[OL - FB] Essian Reiterhaus, Fort Arltrees
Kai NRG replied to Khorne's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm really glad to see you build something in this style, the dark red with those spikes on either end of the roof makes it very unique. I love the little details like the spider tile and the soldier sharpening his blade. The technique for the lanterns is great too and the shield flanked by parrots is perfect! That looks fantastic! -
[OL - CH IV - CAT D] Customs House and Pivot Bridge
Kai NRG replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It does look a little incomplete, but the two towers and especially the curved tudor work are fantastic. Bridge looks great too, I hope you can get more renders so we can see it in action! -
[COR - ChIVE] ETTC Villa, Terraversan Interior
Kai NRG replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The vegetation here is lovely--especially that tree! I really like the color textures on the wall too, and how the grey gets less frequent higher up. Great sideways slope technique for the sidewalk kind of area too. -

I just love the cobweb on the door, really highlights the shady/abandoned feel. Great choice of colors for the roof too and the mottled dark tan and white walls are spot on! And of course, the submerged croc--brilliant imitation of the full croc!- 12 replies

Chapter IChapter IIChapter IIIChapter IVChapter V Chapter VI Chapter VII Chapter VIII Chapter IX Chapter X Chapter XI Chapter XII Chapter XIII Chapter XIV Chapter XVChapter XVIChapter XVIIChapter XVIII Chapter XIX Chapter XX Chapter XXI (you are here) Chapter XXII As the daughter of a Terraversan General, Lady Cora had learned many things--such as climbing trees--which few of her acquaintances would have suspected her of. Though famous mostly for her ability to faint on the slightest provocation, she was quite competent as a navigator--at least, she knew all that the books said. Of course she hadn’t much practical experience. Did that deter her? Not her! Disguised as a pirate, she prepared to do a little scouring of the seas on her own account. To be continued... This is a wave technique I've wanted to try for a while now, it's pretty fun! The boat design is new too, though of course it borrows from the sideways designs of some of my microscale ships. C&C welcome!

Thanks evancelt!

I think it's too bad the backpack technique was too fragile for a base; that would have helped remove it from the immediate focus and made it look more natural. The texture is a little odd if you look directly at it, but I think it would work well as a less focal point of a larger MOC. The stone texture with the shields is great!

What a great pair of MOCs--the pink and purple curiosity tent looks so good, great curve in the back. Lots of neat stuff inside too, love the alligator hanging from the roof especially! But though it's much smaller, the tent on the section vignette is perfect in its own way, the garage door works super well. I'm loving the sign post too! And I also have to mention your close up minifigure shots for the story, so well composed and sharp focus on the figs. Now... what's in that letter?

CDC2 Ancient Wonders: The Nest of the Flying Tiger God

Noticing some fun things like minifigure legs on the cliff as I look at this more closely. And again I have to say, really great work capturing a complex layout! The colors of the building also pop super well against the landscape. Great stuff!- 10 replies

The big moon here is so striking, great job also on the falls and the knights pose. Can't pick a favorite between that and the deer myself! The apple green looks lovely with lime and bright green on the rocks. Great transition of water colors going in front of the falls too.

Sneaky pirates! Absurd houses perched on rocks are so fun, they get me every time. Great build! -
Commodore T Spoon is sailing

Great job integrating the hull, I also love the curvy sail! What will Commodore Spoon find to eat in Pontelli, I wonder? -

I already complemented your snowscape on Flickr, but I'm still impressed by how... snowy it looks! Maybe it's the way the snow wraps the rocks, on the bottom and the top. The entire MOC is really well composed, with everything gradually getting higher until the pagoda in the background. I love your subtle textures like the reversed profile bricks. If there's one thing to criticize, it would have to be the highest roof--given the snow, the gaps between the corner pieces and the main roof look a little strange. Something I love though is that you chose to include only one minifigure approaching--it gives a real sense of size! Great work. -
Introducing Commodore Spoon
Kai NRG replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yay the monkeys are back! Actually, I don't see any monkeys, but I have faith that they are behind this somehow. What a cozy little house Commodore Spoon has, and what lovely little steps up. Looking forward to seeing what secrets he hides behind that innocent grin! -

Might be time to update the New Members guide... is that a non expiring invite @Henjin_Quilones? -
He's quite a cutie, I love the poseability of the wings, not something I usually see on brick-built dragons! I'm quite late to the party (or not party), but I just now saw these pictures.

Welcome to GoH! We have a Discord server for a bit of informal chatting, but everything important happens on the forums. -
You integrated the chess squares into your base very well, and great job with all the chess pieces! I especially like the black rook and the white pawns and king. Pity you didn't get it done in time for the SJ, it would have been a super unique entry!

Thanks! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the whole collab, it was great to participate with such awesome builders. Thanks Professor! Thank you! It's great to hear that the donut tiles worked for you. This one actually had a lot of postprocessing to get the focus right! It's a combination of two photos each with the focus in a different place. But I did find this particular build easy to photograph, it has a wide variety of colors so there wasn't anything messing with the balance. Thanks Captain! Forced perspective is always a challenge, so glad you think it turned out well!

[Freebuild] "The Peaceful Shrub" Inn, Oxenfurt, Avalonia
Kai NRG replied to Servertijd's topic in Guilds of Historica
It's a lovely MOC, such a pleasant scene and I really love the textures of your stone floor and the tan walls! The density of the leaves on the large tree also looks really good, and there are some neat things to spot like the bottom of books for a turkey platter! Great work. -
A magnificent addition to the Kaliphlinian landscape, beautiful colors and details! The more I look at it, the more I like the lower half--the brown, white, and tan are very visually pleasing as a background to the more extravagant colors. Speaking of extravagant colors, impressive job getting so many of those to work!

Ouch! I have a similar story with this delicate forest. I left it on the ping-pong table and one of my little sisters decided it would make a good blanket weight for a play tent. That ended in many pieces.

It was about time someone did that... Thank you! I have a couple floating story hooks myself... but I'm determined to finish this one up even if I have to go a bit small. Hopefully the final story will be a really fun read all together--supposing anyone has time for that sort of thing these days. But yes, I'm wondering where Bregir manages to house 15 WIPs! Three is almost too many for my sanity level... Color me impressed. My creations would be in mortal peril if I tried to stack them.
