  1. My local Target had a few sets of Zane's Ninjacopter on the shelf. So my 4 yo son and I take it to the register and the manager won't let us purchase the set. Evidently, the set is not supposed to be available til 12/01/13. So my son starts crying and the guy still won't let us buy it, even though it was on the shelf and priced. I called him a Scrooge and left the store, leaving the set and the rest of the items I didn't purchase at the register.
  2. I am also thinking of obtaining an Emerald Night set. It would be my family's first LEGO train set, and it has to be about the sleekest design I have seen. So, options are eBay or Bricklink. First, I am hoping someone could tell me WHY Bricklinking this set is so expensive. If it's the emerald green pieces being rare, I am more inclined to use dark red pieces anyway. My wife's favourite sports team's colors are scarlet and grey, and that would help the wife deal with the LEGO sticker shock. However, if the problem is that the bricks are rare, I foresee more of a dilemna. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Incredible! To me, this is what LEGO is all about. Using LEGO as such an expressive media. There's amazing detail, ingenious building techniques, and a ton of humor! Some of my favourites have to be Spider Man's room, Deadpool dealing with the Death Star trooper by decapitation, Iron fist peeping on the ladies in Tony Stark's pool. Definitely one of the coolest things I have ever seen in Minifigure scale.
  4. My daughter's favourite Disney flick is Tangled, and the first question she had about the set was, "Where's Rapunzel's hair?!?" I must concur. MY question was, "What? No flick fire missiles?" Those verdammt things somehow make their way into every LEGO set!
  5. Exactly! Two of my son's favourite characters in a set aimed just for his age group!
  6. The vehicles can be cool if they don't oversaturate the set count. My kids actually get more play out of the modular type sets, like the Haunted House and Winter Village sets. I'm pretty excited to see the Junior sets for my 4 yo. He loves Venom. BTW, are these initial Junior sets like a trial run to see how well these sets will sell for this age demographic? I think my son will like the Junior sets more than the Duplo that he has bc Junior sets are compatible with my stuff and his older sister's sets. Based on his reaction, I'd like to see more of this type of set in the future, even with other themes besides Super Heroes.
  7. I have it on good authority that Batman only works in black... ...and sometimes very, very dark grey.
  8. Since playing the LEGO Marvel SH game, I'm even more excited about the potential to see some more Avenger figures, and ANY X-Men Minifigs. But, it seems LEGO is awfully reluctant to sell a Minifig that doesn't have "-man" in its name. Iron Man, Superman, Spider-Man, and Batman have so oversaturated the Super Heroes line, it's to the point where I'm gonna score customs off the 'net instead of waiting for the possibility of the character getting around to making even other mainstream characters. Besides, I'm pretty sure that X-Men's Storm wearing a Mohawk hairdo or Cyclops with his visor as an accessory, not a print, are gonna see the light of day.
  9. No Nightcrawler? Wow. 170+ characters and no Nightcrawler. He teleports, he is a skilled swordsman, and he is a wall crawler; one of the powers featured in the game. And he has a prehensile tail. Prehensile! Tail! Yet somehow Howard the Duck makes it. (sob)
  10. The constant onslaught of vehicles in both the Marvel and DC lines is getting old. One of the things I've seen consistently with my kids is that no matter what theme, whether Ninjago, Monster Fighters, Star Wars, Super Heroes, whatever; they get tired of playing with vehicles after 10 minutes. Now, give them The Haunted Mansion, Bat cave, Death Star, Helm's Deep, and they play for hours. When they get bored with the set, they redecorate or add features like chains to swing from or slides. After going to the arcade the other day my daughter built an air hockey table for the Death Star, and it works. From a price point perspective, play sets are more expensive, and I understand why the smaller sets are vehicles. I just wish there was some way to get smaller play sets that could be assembled into one larger play set like they did with Hogwart's. Smaller price point and more play sets.
  11. Bring me the purple pajama hat, elf boots, man purse wearing version of The Green Goblin! Sometimes a man in a green mask wreaking havok is better than a genetically altered musclebound freak with homicidal tendencies. Less is more, I say.
  12. LEGO should be putting out little sets like this! Instead of buying another Batman set with another Bat mobile in order to buy The Flash Minifigure, release something small like this with The Flash and Reverse Flash, for example. It would get around that whole minifigures-sold-as-action- figures concept.
