  1. Yup. I got the issue polybagged in my stash. I should have clarified: Don't give DC and Lego another reason for another Super Hero set that is really just another Batman set. I am rather desperate for DC and Lego to take a little risk and release a DC Hero set that has nothing whatsoever to do with Batman. The DC Universe is bursting at the seams with incredible characters with fantastic costume designs. I am probably wrong, but I get the impression that Lego is being somewhat complacent when designing these minifigs, when they could be using this opportunity to totally blow us away with their product. Superman with no red boots? The Flash with plain old red legs and half a helmet? I would love to see Lego go all out and print minifigs that give the impression, "You like our Martian Manhunter? Well, hold onto yer butts because you ain't seen nothin' yet." But, at the end of the day, it's really just a kids toy.
  2. The wife and kids are fast asleep. Down the basement stairs I creep. I open the box and stifle a "WOW!" I have all damn night to build the Sea Cow!
  3. Shhhhhh...don't give DC any ideas.
  4. Whoops! My apologies. Say, even though this set is from The Lego Movie, does Lego have to pay Warner Bros. for licensing? If the studio had a hand in developing the models, I would imagine they would like their slice of the pie when it comes to $$$ made on sets based on the movie. The Sea Cow price per piece ratio is actually $0.09 per piece using correct math (again, my apologies). I guess I'm trying to rationalize spending $250 on a Lego pirate ship. Even when I bought POTC's The Queen Anne's Revenge, I got it for $80 at my local Walmart when they were clearing the shelves. On the other hand, I love steam punk design. This is cartooney steam punk, but The Sea Cow is visually appealing to me because of it being so wonky.
  5. The Sea Cow is magnificent, with such intricate detail! It looks like a real pain to build : ) , and I loves me some painfully detailed builds! I can't get over the detailing in the captain's quarters alone. The price is a bit of a turn-off though. I was thinking that The Simpson's House is priced at $200, and it's a licensed set. The price:piece is about $0.08. Looking at The Sea Cow, it's about $0.09. So, it looks like The Sea Cow is a bargain, relatively speaking. I don't care for the micro managers, and I'd gladly trade off those for a lower price. But, it is what it is. Me and the kids are gonna make our monthly pilgrimage to the Lego Store and see this set up close up before I commit to it. Ah, who am I kidding? This is gonna make one helluva birthday present! Happy b-day to me!
  6. Awesome space femninjas! My favourite is definitely "the Vulcan".
  7. Marvel.com just posted an HD pic of The Lego GotG set, The Milano. Looks the same as the box art that was already revealed minus the background. I was kinda hoping to see something new... (sob).
  8. I love modulars! I have the Pet Shop and Palace Cinema sets, and I really enjoy sitting with my kids and playing with them. After seeing The Lego Movie, my daughter's first question (besides, "Can we see.it again?") was when we could get Emmet's apartment modular set. I was planning on making The Parisian Restaurant my next purchase, but I may just have to grab Town Hall while it's available.
  9. Thanks for the link! I have recently received a response from the man himself regarding his book, and I am very grateful! I've been putting in a lot of hours at work lately, and I plan on checking this out in detail later once the kids go to bed.
  10. Oh, good! Couldn't see that from the pic on my phone. Thanks, Sam I really like the detail of the printing on Doc Ock's back! That's a cool touch.
  11. Geez, Lego couldn't splurge on a $60 set by giving MODORK a brick built chair and a trans clear.2x2 round brick for hover effect? Time to head to the parts bin.
  12. Exactly! The only things I find salvageable from the Spidey sets are the minifigs. Electro looks incredible! Not as Electro, of course, but it would make an AWESOME Iceman!
  13. Buttkissing aside, I am very grateful for the mod opening up these topics in their own thread. Originally, I felt pretty certain that separating Marvel/DC was the only way to go. After reading all the other posts here, I realize where this could be a bad idea. Separating threads won't allow for overlapping of ideas, observations, and opinions without technically going off-topic. And that could be just the first of many problems that result from a split. Honestly, I'm eager to see.where this discussion goes.
  14. Emmet's apartment building has the facade of the modular Town Hall, correct? I was planning on skipping that modular since I didn't care for any of the interior. But, I just may have to allocate more resources towards getting one before the set is retired.
  15. That sounds pretty good. It could be interesting if Groot was the size of Kai's Mech from the last round of Ninjago figures. That thing is rather poseable.
  16. Since Groot is most likely brick-built, would I be correct in thinking that he contains several custom parts? The only brick-built, tree-based humanoid that I've seen is Tree beard, and I can't recall whether his form translated well in Lego.
  17. It's contagious! Split these threads before it spreads! The great Abraham Lincoln once said: "A house divided...would be better than this!"
  18. During the first chase scene where Bad Cop is after Emmet and Wyldstyle, there's a twin rotor police helicopter giving chase. Is that a design based on an actual set, or some new vehicle designed for the movie? If it's derived from an earlier set, does anyone know which? If it's not, then I would definitely go for that helicopter as a set down the road!
  19. Very intense design and detailing! I love the bold use of all those slopes and wedges! The look of your Tumbler strikes me as more sleek and less tank-like compared to the real thing. Very cool. But my favourite has gotta be the New 52-inspired Bat mobile. That thing is razor sharp, man.
  20. Where IS the place to discuss having separate Superhero threads? Seriously. I'm not trying to sound like a jackass ( my wife says that's impossible) but I think it would help cut out a lot of bickering about "My comic book publisher, Superhero Lego set, Dad, etc. is better than yours!" Also, Builders that have zero interest in Marvel sets wouldn't have to wade through 5 pages of how awesome Marvel is just to find that new, leaked photo of the 19th Batmobile to grace the shelves in 3 years. See what I did there? I vote for a thread where we can openly discuss dividing the current Superheroes thread into separate Marvel and DC threads.
  21. I agree. Isn't this the main theme streaked throughout the entire LEGO Movie? Well, that and don't glue together all yer bricks. ...and, that perhaps Batman is a Douchebag.
  22. No kidding! Happy anniversary to the thread. Regardless, those are cute minifigs, and the cars are incredibly designed! The box art is about the slickest I've ever seen.
  23. I very much wanted to purchase this set, but it looks to me like a glorified facade. The detail in the set is AMAZING! However, I wish that it had at least another wall so it would have more of a semblance of an actual building. I agree that buying 2 sets would probably be plenty to make it look like a full set, but I can't afford $300 to achieve that look.
  24. Whether or not the photographer could post the pic, or maybe cropped the photo so that the Marvel sets weren't seen, it's a shame that we couldn't see more of the Marvel sets. Nice teaser, though.
