  6. I've attached a pared-down .lxf that contains one module each of the floor, the ground floor and the roof. If you want to build this MOC, have at it. PS: I made this. Please don't make money off it / sell instructions / etc. but feel free to inspect the model and build it. BW2.lxf
  7. This is an iconic building that is faithfully reproduced and instantly recognizable in LEGO form. Thanks also for showing us the model without the blue panels - are the little clips attached to pieces of flex tube?
  8. Vote Tally Monty Thornton (mostlytechnic): 1 (Bob) Trevor Knowles (TrumpetKing): 1 (JimBee) Malcolm Cooper (Mencot): 1(Speedy) 38 hours remain in the day!
  9. Interlude Some of the crew sat down for lunch. No-one was really hungry, though, given this morning's sordid events in the freezer. Meanwhile, in the control room, Commander Neumann stared blankly at his Captain's Log. "Say, Thaddeus, I wish Lloyd hadn't got himself offed by some KGB scummo. I have no clue what to do with this thing. I have a table of the submarine's depths from the past 12 hours and I need to find our average depth. There's got to be an easy way to do this." Lieutenant Commander Mortimore took a look at the Log. "I think I know what our average depth is, but I'll let the crew have a go as well. I'll show them the data." Mortimore continued, "The 3 people who, in the next 36 hours, give me an average depth closest to my answer might get a little prize. Get to it, then." Voting is now open.
  10. Thank you for the kind words, everyone! It's not really my 'style' to build things in real life, but I will be building something as soon as the parts come. Keep an eye out! This is what the building looks like next to Cafe Corner: You're right that it doesn't tower over like an apartment building perhaps should, but I prefer a smaller kind of low-key style for modular buildings (sort of what like alex54 used to build) so you can fit lots of different styles and functions of buildings into the same or a smaller space. They're actually SNOTed tiles - like most of the things on this building!
  11. It looks better with the huge canoe taking up wall space (but perhaps it might look nicer if it were on the middle of the wall?) On the other hand, the stickers you've put on the outside as a sign are clearly of very low resolution - are there any higher-res pictures you could use instead?
  12. Each floor has a door for a lift because I find stairs finicky and a pointless waste of space in LEGO builds. The rest of the floor is split into a studio-sized area and a 1-bedroom-apartment-sized area. You could stack these units as high as you liked, really. I chose 4.
  13. This is an apartment block that students live in. I walk by it frequently and had a rush of inspiration to create a model of it. See more pictures at Flickr. Thanks for looking!
  14. Note: Please don't post in the game thread if you are not playing. The Confirmation and Discussion thread is here.
  15. Players only, please! Jacob Neumann walked through the mess at breakfast the next day, oblivious to the conversation around him. "This is the 80s; why are there two women on our submarine?" asked one voice. "I think it's so we all have distinct hairstyles," proposed another in reply. In the next room, the galley, Commander Neumann found a horrible sight: someone out cold, dead with his head in the freezer. It was the USS Portland's yeoman, Lloyd Stanton (Lego Spy). "Who will help me with my paperwork?" Neumann asked ruefully to himself. He abandoned Stanton's body and rushed back to his own cabin. Neumann's paperwork had gone from bad to worse. Someone had ransacked his cabin, evidently looking for something. But Neumann found something in the pile and called for a meeting in the control room. Thaddeus Mortimore, Lieutenant Commander, stood by to support Neumann and the crew. "I hate to inform you all of this," began Commander Neumann, "but I have found the dead body of Lloyd Stanton (Lego Spy) in the galley. He was a Plot Device. In addition, someone went through all my papers. But I have found a scrap of paper with reference to a KGB colonel on board this submarine." "I have decided to lock down the USS Portland. It is now your task to weed out the Soviet Spies from the Loyal Sailors. Good luck." "Say, Thaddeus, do you know what happened to Dom Fiore and Gary Messina? They're on the crew manifest but aren't present." "I think they stayed behind when we left Rio, Jacob," replied the Lieutenant Commander. The NPCs: Jacob Neumann (jamesn) - Commander Thaddeus Mortimore (Tamamono) - Lieutenant Commander The Players: Monty Thornton (mostlytechnic) - Cook Philip Dabney (PirateDave84) - Crewman Jeremy Hollis (jluckhaupt) - Crewman Adrienne Walton (adventurer1) - Doctor Christopher Milton Poindexter (CallMePie) - Fire Control Officer Trevor Knowles (TrumpetKing) - Nuclear Engineer Patrick Nash (Peanuts) - Nuclear Engineer Spencer Delgado (Speedy) - Quartermaster Malcolm Cooper (Mencot) - Radio Technician Edward Grey (Endgame) - Sonar Technician Claire Novak (Calanon) - Steward Boris Benson (Bob) - Torpedoman Jerry Bergeron (JimBee) - Torpedoman The Dead: Lloyd Stanton (Lego Spy) - Plot Device The Rules: 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned either with the Loyal Sailors (Town) or the Soviet Spies (Scum). To win the game, the Loyal Sailors must kill off all of the Soviet Spies, while the Spies need to outnumber the Sailors. Third-Party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format: Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format: Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached. After the day has concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night stage. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those who died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the following day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game hosts. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread; you must always play the role given to you. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the hosts via PM. 11. Violation of the above rules will result in a vote penalty of half the required majority against you on your first offence, and the death of your character on your second offence. Violation of Rule 7 will have a heavier penalty, made at the discretion of the Games Moderator.
  16. In the absence of replacements, Dom Fiore and Gary Messina are no longer in the game. Day One will be up shortly.
  17. Yeah, LT, how many hardware stores do you have to build ? It looks great - the textured black bricks make the facade look as though it's made of iron, and I'm a sucker for expansive windows. I agree with Zblj that the interior could do with more (and taller) racks of goods.
  18. Hi! We're looking for replacement players for Dom Fiore and Gary Messina. If you want to join the game, please ask (as long as you have passed a Mafia School game)! I will give the replacments / confirmation process 36 hours and then Day One will go up anyway, even if that means a modkill or two.
  19. As an update on the status of the game / confirmation thread: in 12 hours I will start advertising for 2 replacement players.
  20. I've used Safari with the online LEGO shop, but I haven't had problems with it (I do navigate to it through lego.com, though).
  21. "Philip Dabney, Gary Messina and Dom Fiore still seem to be in their bunks."
  22. Thanks for the great news! I've never had any of these pieces but I'd love to because of the cubic standard unit - would be very helpful when designing my own buildings.
  23. I've been on and off about this set. My main concern has been that the bendy pieces are silver whereas the rest of the tower is bley - but your photographs show that the colour difference doesn't stand out. On the other hand, the tower's (for lack of a better word) ankles are a bit bulky.
  24. Would a mod please kindly lock this thread? Thanks.
  25. All are welcome to comment in this thread; players, please confirm your roles and we can begin the game proper shortly! "Good morning, everybody. Since we are on a submarine in the middle of the ocean, I shall sing a song to set the mood." "Come gather 'round, people, wherever you roam / And admit that the waters around you have grown / And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone..."