  13. The set is spectacular, and the photography showcases it perfectly. I love it!
  14. Larry Lars assembled an excellent Delorean Time Machine, but has he offered any instructions or exploded views of his Delorean? He has for some of his other creations, but I'm coming up empty with my search. Anyone have any ideas?
  15. Hmm...set 76011 contains sharks and a black underwater vehicle. I really hope it's Black Manta and any other character from the DCU besides Batman.
  16. In think it's a capital idea for LEGO to make small sets consisting of a Minifigure or two and an environment specific to that Minifigure. It would be a relatively cheap and effective way to expand on Gotham, Bludhaven, Metropolis, Coast City, whatever. I'm bored with LEGO's Batman and random Bat-vehicle sets. My son has more Batman Minifigures than Clone Troopers, and that's saying something. He gets bored with vehicles. Swooshing the Batplane or Batboat only goes so far, but he loves his playsets, like the USM lab set and Joker Fun house. He plays with them all day. When he gets bored, we swap out another set, like the Helicarrier and Daily Bugle. He's too young to make MOC's, but he can follow instructions to assemble some of the smaller sets. That's why I like the idea of the small environment/Minifigure.sets
  17. Wow! Great lineup. I love concepts for the builds and especially how the Minifigs relate to each. Having the original team with the Mansion; Storm, Colossus, and Nightcrawler vs. a Sentinel. Excellent ideas. The only characters I would like to see besides these are Shadowcat and The Brood. I mean, the small alien embryos from the recent Galaxy Squad sets look quite a bit like Brood except their scale is a little small.
  18. After seeing the recent trailer for the Marvel Super Heroes videogame, I would love to see the BigFigs like COLOSSUS, Juggernaut, Hulkbuster Iron Man, etc. Maybe throw in a Hero Factory-type Sentinel for The X-Men to battle. Here's a thought: maybe release a 2-or 3-pack of superhero Minifigs along with a comic book that ties the figures together. Bonus points for the comic being "redrawn" in LEGO-style.
  19. This and The Haunted House are 2 of my family's favourite sets! My kids and I play with these pretty frequently, and with Fall and Halloween coming up soon, these sets are only going to see more use. I have actually been toying with the idea of building a 1950's era flying saucer just to expand upon the Universal Monsters-type feel of the MF sets. Something reminiscent of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" or more recently, "Mars Attacks!"
  20. This is a wonderful idea! Maybe 3-packs like the Mattel Justice League figures? While my children love the Super Hero sets, I am more inclined to collect Minifigs, since I prefer MOC builds.
  21. 2 Arkhams, 2 Batcaves, and a fleet of Bat-vehicles. I would love to see a DC set without Batman.
  22. So many fantastic details, I don't know where to start! If I had to pick just one, it's probably Superman leaving a divot as he's skidding across the street. It's small, but very cool.
  23. Hello! I am a longtime lurker, first time poster. My name is Colossus, and I have a LEGO problem. I played w/ these things growing up; stopped Lego-ing around 12 yrs. old. Now, I have children of my own. They were interested in the old Galaxy Patrol sets I have from my younger days. But they weren't happy w/ just those sets. Now, they have their fancy Ninjago, Star Wars, and now FRIENDS. Why, back in my day, minifigures were yellow and we LIKED it. I ask you, how can I not be hooked? Superhero sets? They're my thing. And it's not just DC or just MARVEL. It's BOTH!! That I can have my Deadpool minifig trashtalking Superman minifig is like a fanboy's dream come true! While I am into LEGO Superheroes til either I dies or the line does, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Star Wars. This UCS Millennium Falcon is my grail set. But I'm not gonna fork over $3000 for it. I have studied this thread, and have started bricklinking pieces to create one of these beauties. I figure that w/ the techniques I can learn from building this behemoth, I can build myself a proper X-Jet and Danger Room for my X-Men Minifigs. Do members of this forum have a topic thread where custom minifigs can be listed? I would like to view what others have bashed, and display my own as well. After all, sometimes I find it almost as fun customizing my own minifigs as I do playing w/ them w/ my kids! And anything I can learn from these forums to enhance my childrens' and my building experience is greatly appreciated. Sorry for being so tangential. It's past everyone's bedtime at this Christmas sleep-over, and none of the kiddies want to crash. So, we are on our 3rd viewing of The Princess Bride. Oooofa. Anyhoo, this thread is a great source of info and an inspiration for me to continue on my quest for the UCS Falcon, and I want to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread.
