[MOC] MAN TGX with Tanktrailer. RC/7w for Minifig Scale
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Ts__'s topic in LEGO Town
Whoa, that's really impressive! I love how you managed to get the mini steering into that small of a space! I've actually been trying something similar recently as well, but just gave up as it was giving me way more trouble than it was worth! And the use of those old technic brake disks? That's the cherry on top for part usage! -
[MOC] Station / Bahnhof 'Holzberg'
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Thomas Waagenaar's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you! That was my intention as well, I don't have a big space for a permanent lay-out in my apartment sadly, so everything has to be done in such a way that it can be stored onto shelves! The modularity and more compact scale definitely helps with that! And as a bonus point for the future, if I ever get the chance, I'd love to bring it to something like BSBT! Hopefully I can do 2027, if I can get selected out of all the applicants at least, haha Thankss!! And sounds like the intention of it being in a small rural town is definitely coming across! :D -

Thank youu!! Thank you very much! -
I've been thinking about the full snot wall as well, but the "bar" on the side would end up too wide that way, even on my design it's already too wide honest, ideally it should be a 1-1.5 plate height at most...😅 Hence why I'm leaning towards the more simple box shape right now, it'll also allow me to put in an interior, so that'll compensate for missing one exterior detail in my mind, haha

[MOC] Station / Bahnhof 'Holzberg'

Thank you! I think it's relatively new in collection as well, I just happened to stumble upon the colour in Studio! Haha Thank you! I have to admit that I've never been there, but perhaps in the future? Might make for a nice trip, looks like they've got a good collection! Thankss! For the lights, I've got some trans-yellow parts in the list for the next order, I'll see how it looks with those. I want the exterior lights to be a different hue than the interior ones in the end! The wires aren't actually properly concealed at all, it's just I attached them all to the ceilings of the floor above, so from normal viewing angles, they don't get noticed at all 😅. For the exterior lights, I used a 3mm rigid hose, they've got an empty inside, so I pulled the wire through there, and then via those bricks with studs on either side into the building! I've actually done those big cracks along the edges on purpose, many more rural stations, and even bigger ones, they didn't really care for safety. Honestly, even these days you'll find many stations with massive cracks and chunks missing in the concrete platform... 😬 Minifigures are definitely on my wishlist! I just need to take the time to browse through every existing bricklink torso/leg/headwear pieces to find a good collection of time appropriate ones, haha The pine trees definitely finish the entire build! I just need to get more 3mm rigid hoses to stuff inside of them, because sadly they're really fragile as top-heavy single stud connection... So adding a rigid hose inside should solve that issue! 😅 Some pictures of a train with the station will come once I've finished the passenger wagons! I'm really exited for the finished picture as well! Hahaha -
Haha, that's fair! Ahh, thank you for the colour comparison! It's honestly a shame that there's still that variation in those colours in that regard! I've edited the previous post with the picture, it should be functional again. But I think I'll go for the version where I won't need the Bluebrixx/Gobricks replacement part in the end, so atleast the only colour variation I'll end up with is the one Lego themselves can't fix either... 🫣😅

Thank youu! Thanksss! That's actually a good suggestion, I'll put a bunch of them on my next order list! I've got a few interior pictures, but they're far from glamour shots! Haha Here they are, as you can see, most of the interior design, bar a few things, are pretty much just copied from modular sets made by Lego, and the kitchen especially, I've taken the designs from the Italian Riviera set from IDEAS. The only thing I came up with myself was the floor pattern, stairs and couch to be honest... 😬 This is the first floor, a staff room with kitchen, couch and table. The stairs lead to the attic, that does exist, but has no interior as all the battery and resistor stuff is jammed in there. The ground floor, with a little basic waiting area, a small wood furnace for heating, clock and ticket desk. There is also a small workshop here, for small repairs and maintenance -
Hello all, This time I would like to present my small train station. It's for the fictional town of 'Holzberg'. The station is modelled after the Faller kit of Oberstenfeld. Because I'm not creative enough to come up with full designs myself yet, hahaha The platforms are modular, meaning that I can take off the end pieces, the piece with the benches and ofcourse the station building, this way I could add longer platforms, a crossing and essentially anything else I can think of in the future, without being stuck to this size already! Especially since I don't have the space for a full lay-out, I've made it in the way of the old Lego station sets, where it connects to the tracks using the slope pieces, this way I can essentially pick it up and store it on a shelf once I'm done playing around with my trains. And ofcourse, just like my trains, it has full lights in the main building!

Thank you! I'll have a look!

Oh, that's annoying for the Bluebrixx colours... For the Go Bricks, I assume their dark green is "Earth Green"? Yess, that's the cheaper one too, haha So that's likely gonna be the one I'll end up building in the future, it'll fit nicely behind the 70 for sure!
-
Here is a little spoiler then, haha I'll post more/better pics eventually once they're done in proper bricks! The left is the SNOT way, but already thinned it out to ~65 EUR, I did substitute a specific Lego piece for a Bluebrixx one already too, because the Lego option would be 40ct/piece, and I would need 20 per wagon... As you can see, the difference between them isn't that huge in detail, but it definitely is large in price!
-
Yeah, it's pretty much the "box" being different and the rest all the same, haha And I intend to give them interior too now that I've got more space for it going the simpler route. They were always intended to have lights, so it'll be nice to have lights where you can actually see an interior, even if it's just super simple seating in the end!
-
I've been thinking of it, but sadly not. One of the designs just goes with the flat sides of bricks, the other is SNOT with tiles. So other than the ends of the wagons, nothing really overlaps much in parts... :( Honestly though, I'm probably going go to for the simpler version, because most of the details and eye-catchers aren't in the body anyways, they are in the roof and end platforms, which will stay the same regardless of which version I'm picking, haha
-
Thank you! Yesss, the Green is slowly bankrupting me though... 😠Got 2 small passenger wagons planned, made 2 versions, a more complex and detailed one that resulted in a price of 75 EUR/wagon... And a more simple one that's 40 EUR/wagon, now it's a matter of deciding how much I care about those specific details honestly... 😬 Thanks! Honestly the lights were a must for me, so I always try to give everything lights, buildings, vehicles and my passenger wagons will have some lights too!

I had been thinking about it, but she was too big, and sadly wouldn't really fit with the rest of my theme in size... As such, my choices are Prussian for these, not quite as small and local anymore, but small enough that they'd not look too out of place compared to any of the big express locomotives 😅
