The courier must deliver his message! This was kind of a revolutionary build for me because I started at the bottom and built upwards!...well, mostly

What movies can we recreate with licenced figures?
robuko replied to robuko's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yes, Kiera Knightley. Good call. Actually, I had forgotten Liam Neeson - that gives us: Schindler's List with Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Kingsley -
So, what films can we recreate in Lego using existing licenced mini figure actors and actresses to play the leads? For example: V for Vendetta with Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Fry Lost in translation with Scarlett Johansson and the forthcoming Bill Murray Sweeney Todd with Helena Bonham-Carter and Johnny Depp Transformers 1 with Shia LeBeouf and the forthcoming Megan Fox What else can you think of?

The concept is pretty twisted, and the build is absolutely outstanding!

Jessie from Toy Story, Aunt May, Lois Lane, Crooler(? I think ?), Rapunzel, duplo fairy godmother, Dora the explorer, doctors and zookeepers. Belville was full of them, as was Scala. Fabuland also featured several eg Catherine Cat, Lucy Lamb, but these were more collaborative oriented themes where everyone was a leader in some regard. I said notionally because for quite a lot of the story she is over ruled by Ben Kingsley, but she is nominal head of state and comes into her own at the end. Wyldstyle is a leader but she reports to Vitruvius.
-
I know these many of themes do not really have factions as such but these are all female leaders: Cinderella, Snow White, quite a lot in Belville I believe - e.g. Madam Frost, Snow Queen, Queen Rose, The Queen Beast (Hero Factory), Cleopatra CMF, Marsha Queen of the mermaids, the blonde PoTC mermaid (?), Elizabeth Swann King of the Pirates, Princess Tamina (notionally), Red Harrington, arguably Sally from Cars and Hermione Granger, Poison Ivy (in Batman & Robin), Marge Simpson et c.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
robuko replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
It's a very nice picture. But anything you build there could crumble into the sea without notice! Near Gorr would be good, or somewhere on the eastern seas where the mountains meet the ocean. -
Very effective build Mike! Quite simple, but immediately recognizable as a Kaliphlin ship. I really like the torso piece on the turbaned sailor, and love the water!

Usually erosion of soft cliffs by the sea. But the historic coastline may be far from current coasts. -
+1 All claims and I would give +2 for that wonderwall if I could! What is holding the vertical blue bricks in place? You wait for months for a plate and tile wall, and then 2 come on the same day! Great build, very good story, and really nice photography Gilbert, what a way to start! You seem to have enough tan bricks to emigrate to Kaliphlin, you know....

The new scorpion figures are superb, but I don't like the sets they come with... Masa looks awesome in that armour and helmet. -
HSS: Aden's Gate, Harbormaster and the Minik Akrebi
robuko replied to Mike S's topic in Guilds of Historica
Love the water, it looks very realistic. And I really like that scorpion head use. Gold is so good for Kaliphlin. Very atmospheric build. -
Plate walls rock! I have been thinking about plates for texture, this is superb use. I think the towers look better than the walls, the wall holes are a bit too symmetrical. And sweet npu for technic plated elephant! This is a great build

Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate
robuko replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
Well, the GNAR boat is done and the Gate is smashed into bricks. Time for some town buildings! I am restricting myself to 3 colours for the next one, and probably using around 15 parts. It's basically a huge mess of jumper plates and some arches and tiles. Quite excited by this one. Hope Avalonia doesn't descend into chaos too quickly.- 63 replies

The Extraordinary League of Minifigs
robuko replied to Hammerstein NWC's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Oh that's great. Did you actually use a Sean Connery head? Kudos. Apparently making the film was so painful that it caused him to retire. Inspired choice for Skinner, and Nemo is brilliant. Dorian is spot-on too. Not so sure about the Bellatrix head for Mina, but she does have her vampire moments. Mr Hyde, very clever! -
Bonjour and iechyd da (if I remember the spelling! Welcome to Eurobricks. Please explore the forums and see what themes you enjoy.

It's a really good story and I like the caricature style build, it really does look like a mediaeval painting, especially the side view. The stern could benefit from some embellishment in my opinion, or maybe just some tiles, it is a little bit blocky. Looking forward to see how this develops!

Oh wow I have somehow missed everything since July! Each chapter is a gem, I particularly enjoyed Snow White tidying with the animals, and the horcrux cave. Pure brilliance. I love your stories and building style. Magic carpets are always a winner!

Very nice build. I love the way you capture motion through the sail patterns and shapes.

May I suggest it might be helpful to mention there basically 3 types of build contest? 1 overarching story line challenges are: civil war in all the guilds in turn which give you a couple of months to build. 2 "mini challenges" set as a contest within your guild in between the civil war challenges, with lower stakes (?) And typically shorter deadlines, such as the Sultan's Gate community build. 3 ongoing skills development challenges like the ages of Mitgardia, Albion community build, which are basically open ended and which are measured by your own progress rather than in competition with other builders. Participation in any of these is entirely optional and up to you. Some people do all of them, some do one only, some do one and skip a few and then do another. I think this might be useful to understand what is involved. Ska, please feel free to modify or delete what I have written.
