  1. So, are You saying, once a thing is told, than noone should agree or disagree any more? Is there too much talk in a community board? - Funny. There is many members here, each is rightful to tell an opinion. If many people complains about the same thing, does it make the issue boring, or does it make the complaint established? I feel rather the second, a critical mass reached - and this is good, this is something what LEGO shall listen.
  2. @896gerard I fully agree with @aol000xw, and also consider this discussion (not moaning) as feedback. Without feedback - let it be negative or positive - there is no improvement. As some TLG member follow this forum, the message will fly to addressed with greater chance, than writing an email to LEGO's customer service (has anyone tried it already regarding this issue?). It appends on point of view (Bugatti was p#ssy to invent a perfect 3 crankshaft engine, and they made compromise with 1 only ). Let's say: I am not a petrolhead, so I don't care about how many cankshafts are in a LEGO model. It is your right to complain about no proper fake engine, if you expected that from a "scale" model - we will not start to fight about, I accept your opinion.
  3. @Appie But isn't the phrase of high standard and high quality for perfect compatibility meant for each LEGO products (elements)? Is it just for the 4x2 blocks? If this suspension issue appends on production tolerances, than LEGO radically dropped their tolerance-o-meter. I think if it works only for 40% (which I can't believe, as there is only 1 video shows this, vs all the others basically I could find on YT), than it IS an issue - different as we had with the Porsche, but similar what we had with the linear actuators in 8043.
  4. A bit off-topic: are we really looking for "sense" at engineering counterpart of l'art pour l'art? Does it make sense to have 1500 HP on everyday conditions (which for the Chiron is designed too), or have such unique engineering solutions which pump up the bill to 2,4 million EUR? For me it is like finest watches - we did it because we could, not because it makes sense. So, in this spirit a 3 crank engine fits perfectly - whatever if it is only LEGO or real life. You need to think abstract in case of LEGO and Bugatti, this creative freedom is OK for me, especially in this collaboration. Otherwise there will be always things to complain: missing cylinder head, valves, list goes to infinity, and you find yourself in an abyss, where joy is a vanishing memory only. Edit - Still, the marvelous LEGO translation of the rear of the car + the innovative gearbox, in parallel with non working suspension just freezes my brain. Edit 2 - Also let me be a bit cruel: who cares about the problems with 3 crankshafts in real life, if the car sits in the garage in the middle of the desert in 99,8% of it's lifetime?
  5. I had an idea, but with opposite working effect. Never mind... Great solution Dugald!
  6. Interesting discussion is going on. One must understand the constrains how LEGO must work, what solutions they must come up with to fulfill their standards. However this is the point, where I am starting to get picky too. Let me quote: "Only the best is good enough." So, I do demand a LEGO model is being PERFECT out of the box - not as a scale model (stupid to claim this), but as a model with all of it's offered functions. W16 with 3 crankshaft? Come on, it is extravagant enough, I bet if Bugatti could build an engine in that way, they would do. But failing front suspension? Nothing to overlook here, not even for the cheapest LEGO set. Also the wobbly doors are on the fence for me... I think this set is a step into the right direction in comparison with the Porsche (this is not a compliment, that set should have been perfect on its own too!), BUT there are still akward issues, which disrespect TLG's own core value. EDIT: For "leaving room for improvement on purpose" - as a designer / engineer, I would never dare even to think about, especially if I set myself to the peak of the industry.
  7. What about adding a 3. spring on this side? As far I can analyse, there is space for that in the final build. Is it elegant? No, but looks like the official solution isn't either, but this would be an easy mod.
  8. I stand corrected, You are right - but we got the idea. Could be that the blue friction pins at inner rotation points are causing this? Can somebody test it?
  9. @Wolf_Zipp Thanks for the good visualization, your calculation is a bit wrong though, the ratio is 1:2. It doesn't matter actually in this issue. I dug into the live build video from Billund, where Sariel built is correctly, see: https://youtu.be/bBNLskdewBM?t=7638 In the end of the video it is still clearly visible, that the front suspension is fully compressed, don't look what Sariel does as he pulls the car upwards too, but the speaker guy: https://youtu.be/bBNLskdewBM?t=25113 So, is the suspension really under dimensioned, or is this caused by friction pins, or something else what I can not see at the moment?
