  1. Chapter IChapter IIChapter IIIChapter IVChapter V Chapter VI Chapter VII Chapter VIII Chapter IX Chapter X Chapter XI Chapter XII Chapter XIII Chapter XIV Chapter XVChapter XVIChapter XVIIChapter XVIII Chapter XIX Chapter XX (you are here) Chapter XXI Lady Cora read “Lost at Sea” by Captain Argentum’s name in the paper and fainted. When she came to she went and climbed a tree, since that was a place where no one would look for her and she could decide on a course of action without fear of interruption. To be continued... All right, needless to say I didn't build this whole scene just so Lady Cora could meditate in a tree... It was part of a Summer Joust collaboration. But, there were lots of trees and this was my plan for the next "vignette" anyway. I regret how little of the roof you can see in the main pictures. There's a lot of intricate stuff going on to get those As! This kind of waterwheel scene has been on my to-build list for quite a while, and it turned out very close to how I was envisioning it. There are a whole ton of leaves in this scene and the layout is a little funny in order to get that bend in the river--there are some behind the scenes shots on my blog. I also tried out a new (I think?) technique for the tree trunks. I wanted to get the effect of knots with those round upside down donut tiles. I think it did a fairly good job of breaking up the square trunk, but I'd be glad to hear second opinions on that! The next chapter will go back to the vignettes to show what it is that Lady Cora decided to do... C&C welcome!
  2. Good fix there, I don't know where my poetry skills were not to think of that myself! Thank you! Thanks NOD! A favorite wall technique of mine--though a little hard to keep together. They are kind of useless aren't they! I've seen grill tiles used as carpet in other colors, it seemed to work well in gold. Thank you! Thanks! That was fun to design. Thank you!
  3. It's not possible to comment too many times on a MOC with an elephant in it, so I'll try this again. Yep, still loving the elephant and the monkeys and the color on the building! Speaking of the color, it's really nice how it complements the outfits the two gals on the roof are wearing. Great variety of trees too, looks very colonial.
  4. Aside from the minifigure activity, it's a really pleasant scene, with great colors. I especially like how you threw in some touches of light yellow and coral in the sand. Where's that double molded pirate hat+hair from? I knew there was one in black--have one, in fact--but didn't realize it existed in brown and blond. Barracuda Bay?
  5. Looks incredible, so well shaped! I'm particularly impressed by the front.
  6. Great use of that torso! And nice rockwork, I love how it comes in from the left.
  7. Just the HSS for me--but I was never too into the city-building thing, so even my HSS only has like two MOCs. There is a GoH wiki which probably has some of the cities like Barqa but I'm going to guess that it's not up-to-date!
  8. A great micro, I mentioned the water technique around the edges somewhere else but I'll mention it here again, not a technique I've seen before and it looks really neat! Great use of sideways building throughout but especially on the base of the windmill!
  9. Love the olive and lime combo! And it was a really good call to go bigger so the children would look little. The dogs help too. Looks like they're having a lot of fun, too bad those legs don't move for a more natural pose!
  10. I've been waiting to comment until I had time to read the story--and now I'm quite curious as to what happens next! And I enjoyed the humor. As for the build--what gorgeous lighting! Between you and Henjin, I think I need to take a second look at my lattice windows. I also really like the variety of patterns you've got here, on the floor, on the walls--the thin arches with macaroni tiles are especially good. Great furniture too, enough to be really interesting but without cluttering the room up, leaving it with a really grand atmosphere. And you already know from Flickr that I love your choice of colors on the vine! Clever use of the long blade pieces for hangings, too.
  11. Some really great curves on that boat - and a great rock arch too. Love the white stripe over the boat edge especially!
  12. This turned out really nice, very immersive and with a great warm feeling. As I said on Flickr, love the floor, but also nice variety of muted colors and textures on the buildings, helps the details like the carrots and red mat and so forth to stand out.
  13. Wow, that's pretty neat. Also creepy how the Oleonese are everywhere...
  14. The mirror is brilliant, makes this look way bigger than it is! Nice variety of colors without being overwhelming in such a small footprint too.
  15. Your interior scenes are always realistically lit and this is no exception, I love the way the light sparkles in the windows and floods the floor! The story was great too, and I really like how many bits of things you've got going on in the scene without it looking cluttered at all--the high wall and rafters give it such a good balance. Great door design too, and I'm very impressed that you built a whole dragon, I'd just have done the head and tip of a wing if I were doing a scene like this. Definitely want to see some pictures!
  16. They seem to have corrected the extra tags? No idea who it is though. Please, reveal yourself.
  17. Blue is more important. No really, it actually is the more important Kali color (IMHO) because we share red with Nocty. Also I think if you really were trying to make purple you probably should put more blue in than red.
  18. The combination of greens and tans creates a great peaceful atmosphere, and you continue to kill it with these multi layered buildings! I love the rounded roof style you've used on this one, and the wand use is perfect!
  19. I love your bird here, they're so cute! Great work on the mill too, especially the round windows you built into the roof.
  20. This is a really clean build, great job with the siding on the house especially!
  21. Really neat floor pattern here, and the repair work brings some nice activity to the scene too!
  22. The unwritten rules on right vs. left flags? My life cannot handle this level of complication...
  23. Chapter IChapter IIChapter IIIChapter IVChapter V Chapter VI Chapter VII Chapter VIII Chapter IX Chapter X Chapter XI Chapter XII Chapter XIII Chapter XIV Chapter XVChapter XVIChapter XVIIChapter XVIII Chapter XIX (you are here) Chapter XX When news of Edward Argentum’s untimely demise reached Corrington it immediately worked its way into a nursery rhyme: Rock a-bye baby, Safe in your crib, Captain Argentum can’t get you; He’s dead! Okay, so I obviously was having way too much fun with these "reaction" builds. I enjoyed trying a new floor pattern out. My limited quantity of gold grill tiles made the footprint of this vignette fairly small, but I still was ambitious enough to get an all LEGO shot out of it. I'm making up for burning the Corry flag a couple builds ago by having a micro version on the wall here. I hope you're still enjoying the Captain's story, it is drawing gradually to a close, I promise. C&C welcome!
  24. Thanks Ayrlego! Yes, that happened quite a while ago and I still haven't rescued him...
  25. I think the lighting really sells this, great slanted sunlight. Great job getting the vegetation to look so intense too.
