  1. Welcome to Eurobricks, Cookie! I'm glad you've rediscovered LEGO, and I hope you have a good time sharing your experiences and MOCs on the forum!
  2. This is a good start. I really like the tables! I hope you can make just as good a building as to put them in.
  3. Wow! The curved glass walls are so smooth, and the pillars that seem to hold the building up look nice as well. The 4x4 circular brick on top looks like an easy way out compared to everything else. Is there a better solution to get that shape right?
  4. I agree - the fenders with the new slope looks lovely. It's so clean to look at, and the old-time tires are great, too.
  5. Ah, I understand about anti-glare paint now. But it looks much better with the larger expanse of black on the bonnet, rather than just slapped on top.
  6. Wow, this is big! The road-construction people and the news stand are the best bits - the rest of it looks plain (but it's a square, so that's OK). On the other hand, the shape of the fountain looks busy. Should you consider a circular fountain or something?
  7. Yes, this looks nice! I'd like to see more. That's because members have a limited space on Eurobricks servers - use an image host like Brickshelf or Flickr instead, where you have far more room for pictures.
  8. This looks nice, like it would fit well into a rural or suburban modular town, but I agree with tkatt about the prominence of the garage.
  9. Thanks for the review, woofmcmoose! This set looks really cool - I really liked the Arctic series in 2000 but this is certainly bigger and better.
  10. I think this is a fantastic idea: Addressing LEGO minifigure gender imbalances? Check. Promoting different disciplines of science to children? Check. Playable for the children? Check. It's clearly not meant to blow you out of the water like BTTF or Ghostbusters - it's just simple and benign. The fact it that this simple idea made it to review means that 10,000 or more people believe that it's a fantastic idea. What kinds of cool features would you have put in it?
  11. I realize that this topic is old, but I haven't seen the MOC before, so: the treatment of the inside corner is a topic lots of people talk about, and you solved it very well - I like the moon gate feel. Also, the alley in the back with the patio and tables is very good. The interior is nice, but the facade is very appealing to look at, all around!
  12. Welcome, LEGOGEL! You've got a great setup for taking photos, so just start making models and we'd love to see them. Have a fun time here!
  13. Thank you for showing us! I like the vignettes and they (TLG) really kept faithful to the original proposal. The set's great for having female minifigures in situations that are not stereotyped for women. The figures themselves are cool, especially the chemist!
  14. In the topic you posted of the entire town, this building really stood out to me because of the colourful roof. I can't explain what I like about this, but it's just very nice.
  15. Very nice - the interior is great but I like the subtle old-timey feel of the facade all around.
  16. That wasn't the problem - the names of the colours were things like "medium grey" and such - definitely not the "stone grey" of the modern day, but I just opened LDD and the colour choices are back to normal! I wonder how that happened... Thanks anyway!
  17. Very nice! The black bonnet is distracting (would bley work instead?) but you've done a great job fitting a sleeper cab into such a small space.
  18. Fallingwater is an iconic building because of its shape. Its location in the woods around Pittsburgh makes it prettier, but there are plenty of buildings in the woods that aren't masterpieces of 20th-Century architecture. I feel that the modded version has too many colours going around - most of the Architecture sets have one or two main colours in their palettes. If I were in charge of modding the set, I would only include dark red window frames on the central staircase and lt. bley stonework around those windows. The rest of the colours (including dark red under the cantilevers and the bley on the roofs) in the landscape add noise and distract from the central feature of the set: the shape of the building.
  19. Great build. The coloured hull and the gold railings are just wonderful. Good luck completing it!
  20. I think he made it up? The facade is lovely, but it looks a bit dark. That's not a huge problem, though, really. The interior is great - I like the chest of drawers with hats on top, as well as the mannequins. The dance studio upstairs is a novel idea for a modular building - good idea, too.
  21. I've seen it before in a different context, but the texture you get by stacking crates is fantastic and works well for the walls of a building. Everything else is nice, too, but the street lamps seem a bit out of proportion.
  22. I like Flickr - it provides links to your image in several sizes, and resizing images to an appropriate size is a large part of posting photos on Eurobricks. Flickr has the built-in communication platform, too, which is nice. I have a brickshelf account, but I just use it as a place to keep images that I just need to post once and don't feel the need to have discussion about.
  23. This looks like a pretty nice set, but it seems overpriced. The small ship looks very small and the alternate face for the Sakaaran looks, honestly, half-baked (I've tried to find what it's supposed to look like to no avail). The larger spaceship looks really cool (and surprisingly large) but I can't shake the Chima-goes-to-space feel it gives me. Thanks for the review!
  24. Hi! I think this is the right (or at least best) topic for my question. I opened LDD for the first time in some months last week and, to my surprise, it updated! I've been trying to work on some models today (in regular mode) and my usual method is to select bricks by colour. When I opened the palette, I found only these options: All the conventional colours (light bley, for example) are not in this menu. Do you know where I can find them?
  25. Very nice! The anti-studs around the base of the dome are cool, as are the trans-blue tiles set inside the arches for those lovely windows.
