  1. This is so cool, I love your use of the heart shaped tiles that's a real nice touch, and it looks pretty close to the real thing, that's no small feat, I'm very impressed with this!
  2. Just curious if you folks like to listen to any music while you build, and if so, what do you like? I love putting on some Aphex Twin or Boards of Canada it really helps me not think too hard and get into a good flow, both with mocs and sets.
  3. I'm too chicken to do any mods myself (I get nervous just applying stickers), but I respect those who do, I've seen some incredible figs that would never be possible with parts out of the box.
  4. I see, thank you for clearing that up. I suppose there's the possibility of buying second-hand from others locally but that won't be enough quantity for the needs of people whose livelihood will be affected by this so I recognize that you and others like you are facing a serious situation. I wish I could be of more help.
  5. Thank you so much for the informative post, you answered a lot of things I wasn't sure about. I'm kinda intrigued now as to why my box says TX. Maybe I got an extra review copy that didn't get assigned to anyone by mistake? We ordered it like a few minutes after it was available on Lego's website, maybe that's why? Man you have me curious about this TX situation! I don't see it mentioned anywhere at all, so maybe someone who knows more will chime in if they know something. I think I'll hang onto the box a bit longer, I was going to throw it out but now I'm not so sure I should.
  6. Here's a link with more information about what's happening and why. https://m.pulsenews.co.kr/view.php?year=2024&no=360924 Judging from the article it seems like the main reason they are doing this is to make sure items are safe for households according to their standards for certification. That's all well and good but banning ALL toys until they're certified is going overboard. Is there any way that Lego products could get this certification?
  7. Yeah if that's the case I say go for it and get that sweet GWP, Rivendell probably isn't going anywhere for a bit, if it does retire next year there's always after market.
  8. I think it's awesome that you're able to build a totally different-feeling car with the same pieces of another, that's such a cool idea. I like that you provide detailed instructions in your video, I think I'll sub to your channel and check out your other vids, thanks for sharing this!
  9. Yeah I can't find any concrete info about what country of origin TX indicates but there is a production plant in Mexico, maybe that's also where Jang's Blacktron GWP came from as he is also in the USA and I think most new USA Lego are made at the Mexican plant.
  10. This is amazing, these look like official sets, I'm going to sub to your youtube and check out your videos later on tonight. Might try my hand at the grazer, I appreciate how economical it is with its piece count, same with the watcher. Kudos!
  11. One thing I like to add to my sci-fi interiors is a small kitchen area or break area with a small coffee pot build and a few mugs on a little table, even in the far reaches of space folks still need their coffee! I feel these touches can add a lot of life to my builds without taking up much space.
  12. That is really exciting news, certainly not what I expected. It doesn't look like Traveler's Tales' name is attached to this project, if they turn out not to be involved it'll be interesting to see another studio's take on a Lego game. This news article says that a Playstation Showcase event is happening in the next few weeks supposedly, I hope we learn more about this soon I'm eager to learn more, and I don't even own a ps5. https://www.brickfanatics.com/more-details-rumoured-lego-horizon-video-game
  13. Great stuff! My favorite part about this is the tall, sloped wall on the right, that looks fantastic! The overall structure leads your eye around in a fun way, there are so many little areas and sections to draw your attention, you always knock this stuff out of the park!
  14. I got your back, Jack! That'd make an awesome fig for sure! Also I'm excited for the City Advent calendar, my son loves xmas and we've never done an AC before so I think it'll be fun.
  15. Hey I didn't even know about the factory codes, you gave me an opportunity to learn something new and for that I thank you! Lucky I actually kept the box, my code was 09TX4, I got mine only 3 or 4 days after I ordered it so I'd be surprised if mine came from overseas!
  16. I love all of your work presented here. The captain fig is a good example of how you can change a lot about a character's entire vibe with just a few small changes. The robot inspires me to give my own a try some time, it's very inspiring and imaginative. That opening base is excellent, you always nail your interiors. But I get what you mean, space furniture has an abstract quality to it but you did a great job with it.
  17. If it were me I'd go with Rivendell for the reasons you already mentioned but depending on what your display space situation is Rivendell would take up a lot less vertical space. BD will be just as likely to be around next year if not moreso. I guess it depends on how bad you want that GWP. Oh and yes that sticker is one of the coolest I've seen in awhile!
  18. I was able to get a much better quality picture taken, thanks for waiting! I've edited the original post and the build should be much easier to see.
  19. Welcome! I love the classic stuff as well, and that's amazing that you still have your minifigs in good shape from your childhood.I also prefer the old style heads. I love sci-fi as well, I'd love to see some of your dioramas in the future, glad to have you here!
  20. I love it! I like that you preserved the exposed studs on the hood of the original. The standout feature is that hidden engine, very impressive!
  21. Neil Gaiman's Sandman twisted my mind up in the best possible way when I first read it in high school, I still come back to it every few years, I also like his books so it easily became my favorite. My favorite manga is easily JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, especially that Steel Ball Run series, that one was a trip to read. I think there's a new part being written now but I want to wait until it's finished because new chapters become hard to wait for as the plot ramps up, also I find that the translations tend to be a bit more polished when you give people time to edit them and adjust things after the fact.
  22. Sometimes numbers just end up adding up to sums that have controversy around them, there's no way it's intentional. Now if they did like a "hippies in the park" City set or something and it had 420 pieces that'd be an obvious purposeful reference, but the set is about dinosaurs, which have very little if any connection to stoner culture at all. Also, trying to start with a set amount of pieces and get your build to end up there seems like an awful lot of work to do. (That Saturn rocket set did it with its 1969 pieces but that was a reference to the year we first set foot on the moon if I remember correctly, just a harmless reference to history, if anything it's educational) Lego is pretty family friendly and they obviously care a lot about their reputation as such, but I don't think a designer is forced to change the piece amount when it adds up to something controversial. If they obsessively avoided numbers like 420 that would be weird too, so ultimately I think they just choose not to acknowledge it at all, and a child certainly isn't going to either, to them it's just the number of pieces their cool new set has in it.
  23. I'm blown away by how next-level this is while also keeping some of the design philosophy from those older sets alive in creative and stylish ways. Classic Space sets are all about stuff that houses other vehicles or cargo that you can access or deploy, and you've taken that concept and made it the main focus of how the set works and I love that. I was honestly surprised when I scrolled down and saw that it opened up to reveal so much. You have real talent, much respect!
  24. Thanks man! I'll try to take some better photos tomorrow when I can use a better camera, I'll just add them to my original post once I get them up. Really appreciate you checking this out!
  25. Outstanding work! The building is obviously the star, but the way your figs are expertly posed breathes life into your scene so well, and I especially like that violinist. Your immersive write-up is great as well, this is top-notch stuff all around!
