  1. Very nice build, Henjin, the bridge is fantastic, and the trees, base, and story are excellent as well! I agree with Maestro that the trans-neon-green does look a bit odd in the river - but then, this is Nocturnus! Good job with the rock-work also, although I think in a few places it looks a little odd - in particular, I would raise the long curving slope (the one with a bunch of studs under it) by the lower tree by a 2x4 plate on the thick end, and put some tiles under the other side (though a few studs wouldn't look bad - it just clashes a little with the rest with so many), and the 1/8th of a ball piece on top also gives the impression of a man-made dome instead of a natural rock-formation, though the other two fit in pretty well Excellent job overall, though, and the photography is definitely a lot better!
  2. Very nice build, Kwatchi, and great to see you building again! The boardwalks, salt marshes (great use of that blue color!), and house are excellent, and the lantern and dog are great additions as well! ...And it's always good to see more smugglers around - there haven't been all that many in the Brick Seas yet, but they fit perfectly! - great story!
  3. Very nice build, Legofin, I really like how you've consistently used the same type of irregular base and black border to show that the three phases go together, and your banners are awesome as well! While the wall may be a little over-textured (though not so much, really, that I would have noticed it if Henjin hadn't remarked on it, ), the rock out-cropping is excellent, and the stall and the cat's pose are great as well! Keep it up!
  4. Excellent build and lovely micro-scale, FullPlate, and your photography is superb as usual! The standing crops, hedges, and paths are beautiful, and the houses and dock are excellent as well! The depth captured in the border/edge is a great detail as well, and I really like the lime section as well, especially in the last picture! About the trees (the round non-flower ones), I am a bit divided - I think from some angles (e.g., the 5th, and the last, pictures), they look superb, but from others they seem a little too much like balls stuck on trunks The round flower-stem ones look great, however, and help break up the others a little - but while I don't particularly dislike them, I can't say I'm the greatest fan of the stalk ones... I think that trying to capture a more organic feel like you do with your other trees would add some more good diversity here, but then I can definitely see how building branches and posing leaves would be quite complicated at this level! Overall, though, gorgeous depiction of Avalonia's country side!
  5. Neat build, Bregir, I, too, particularly like the night ship scene! Your cutaway of the ship is excellent, the tumblehome and decks are very well done, and I'm glad to see that you even went the length of rigging it as well! The other scene, however, I think could use a little bit of work - just now the white, black, and grey studs just look a bit too odd (I suppose they are meant to be shells?), and I would say that a bit of some varied terrain elevation would help a lot (check out any of Puvel's beaches to see a great example of what I mean!) - but I do like Montoya's pose down there with his hat, cloak, and rapier on the sand! Generally speaking, I use a ton of slopes when doing rock-work, and here yours could certainly be improved by at very least a few dark gray cheese slopes, and I would probably keep the rocks mostly or entirely dark gray (in this case, I mean - sometimes dark and light grey can work very well together!) My last critique would be that in the first picture I was incredibly confused about the house, and it wasn't until I saw the roof in the second picture of it that I got that they were on the outside ( ), so I might add a torch in a bracket, or an open door, or something else to indicate that more clearly at the beginning. Really good entry overall though! - both the story and the other half of the build were superb, and I'm looking forward to the next part of your (plural, ) story-line!
  6. Thank you, fellows! I assume all of these were on trade runs (except those specified as being part of the Pirate Purge), correct?
  7. Could all members with ships not in the lists from the last MRCA please post the necessary information in this thread (before the 20th)? Thank you
  8. News has been lost about many ships, as strong winds and currents in the Brick Seas have been driving many out of their planned courses, and a break in at the King's Port Advertiser by some dastardly pirates has caused additional confusion! In short, all those who ships are not in the following list, Please post in this thread the name of your missing ship/s and what class and type each is/was, whether or not they were part of a convoy, and if so, what the name of that convoy was, and which type of run they went on. We will attempt to calculate (to one degree or another) all those ships which are submitted before the end of Monday, Sept. 20th. Later ships may possibly be added, but please try to get the information posted or sent before then if at all possible. Please follow the following pattern in your posts if possible: The Charging Stallion (5HA) - Escort Run - Dragon Teeth Convoy If you would rather not divulge some of that information to the general public, please PM me and/or DannyLongLegs with said information. Anyhow, we're trying to get the MRCA back up and running, and hopefully the excitement and activity of all the raiding, looting, battling, and trading will soon be back in the Brethren of the Brick Seas!
  9. Excellent phase II build, Legofin, I agree with Henjin about the iron cross supports and the wood and stone work, and your banner and border are quite neat as well! Keep it up!
  10. Thanks Titus, and excellent idea and initiative (both you and Elostirion)! I'm glad to see that Eslandolans are still loyal to their country and are working for its strength and glory! About the build itself (which, sorry, I probably should have commented on first of all! ), I really like your border, and the podium and flag look quite nice as well - good job! Yes, I doubt anyone has to worry about war too much at least until we have some idea about how to fight one!
  11. I am sorry to have to inform you, but any changes made in the Royal Eslandolan Navy are the prerogative of only the King and council, and as neither the ETWC nor the MCTC have heard anything of this treaty beforehand (except for the offer made by you and Elostirion - whom, by the way, I at least hope that you consulted before taking the liberty of posting his offer for him - and which, as made by private individuals of Eslandola, did not require the consent of any of the trade companies), those trade companies can in no way be said to have agreed to anything herein stated - except, of course, with their loyalty to the crown and Eslandola, which have been attested to long before, and which this treaty may not be held to establish in any way not already held to previously. In short, before doing anything of this sort, you really must seek an actual agreement between the parties supposed to be bound by it, and must consult the leadership and crown. Please amend the treaty to reflect only what you have previously agreed with said parties. Thank you. As for whatever was previously posted there and removed, we (the rest of Eslandola, and the leadership) neither know nor can be bound by whatever it happened to assert.
