Easiest/cheapest army building is one of the current factions or kingdoms chess. But I like black falcon too. The downside is they will not be cheap. Certainly doable though, just take more money. I always liked the black knights even though they never had their own torso insignia. But it'd be easier for me to army build them.

I know im an AFOL but i still expect some LEGO under the tree for me &

I don't have to hint, my wife and mom both know that is all I care to receive. They just give me a dollar amount and I buy what I want up to that point. The gifts from my mom are too numerous to mention, so pictures will be up later on my Flickr and try to post one here. The lego from my wife will be in the form of LUGBULK, so I won't receive any of that for a while. Happy Christmas all! Edit: I am not sure if I will be getting pictures up after all, so here is my list. Town Hall Jabba's Sail Barge VW Camper Van Sopwith Camel All 4 Hobbit sets BTTF DeLorean Winter Village Market -

^Darth - not everything is available for store pick up, at least not near me. I ordered the Hobbit sets from them when they were first available and tried doing store pick up, but it would only let me shop to home. When I went in there later that day, they had them on the shelves. Same goes for the laketown polybag. It will only let me shop to home. But I agree it is simple, when it works.

I just want variety in my figures, so I dont care how we get him, as long as we get him. I'm fine with them playing it safe with adding only one extra figure with Batman to make sure it sells. If that is what it takes. It's be nice to have more variety of Batman then, but we are already getting quite a few different suits. Is love a different face printing. I'm sure that would seek a set right there, even with the same printing.

^I heard they had over 50 at a TRU in KC, but then when someone checked the next day they were all gone. So I think they must be selling well. I haven't seen any yet in Nebraska, just a few hours north of KC. Not sure on the pattern.

Interesting idea. The main problem is when you're in a store and you don't know the mass of each set, it is much quicker/easier to do $0.10 price per piece. I wonder how different these numbers would be with the mid-range sets or the cheaper $12.99-19.99 sets. Obviously the minifigure packs are very low piece to higher price ratio, but I would assume they would all have about the same mass.

What custom minifigure do you desire?
TheLegoDr replied to LuckyTheySay's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Daredevil, Punisher, Russel Crowe's Gladiator -
I don't understand. It takes about 30 seconds or less to build those small builds. Multiple minifigures would be great, but I think they have a good balance so far.

News LEGO CREATOR 2014 News & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've seen these sets out at Wal-Mart and TRU, even though they are a 2014 set. I am planning on waiting until next March with double points again. However, my daughter pointed out the Kangaroo on the Furry Animals one, so methinks it doesn't look much like a squirrel. But I will definitely be getting that one. And the small vehicles are actually pretty neat and I like that price $6.99. -
^Your parents shouldn't judge you for buying pink/purple LEGO. It's still LEGO either way. Plus, I grew up on Disney movies and loved them (even though they all had princesses in them). I guess I don't see the big deal . I'll end up buying these for my daughter, but there are some pieces I definitely would want for myself.

This has been mentioned/discussed quite extensively. This post talks a lot about it, but I think it has been mentioned in other posts too. Basically the older plastic was treated with a fire retarding agent that can cause discoloration over time. Almost all of my 90s white bricks are discolored too (yet my 90s TYCO brand bricks are the brightest white I've ever seen, so I assume they weren't treated the same or were made with different plastic, even though they feel/look like real LEGO otherwise).

Very nicely built/designed. Even though it is one primary color, it doesn't feel like a giant wall, so the texturing helps quite a bit. I've never been to France, but it looks very appealing. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the review. I was already planning on getting this set (one of the few I will get in the winter wave of SW). I like each figure, and since I have neither, I welcome them both. The RGs look way better now than the originals (in my opinion). The weapon choice is an interesting compromise, but I'm sure someone will come up with something better. I like the double sided capes that are being released more often now. I am sure I will find a use for one in my GoH builds, but I could use other colors instead of red. I won't build the laser cannon, so that won't appeal to me, but I actually do like those blasters. I want to see the blaster button/hinge used elsewhere since it has the clips on the side. I am sure I will have as much fun with these blasters as I do with my cannons. Just don't aim at the eyes.

^I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm glad there are changes to the source material because that book was dreadful..I could hardly make it through it was so boring. The movies are at least incorporating some action and suspense. Granted, it does seem the CGI is lackluster, which is odd this day and age. Maybe some of the actors are getting paid too high compared to the animators? The Lake-town guard is slowly cropping up in TRUs I guess. I still haven't found one near me, but in another town (~3 hours away) they mentioned they had some. So I'm assuming soon, they may come here. Either way, I ended up just ordering them online since they are back in stock there to guarantee I don't miss out again. These are way better than the Mirkwood Elf polybag. Now I wonder if I can find the Legolas poly for a reasonable price...

^that is stating they will make one. There is no guarantee of that.. But I think it could be done. Even if they kept the same proportion of translucent in that same color, the printing alone can easily change a figure. At the very least, we could have an army of ice/electric men....

I saw somewhere an unofficial official statement from a designer that they will never re-release those sets. They will continue to make new sets for everyone. They may re-release certain parts (similar to the dark blue arch in the Winter Village set) for fans, but they won't re-release a full set ever again. However, those doors in Cafe Corner are of the 1x4x5 and all doors were switched to the 6 stud height that is the standard now, so those will never be re-released. So either color substitute or pony up the cash...unfortunately. I bricklinked a fair chunk of Cafe Corner, but I changed the doors to be the 6 stud height so they match the rest of the sets. I've made a lot of other changes as most sets brand new aren't "perfect" for how I see them, so I need to modify everything.

Avalonian Task I, II, III. The county of Benoic
TheLegoDr replied to de Gothia's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nicely done. I am inspired to write out my post like this (if I ever get it done). I'm fervently working on my backstory and village and will need to find time to actually build (that's the hard part). But this is really well thought out and helps look into the lives of these people. You've done a great job explaining things. Thanks for sharing. -
Nicely done. I like the snow on the ground mixed with the green land. It is a nice touch. The target is a neat design and the gazebo is well built. Are those white plants official pieces?

Neat idea. It puts other LEGO houses/Modulars to shame! I considered building my house in LEGO, but I won't do it in minifigure scale I don't think.

Custom Printed Superheroes
TheLegoDr replied to The_Customizer's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Back of leg printing is strange, although neat to see it is possible. I don't care about the bottom of the back of the leg, but it'd be nice to have more figures not be wearing thongs when the front is printed! To be honest, I am unfamiliar with these heroes. I've heard of Deadpool, but only the red version we already have. How did one go about getting custom figures printed and what was the pricing like? Is it feasible to do it as a one time thing, or would it be best to do large numbers so you can sell some to make back your original investment?- 11 replies

It looks as to be expected. I don't know how likely I am to buy it, but at $30, it might be hard to pass up. I'll have to have a think.