  10. @Lox Lego Does the front suspension work for You OK? Does the spring misplacement cause the no-suspension issue, or is it just as wrong with original setup? Could You make an analysis what could be the root cause? @Bartybum Easy hue setting work only for base colors (seems to), other shades start to pixelize.
  11. Sorry, I am not Photoshop expert, this quick saturation and hue settings are the best I can do for now.
  12. I was also thinking about that, unfortunately there is not much color variety of certain parts available. Still, I would buy this in a heartbeat (or in full black): More edited pics HERE. Edit: Although I must admit, some color really adds to the appearance.
  13. If you want to try, than why not. In my opinion it is an OK replica of the W16 made of LEGO parts. It is design thumb rule to follow the same design language for a product to achieve coherent visuals. No offense - sure, You can try it, but it will look very weird with a ton of holes in the front, and almost smoothly paneled on the rear.
  14. @aminnich Maybe because it is the day of the release of the Chiron, and the other sets will come in August? @Richard Dower No, see: https://www.google.hu/search?q=rough+terrain+crane&rlz=1C1GGRV_enHU751HU751&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjp6prUyrLbAhWGFZoKHRPkDA0QsAQIJQ&biw=1462&bih=791
  15. @Bartybum I see no reason for engine replacement, in reality the engine is monstrous too. Flex axles on front would ruin the overall picture: nice paneling on the beck, and wire frame on the front... I don't think it would look good. As for me to change: I would replace the C-lines with LBG pneumatic tubes, and use LBG pin w pinhole connectors as support for them. I know it is bit thicker, but much smoother overall. And black wheels, maybe from Porsche. If somebody has the chance, could we have a picture about it (of course in the near future, not now)?
  16. @Jim I remember it was mentioned in an interview, that color choice is basically on designer. I assume they have some constrains though... But @Erik Leppen's questions raised one to me: Does TLG consider part colors compatibility in general (thinking on audience in MOCs and MODs) during the design process - just like they do in part shape designs, or do they consider each set as standalone set where only limitation is TLG's own production batches, storing space (combining more sets with same part usage for more effective production & logistics)? I hope my question can be followed.
  17. I am aware of the existence of this combo, is it clearly tasteless, right? @icm LDD is very handy, You only need to play with gear meshing a bit. Sorry did not read properly - rim shock. You can find more useful hints in this subforum: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/forum/128-lego-digital-designer-and-other-digital-tools/
  18. Openable, with storage space for some fun accessories (lipstick - why not, for real man who need 1500 PS and a cuuute leather handbag )?
  19. While I do admire the innovation in the gearbox (yessss!), and the overall design of the LEGO Chiron, I noted I must add 2 more to the 7 deadly sins: - Handbag (again, and also not even functional), not needed to explain... - Dark Blue rims - really? I know they wanted to have it exclusive, but apart of Bugatti, it is LEGO too. So reusability is for the plebs? Not to mention, it is just tasteless color combo, there are so much nicer available. Actually I was fine with double tone blue, but I was believing black rims for default.
  20. Very cool motorization, I love the gearbox sequencer! Still one of my favorite sets. Despite it's age, it is definitely advanced for it's size, with this MOD you definitely raised it's value.
  21. Isn't it the opposite? M motor is connected only through front holes, because it has those connection points only (not considering anti-stud face underneath)? L motor is easier to install, and can be active part in structural strength, so for me no question which I would pick first (L).
  22. It is your topic, so you decide mostly if it is dead (BTW it has 1000 views, which is not bad). Make a video if you feel your inner motivation to show it - but for the moment the new LEGO releases steal the attention, so bad timing. I like this car, could be better in the rear fenders and rear area, but overall it has good proportions, and nice look.
  23. Yeppp, we might overthink this. L-motor has way better intgration ability due its connection points, and that's it.
  24. M motor and L motor has only 15 rpm difference, which is barely noticable. Don't forget, that here it should run pneumatic pump with some friction and resistance due to pneumatic pressure, so torque is more relevant, where L motor easily the better choice (18Ncm vs 11 Ncm). Not to mention, IF this machine uses 2 pumps for faster operation... I am skeptical with this, but could be an option.
  25. Than check please again what I wrote, and check the website where you comment. It is Eurobricks - starts to switch the lightbulb on? In case: Posting here pictures before the official reveal is against Eurobricks policy (in partnership with TLG) - you accepted it by signing in and reading the Forum Guidelines. Period. Moderators have asked members to act accordingly way more times in this topic than should be needed.
