Well, indeed a bit late, but after a loooooong day: entertainment - check! I like the dinamism, the music, and the build up of the presentation. Pro work.

42082 - Rough Terrain Crane
agrof replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think it is not a big deal compromise - if they implemented the 3 mode steering with 4 wheel drive, like here: (In this case I say, the size can be justified.)- 1,224 replies

Those are for leveling the crane on rough terrain (slope, etc), not part of the suspension in the classic meaning.- 1,224 replies

42082 - Rough Terrain Crane
agrof replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
These type of machines usually don't have any suspension other than balloon tires. Don't forget, they are not meant for bashing on rough terrain, but to be able drive (crawl) through with 4 wheel drive.- 1,224 replies

42082 - Rough Terrain Crane
agrof replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have mixed feelings about what I see. I am happy about the rough terrain crane as product. I am puzzled, as it looks like unnecessarily big for what it does, seems like biggest=best is the new calling everywhere... Compared to 42009, this MOC model lacks of elegance and finesse to me. Usually I fill up official models with extra parts, here I would just remove. F.e.: fenders, which are black, so pinholes are the least visible, are covered with connectors for no good reason (btw, here is an answer if TLG copies MOCs ). I am very interested for the insides, and for the B model though.- 1,224 replies

Drift Demon

Indeed, great fun machine, I like the minimalist bodywork too! -
That is an important and fun part at finalization, not only due to saving on weight, but also to find more simple connections for those, which were overlooked (or over engineered) during the design. I really appreciate this attitude, Sir!

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
agrof replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have also high expectations about an upcoming review @Jim My questions would be: - What lead to the final color scheme choice (constrains, branding, eye-catching, personal preference)? - What found Bugatti engineers the most impressing / appealing in the work of LEGO engineers, what could they learn from them? - How many engineering hours went into the final model (inclusive creating BI)? - What test programs had the LEGO model achieve till finalization? - Does LEGO consider an off-road supercar in the future? EDIT - new last question, reflecting Jim's answer below: - Do they prefer butter over margarine? -
Maybe it was obvious, maybe it is just my stupidity, but I just realized that we can vote for more entries, not only the most appealing one. I am happy, because I just could support all my favorites.
-
@Ron1 I follow the contest website, and honestly I really miss the moderation of the entries. It looks like many who entered didn't understand the rules, and many voters neither... May I suggesst to bring the first 10 to the jury, which actually fulfill the rules? I would feel sorry for many MOCers who put noticable effort and made real entries - still, obviously many "interesting" are ahead of them in the current ranking.
-
Thanks for the extra render @Didumos69, it looks actually still scale to me. Great journey we had in this topic.

Agree, the climber pictures are dope. May I ask for a picture with Unimog tires too (for reference)?

It flows perfectly, love how the body tilts while cornering, and how well the independent suspension moves! I am also happy about the engine choice, the look is much more sexy without the spare tyre. I demand You to take wallpaper quality photos now.

[MOC] Audi Rally Car
agrof replied to T Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Welcome here! This looks very-very adorable and smooth - meanwhile the RC motor suggests some serious performance. I hope for video presentation too! The shape is A+, no questions - people will beg for instructions. EDIT: I suggest to make better pics at daylight outside, so You will get chance for wider publicity, witch seems to be deserved.- 32 replies

I also like this solution, and I understood that @oracid shows here an alternative track suspension - not a replica of actual solutions. Maybe the top of the suspension "foot" should have tiny rollers indeed, so as they sag to maximum, they guide the smooth roll of the track. This way also the necessary track tension can be set automatically, good idea. I still love your video presentations and the way of gesture talking - it has a special and original charme.

That is beautiful piece, and very accurate replica! You might need to add a TAN color scheme too.

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
agrof replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Same here, I am just curious of the final look and technical bits it will have. The 10261 Creator Roller Coaster (BTW - looks really interesting even under GBC loop!) just hit the frontpage - so we can expect the Chiron soon, I think. -
Attitudes and mindsets
agrof replied to Bublehead's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Agree, many times we need encouragement which helps a lot, the problem is if the focus is on the feedback only. Honest words help too, we seen here already colleagues saying ran out of ideas, mood, or having bad period in life - there were encouraging feedbacks coming. All in all, this forum is not a bad place to spend time with, but one of the best! Edit: @allanp explains very well below, what I meant with the first period of my previous comment. -
Attitudes and mindsets
agrof replied to Bublehead's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I share my observations too. @Bublehead It is an AFOL forum so you will not get "childish wonderment / amazement". We are adults, unfortunately we already forgot how to be a child - therefore we have another aspects and attitude for life. In return we can buy Lego for our hard earned money. On the other hand, this is an AFOL forum, and we are childish enough to play with "children toys" - as said with degrading tone by real by-life-bitter ADULTS. Technic is also a special part of the Lego world, it is more technical, more abstract, more mechanically detailed than the system world. Even in AFOL world many times Technic is not considered as Lego. If You consider the unique properties of Technic, it is quite obvious that it has fans with special and similar attitude, who are more interested in technical, mechanical - or even mathematical! - solutions. If You look up f.e. Jung's Typology, you will find what personality types are involved in what kind of activities. I am pretty sure, that Technic AFOLs are most commonly introverted, sensing, thinking types. Of course, You need to understand this, that everyone has all the attributes, but in different mixture - and this also differs in given situation (f.e.: speaking with colleauges - more strict, based on thinking, or with your children - more forgiving, based on feelings). I believe, that here on the forum this kind of attitude what you observed is related to personality type, we are just more technical, logical, and we are just not WOW - LOL - FIRST! type of people. If You look up the Star Wars, Ninjago, Sci-fi subforums, You will find these amazement more, because of the different mindsetted (important: not better, not worse!) audience. Simple like that. I am also pretty sure, that there is no intentional personal offense in the comments in the Technic subforum, it might be understood so due to the dry, unbiased (dispassionated?) wording - personalities again. As said before, if one would not care or would not be interested to help with an idea to make a certain MOC better, than no feedback would be given. Greetings: an introverted AFOL P.S.: I don't get the whining about not recognizing and not appreciating the invested time in a MOC... it is still a hobby, You do it for Yourself. If You do your personal relaxation in order of getting recognition and positive feedback only, than something is seriously wrong... -
If You compare apple to apple, You also need to add the cost of an Sbrick - than You are on the same level as BuWizz. They are indeed not copies, as the video link of the "copy" refers to the very same YT video. Still, I don't think it is fair usage. Could be a mistake, or double entry or copy though. To make it a game, I don't reveal anything: push your team to check the page again - they just need to find the matching pictures.
