I'm sorry to have left this hanging for so long, but it looks like we won't have very many more players. So I'm going to call an end to sign-ups and figure out a way to shrink my set-up by 6 players. Give me a couple of days to sort everything out and I'll send out everyone's role PMs. Please respond in here or shoot me a PM if you have signed up but now find yourself unable to play. Thanks everyone!

I concur that the foliage seems too organized, but I also dig the terracotta roof technique which I haven't seen before.

Pyrovisionary and DackJaniels: thank you for your interest in my game, but since neither of you has passed a Mafia School game, you may not participate in this game. Everyone else: sign-ups are still open if you want to join!

I am glad we have some more sign-ups! The game is designed for 21 players - so we really need 8 more. But we can get away with only having 6 more players, so when that number is reached, I'll get the game proper started.

The late Carl Arendt kept up a Small Layout Scrapbook at his website for traditional model railways (typically O and H0/HO) - you could consult the (many) featured layouts for some inspiration.

I love the frail, skeletal aesthetic this has, especially with the base/landing pad. Good luck in the contest!

This looks lovely - nice build! The colours of the locomotive and the carriage don't go together very well, but I like to see narrow-gauge trains anyway. I have a soft spot for them.

I agree with the sentiment about purchasing Creator sets - but I disagree about LDD. As a student, I am away from my "main" collection of bricks most of the year. LDD is perfect as a replacement for physical bricks and allows you to create a bill of materials that you can assemble from PaB or Bricklink. One word of warning about LDD, though: before you start to build something, have a plan. If you know what you want to design and know what scale you're going to build it in (draw some sketches if that helps, and dimension them in studs or plates or whatever's convenient), then everything falls into place when you actually get to building. If you try to use LDD as a sandbox, you will find yourself bewildered and overwhelmed - it is in this respect that building with physical bricks is helpful and useful. Oh, and welcome to Eurobricks, opn2, by the way!

Very nice! Everyone else seems to think it looks like a scaled-down Versailles, but the first thing I thought of was the Louvre. The textures on the walls - with tiles regularly set at different depths into the wall - may be overdoing it, though.

Eh, to me a UCS model is "primarily for display" - so the contentious Naboo N-1 fighter counts, and so does the 10179 Millennium Falcon - though it is to minifig scale, it is a behemoth and for showing off / display. Is 76023 The Tumbler *officially* UCS? TBB and Eurobricks's front page both use the UCS term but in the designer video there's no mention of the UCS title. I think from colloquial use of the UCS title, I think we can say we know what it means.

Looks great! The landspeeder looks perfect when adapted to the classic-space style. The texture of the masonry brick is a nifty touch there, too. The texture on the silver tubing is a nice detail all over the MOC as well. Well done!

Flickr has all of the social capabilities that you don't need when you're posting photos for set reviews. If I were you, I'd keep those photos private (but they could clutter up your own stream) or use Brickshelf. No-one has to know that your Brickshelf page even exists. Popularity isn't the goal of my presence on flickr, but views add up over time and people go through your old photos and fave things long afterwards. It just takes one interesting photo for me to want to browse someone's entire stream.

Question regarding online PaB: when a part is described as "not available" what does that mean for its future availability / how soon might it be back again?

Yeah, these are pretty nice update of the 10020 using modern parts. Could you do something about the paint job, where it gets really pointy as on the original set? From what I can see on the internet, that's really supposed to be semicircular. See: Also, the same picture above doesn't indicate any overhang of the roof over the windscreen. Is there another solution you could try to make the model more like the prototype? -
City Layout - Inspired by Los Angeles, California

Great city. The subtle curve of the trans-blue bricks on the gas company tower is lovely to look at. I also like the Starbucks that has a cool classic-town sort of feel. Keep building! -
IJ have stopped making new material for the most part, haven't they? The theme only came out in conjunction with the 4th film. It's not like Star Wars where, like it or not, there are TV series and video games released left right and centre. I would like to see a reboot of Johnny Thunder, since there's something nice about having a cool archaeologist without the constraints of existing material (*cough* Indiana Jones) - they got to take the sets wherever they wanted - and that creative freedom for the designers is cool. I'll throw my chips at Classic Space, Forestment, Black Falcons and Blacktron, too, but I feel most strongly about Johnny Thunder. And there's the 2000-era Arctic town subtheme, but that's sort of been rebooted this year.

Great build - this looks like every LEGO store I go to. I agree that the PaB wall is a great solution for this scale.

Which store is better for PaB? Schaumburg or Water Tower Place? Both are equally time-consuming to get to for me.

Beep! Beep! Jacob Neumann awakes on board his submarine, the USS Portland. He passes some of his crew in the mess on his way upstairs. And meets his Lieutenant Commander, Thaddeus Mortimore, on the conning tower. A brand new day has begun. The Rules: 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned either with the Loyal Sailors (Town) or the Soviet Spies (Scum). To win the game, the Loyal Sailors must kill off all of the Soviet Spies, while the Spies need to outnumber the Sailors. Third-Party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined in their roles. 2. Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format: Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format: Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to lynch a player. 3. A game day will last a maximum of 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end when a majority vote has been reached. After the day has concluded, a night stage will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night stage. 4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those who died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the following day. 5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game hosts. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6. Do not play the game outside the thread. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread; you must always play the role given to you. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 7. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players. Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on. 8. You may not edit your posts. 9. You must post in every day thread. 10. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the hosts via PM. 11. Violation of the above rules will result in a vote penalty of half the required majority against you on your first offence, and the death of your character on your second offence. Violation of Rule 7 will have a heavier penalty, made at the discretion of the Games Moderator. We are looking for 21 players who have either passed mafia school or been around since before mafia school to play. Please answer the following questions to sign up: 1. What is your experience playing mafia games on Eurobricks? 2. Will you be able to post frequently and keep up with night action deadlines for the 6-8 weeks? 3. What is your favorite submarine-themed movie?

Looks lovely! The facade looks nice, and I like the costumes in the window.

Aww, it's got a turtle! It looks really cool in the video - congratulations to everyone involved in the project.

It's true there are stereotypically masculine and feminine Things To Do, but science is not one of those things. People look for and can feel alienated when they don't find representations of groups with which they identify in the media. "The Media" includes toys such as LEGO - and this set contains 3 female characters engaging in activities that are not stereotypically feminine. It's an issue of diverse role models for small children - in the same way the Friends sets have karate studios and classrooms in addition to horse-riding and pool parties.
