  1. That's a spectacular feat of LEGO building! That plaza at the entrance is so intricately detailed, it's stunning. Thanks for sharing pics!
  2. Wasn't there some kinda Batboat in the Aquaman/Mr. Freeze set not too long ago?
  3. I would like a trans-clear 1×1 cheese tile with a stud on top. That way I could pose minifigs in a leaping or kicking pose.
  4. I came out of my dark years a couple years ago, but I've collected some LEGO sets along the way that have caught my eye. I have a hodgepodge of bricks like you for MOC's, and I also employ this method for what I'm building. I make what I want with what I have, then replace with proper parts acquired through Bricklink. I'm not yet comfortable with LDD, and it's more frustrating to me than anything else. Plus, I enjoy using my own two hands when making something.
  5. This set sounds great! I can't tell much from that snippet, but it will be good to have a smaller modular to break up the uniformity of all the other modulars side by side. Also, my daughter has a few Friends sets, but always gravitates towards my modulars anyway. Sounds like we both win with this set!
  6. Yes. Brickforge has Minifig Mohawks in a few different colors, including white. I have one for my Storm. The only thing is, I have the double-sided Storm head from Eclipse Grafix, and these Mohawks don't cover the back of the head very well. Regardless, it is still a really cool accessory.
  7. Excellent idea for the hair piece! It looks to be the same size as the flat top. Come to think of it, I wonder whether using a dremel to lightly buff off the flat top texture would be a viable option. A spritz of black spray and clear coat would do the trick to finish it. BTW, where to members usually post pics of their customs on this site anyway? I have some ideas I would like to share with others, and if I can help just one person make that step towards making the Minifig of their dreams, then there we go.
  8. This is exactly the way I feel about customs! At the rate LEGO releases Superhero characters, I'll be collecting Social Security (provided the Gov. doesn't run it into the ground by then), and that kind of fixed income is really gonna put a crimp in my LEGO budget. Besides, I could be waiting 2-3 years for a lackluster design. I had really high hopes for the upcoming X-Men set, but after everything I've read from the London Toy fair reports, it seems like a really poorly executed set. Anymore, with the 3D printing, customs look just as good, if not better, than the official thing. Most customs have printing on the front and back torso, arms, and legs. Heck, some customizers are printing designs on the hands now. And yes, they're pricey, but I'm paying at least $20 now for a Superhero set that consists of a vehicle I don't really want, and at least one rehashed or re-released Minifig of which I already have 2-3 copies. I know this isn't entirely the fault of LEGO, but it is what it is. Luckily, LEGO is really outdoing themselves with their other products, like LEGO Creator modulars. It may be like comparing apples to oranges, since modulars are more for AFOL's, but it's frustrating to see what LEGO is capable of creating and then realizing the wasted potential of a line like Superheroes.
  9. It looks like vac-metal red, the same paint they used for the recent red LEGO VIP Minifig keychain.
  10. Woohooo! I'm hot today! This will be my first Chima set, and probably last, unless they release a Chima Minifig with a tail piece that I can use for my Nightcrawler. BTW, does Pick a Brick online offer those little "ice cream/puff of smoke" pieces? I have an idea to make a bamf effect for Nightcrawler, but I don't know how available the pieces are.
  11. The entire report is very interesting. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised by the lame X-Men set. However, the new train and train station additions to CITY, and the new polar theme sets sound intriguing. While I haven't been the least bit interested in Chima sets, I can't wait to see this Phoenix Tribe build. With a little tweaking, I hope it resembles X-Men's Phoenix's...um...Phoenix Effect.
  12. Yes. We need more Batmobiles. The half dozen already produced have yet to slake my thirst for more Bat-vehicles.
  13. Word. I took the family to see it a couple weeks ago, and this flick was very entertaining! I could see myself buying an Ice Castle set for my daughter and also one for myself to use pieces for a Fortress or Solitude for Superman.
  14. Phenomenal builds! My son loves these things. Now I gotta figure out their designs to make a set for him. Thanks for sharing pics!
  15. All the LEGO Movie sets went on the shelves without the TRU Tax. I'm not sure whether that was just an introductory price, though.
  16. That's great! Love to see it once complete
  17. Based on the lackluster X-Men sets so far, I'd say the ONLY way you would get a set packed with that much X-Goodness would be to make it yourself. With so many Minifig customizers and MOC'ers making such great product lately, I don't have the patience to wait for LEGO to make better Marvel sets.
  18. Yep! Fang was the Guardsman who lost his suit to Wolverine in Uncanny X-Men #109 I think. He wore it for only 2 issues. Artists on comic book changed, and so did Wolverine's costume, back to yellow and blue. In UXM #139, Wolverine went back to the brown and tan outfit til Jim Lee switched him back to the yellow and blue in X-Men #1 in 1991. So Wolverine had that tan and brown costume for 11 years. Back on topic, I am ecstatic that LEGO is going with the tan and brown suit AND the cowl. The white eyes are the icing on the cake! It looks like 3 of the Minifigs have been revealed. I hope we see the rest sometime very soon! Are new LEGO sets revealed at the upcoming Toy Fairs? If so, I'm hoping that a Bigfig Colossus holds one of the spots in that set! For now, I have to suffer through mingling my Colossus minimate with my minifigs.
  19. Yes. Yes I do. Granted, the brick built face looks kinda creepy, but the fact that it doesn't feature flick fire missiles is bonus #1. Honestly, whoever thought of flick fires should have to face a firing squad of flick fires
  20. Waaaaaaay back in 1980, Wolverine's brown/tan costume made its debut in Uncanny X-Men #139. When Nightcrawler asked Wolverine why he changed his duds, Wolvie's response was, "Why not?" True story. Of course, this was long before the ultimate loner in the Marvel Universe suddenly joined every superhero team in existence, maybe even being an honorary member of the JLA. As a result, Wolverine has even more costume variations than The Wasp. As far as that LEGO stick figure they're trying to pass off as a Sentinel, I'm saddened that they put so little effort into it. Looks like something a builder outsourced to his 10 year old kid to whip up. If I recall, some MOC'er named Baron Sat designed a brick-built Sentinel and Galactus that are much more substantial than the LEGO design. In regards to the X-Jet, they could (hopefully) pull off a pretty decent design with a small piece count provided they use long bricks, big plates, and leave out the greeble.
  21. Leaked pic of 2014 SDCC Exclusive Invisible Girl: She's a beauty!
  22. These guys all make great minifigs, but they can be rather expensive. I've bought from everyone of these sellers except Christo. While his minifigs look expertly crafted, they tend to sell for too much on eBay. His Flash Minifig is very well done! Too bad the official LEGO Flash Minifig looks very incomplete in comparison.
  23. I hope so too...that's true...that would be a travesty(!)...I believe the children are our future!
