weren't any more on the way. Yesterday, the additional information was that she cannot even order them if she wants to. Many LEGO shipments to stores are just whatever the company sends them, other shipments are specific orders the store makes for items that they feel are selling better than the regular allotment. Another nugget from yesterday's discussion was that she was directed to ship the last few of her Super Star Destroyers BACK to TLG because it will only be sold online via S@H from this point. It may not be officially retired yet, but that's certainly not going to be much longer.
  17. OK, who are the two bozos that said this is a poor set in the poll?
  18. Still can't believe this didn't get front paged. I mean this is way better than a couple that have been on there recently. Special Theme MODs be slackin' on the job. ;)
  19. ^I was just coming here to post that my local LEGO store manager was told that she cannot order any more of this set. Since she has none on hand, I lucked out the other day when I bought an unopened one that somebody had returned.
  20. Local LEGO store got a big shipment of GE in this week. Either it's not going anywhere, or TLG is clearing stock.
  21. Just finished. OMG, it's HUGE! ...and so awesome. But I'd gladly trade the Octan spaceship for at least one more Master Builder to help occupy all the seating positions. (There's 8 counting Unikitty's R2-D2/Astromech perch.)
  22. Dead picture/link is dead. Try this instead: http://www.hothbricks.com/2014/05/mos-eisley-cantina-les-modifications-lecteurs/
  23. I'm sure that you could easily send power to the front treads for propulsion, and separately power the steering in the back. The question is how unobtrusively those could be incorporated, while losing as little playability of the interior as possible.
  24. I was at the store for Benny's ssS! , and although really not interested in this set, the wife wanted Unikitty. What weird little build! So many parts in such unusual colors. Has anyone actually counted how many of them have never been made before in these colors? The other big surprise was getting 21 extra parts in a set with an official part count of only 197!
  25. ...and I thought doing the cheese slopes on Tower Bridge was bad. That's got to be at least 1000 of them!
