Excellent builds!

Comic book characters as cartoon characters that have been televised in the last couple years? Let's see...Black Lightning, Black Panther, Black Manta, Black Canar..oh wait. Whoops. There's Aqualad from Young Justice. Bishop of The X-Men appears in Days of Future Past this summer. I'd gladly throw my $$$ at Lego for any of these characters. However, unless Lego makes a D2C set of The Hall of Justice, the only way I'm gonna add Lightning and Manta is going the custom route. Black Panther was hinted at being in The Avengers sequel, but being another melee character, it sounds doubtful.

This looks like an awesome Springtime project. I thank you for providing the LDD file! I was looking for a building to add to the town, and this is definitely a winner!

Cool! Good use of SNOT on the wings and fuselage. Very streamlined.

I agree! This set looks wonderful! The Overlord, Zane, and Nya will be great additions to the collection, too.

Future The LEGO Movie Sets - Wishlist
Colossus replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in Special LEGO Themes
And call it, "Benny and The Jets"! ...or something like that. -
I think this set is a cool idea. From what I've read here, AFOLs are likely to get this set and use it either for parts or for MOCs. They may also see it as a couple of barebones buildings great for customization. Lego probably kept this set's price below $100 for that reason. An experienced builder sees a price tag over that, and the first thought is as someone mentioned previously, "For $50 more, I could get a modular." Now, for someone just getting into Lego, this is their gateway drug, as eurotrash posted earlier. The set isn't terribly pricey. It doesn't require a huge financial commitment compared to modulars, but has that basic feel. It can also be a transitional set for a younger builder; say, a kid who enjoyed the Friends sets, but is growing out of that phase and wants a set that has a more mature style. This set "also makes a great gift!" A parent or friend buying this set as a gift might not be intimidated by the price, and the set is generic enough for the buyer to feel safe giving it to someone without knowing that person's preferences. I think this set will appeal to a wide spectrum of customers, and I'm one of them.

When I emerged from my Dark Ages, I lurked on eBay and found used sets and the occasional lot of bricks for auction on the cheap, relatively speaking. Depending on what you're building, there's also the Pick a Brick self service that's offered at The Lego Stores.

I'd love to start collecting this theme, but I'm not sure it's in the budget. With sets from The Lego Movie, Ninjago, Marvel Superheroes, finances will be tight. However, since there's no new Batman, er...DC Superhero sets, maybe there's some wiggle room.

Blow 75 bucks on Lego stuff on Shop@Home or at The Lego Store in March and receive a free DC Superheroes Martian Manhunter Minifig. It's a really nicely done Minifig! But, like I need an excuse to spend $75 at The Store.

Thanks for the idea! I noticed the diiference in playability when my children had the Winter Village Cottage out along with The Pet Shop/Townhome modulars. My kids love the Modulars, but that back wall can be a frustrating obstacle. Looks like I found a weekend project, once I finish The Sea Cow, that is.

12, 000+ bricks, 4.5 months of work. This looks like a real labor of love that definitely paid off. The staircase, the facade, the dome; everything you created is outstanding. This is a beautiful set. Thanks for sharing!

"Stupid" sounds kinda harsh. It seems The Overlord is capable of transferring his essence into whomever or whatever he pleases, whichever gives him more of an advantage. So, perhaps he uses Cyrus as a vessel since Cyrus' new cyborg attributes have more potential than a mortal body. Thanks for posting the pic, Penkid. Zane is my favourite, and seeing that he receives yet another uniform is good news! JayWalker, thanks for the link to the Brick Show video. I like the set's detail and minifigs, so this may be the first Ninjago environment set I'll buy.

The Death Star had about 20, and the 2013 Ewok Village set has 15, I think. -

That sub looks amazing! Lots of detail for a small size, and still fits a Minifig.- 23 replies

Future The LEGO Movie Sets - Wishlist
Colossus replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Wild West saloon would make a great set! After seeing Benny's spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!, I would love to see Classic Space sets revisited. I have some of the Galaxy Squad sets for my son, but they're not the same. -
Very well done! I may have to implement this type of vertical display to solve some of my Lego storage problems while also driving my wife bat$#!+ crazy with all the minifigs til she agrees that I need a little space of my own in the house (which I guess would also solve some of my storage problems). Win/win for me!

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
Colossus replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My local Target and Walmart have practically the same shelf warmers: Star Wars, Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, and Chima. TLM sets are gone, as are TLM CMF's. The only one place I can rely on being the most stocked is The Lego store, but even that has been out of The Ice Cream Truck and Lord Business' Lair. TLM sets move off shelves very quickly. I have also noticed that a lot of the City sets are vanishing off shelves lately. I wonder if the appeal of the movie has people snatching up City sets to create their own "Brickville".- 2,626 replies

News The LEGO Movie: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow
Colossus replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I agree! I think I may actually like Minibeard more than Metalbeard. At first, Metalbeard wasn't much of a priority til I actually paid attention to all the detailing. Then I just had to get him! Then I bought The Sea Cow yesterday, and did a little build with the first 2 groups of bags in the set. Seeing how well the designers scaled down Metalbeard, yet kept all the major design points on Minibeard, just blew me away.- 158 replies

LEGO Minifigures series 12 will not be available until Oct 2014
Colossus replied to JeagerEX's topic in Special LEGO Themes
$4 for a CMF is just being greedy unless the one CMF's accessory is another entire CMF, that is. -
News The LEGO Movie: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow
Colossus replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
There a 17 bags organized in groups 1-9. There is an additional unlabeled bag for some of the larger Technic parts, and the usual bag containing instructions and labels. Looks like minifigs are scattered among groups 1 and 2. Can't go into much further detail, busy scraping my brain off the wall after seeing how many teeny, tiny bricks make this set. I haven't felt this giddy anticipating a build like this in a long time, so here goes!- 158 replies