  12. Great conclusion, Exetrius, the smashed rock looks superb, and the stands and tower are quite nice as well! The swords on the roof are my favorite detail there (as I have already commented on the stands and flags previously), and my one critique, really, would be that the rest of the tower's roof is possibly a bit over-greebled/textured - I think trying to get a cleaner solution would make that look a bit better. Overall, great job, though, and thanks for finally giving us that overview picture!
  13. Kai did make it sound rather bad though... and forgot to mention that she made me sort the entire thing and put it away for her just so I could use a few of the pieces to finish up my current build! Speaking of which, I should probably get back to that now as it has been refusing to be finished for a long time already...
  14. Going back and reading it again, it really does read like someone talking awfully quickly, Excellent looking build as well, Ecc, looking forward to seeing it finished! Thanks for the defense, MassEditor! It certainly did not technically require any change or commas, but a little rewording might have made it easier to read... though everyone seemed to get it anyways, I didn't mean to start a whole long discussion on grammar and punctuation with it though, ha, ha! On another note, though, I am actually rather known for writing tremendously long sentences (that is, from 60 to 100 words or so, ) in essays and research papers and the like, but they are generally replete with commas, clauses, and em dashes! You've piqued my curiosity by saying you write for a living now though! - what do you write?
  15. Another excellent build and lovely tree, Full Plate, and intriguing story and great tutorial as well! While I'm afraid I'll never have nearly enough axes or droid arms to build one, it was very nice to see how you build them, and makes the amount of work and calculation that goes into them even more impressive! Although the thinness of the build does look a little odd, overall the vegetation and irregular border are very well executed, and your photography is beautiful too. Congrats on the new addition to your family!
  16. Very nice entry Captain B, our micro-ships are excellent, and the forced perspective island in the background is a great addition! Very nice use of those teeth pieces on the back of the ships, and the pirate ship names are quite funny as well! (I'm wondering how they fit the second one on the stern of the ship! )
  17. Hilarious once again, Captain B, and why is it that when I saw the major's beard, the first thing I thought was that he was probably a pirate in disguise? The dock is nicely cobbled, and the crowd of figs and freight are great as well! Good job with the houses too, though I think there may be a color or two too many there - but my favorite part is certainly that lovely little rowboat with the monkey in it! ...and Major Woward Holowitz's name!
  18. Hilarious story (and moral), Captain B, and excellent build! The stained glass windows look superb, and the shields, flag, and maps on the walls are great as well! Very funny dialog at the end too!
  19. Very nice ship, Tomsche, almost certainly your best yet! The shapes are quite good, and you have the sails catching the wind excellently - not to mention the very impressive armament! While there are a lot of colors, I think overall they work together quite well, and the crew looks great as well! My suggestions would mostly be about the photography and pictures - they could stand being posted a good deal larger (as it's difficult to make much out of them right now without opening them in another tab), and you really need to get a larger photo setup! You've certainly been improving, though, so keep it up!
  20. Wow! Fitting three all-LEGO scenes in a 32x32 space is impressive enough, but you've added to that the quality you have here and an excellent story! The first scene is actually probably my favorite - the furniture is excellent, and the colors are spot on as well! The tavern is very good too, but I think a little more detail on the back wall would help a lot - maybe a shelf of bottles behind the barkeeper? - as the yellow is a little over-powering as it is! Great job with the posing and vegetation on the third as well!
  21. Very nice and very unique ship, Phred, my favorite parts are the hut (especially the roof), the nets on the outriggers, and the sails - great job bringing something different than usual into BoBS!
  22. Ah, I thought they might be the same length as the others already, and as they are, I would agree with you that making them any longer would definitely look odd! Shortening the base (or maybe just making the entire book bigger so as to cover it all, if you'd prefer that) would probably be a better idea! And yes, I was referring to the exterior clap-board, not the wood, which itself looks perfectly fine and time-appropriate.
  23. Beautiful desert landscaping and fortress, Blufiji, the colors are spot on (that reddish brown in the arches and the two-toned tan of the castle are superb in particular), and the domes and swampy marshes are wonderful as well! The reds and blues of the High Council soldiers and banners add just the little bit of color it needs, and your sand and base are excellent. Great job, and congrats of the well-deserved tag! (When I saw that as I opened the topic, I was actually wondering if it was new or had been there for a long time, until the comments elucidated it )! Can't wait to see your build in Mitgardia!
  24. Excellent minichallenge, MassEditor, I'll see if I can't get something in before the deadline! By the way, you don't seem to currently have a rule by which all entries would need to be posted in this thread (which would probably simplify the judging process - unless you meant to leave it out on purpose), and also - when you said the deadline was 11:59 PM on October 1st, did you mean in the entrant's timezone? Not that I already plan on entering at the very last minute anyways ( ), but it would be good to specify about that ahead of time (both of those are also the same in the second minichallenge). I was actually thinking exactly the same thing when I read it
  25. Lovely combination of all your Weelond builds, Capt. Wolf, they really fit together superbly, and the dock stands out very well too! The water looks surprisingly good as well with those scattered trans-light-blue studs, and the activities of Weelond life are captured perfectly too Great job!
