  1. This got me thinking of bricklinking some older space sets that I wanted as a kid, but never was able to get. Obviously I'd want as new looking pieces as possible, but some are only available in those sets. I compared a fully bricklinked NEW vs USED versions and it was at least 50$ savings buying all USED, but it makes you wonder how the condition was in USED. Depends on the store, I know, but I was surprised at that price difference. I'd probably end up buying the same era of pieces that were in good enough quality, if possible. As a reseller, or as an aftermarket buyer, I'd want the set to be as original as can be.So if I am buying this 80s/90s set, I'd want it to have as many original pieces as humanly possible. It'd be like the early Modular sets. If I wanted a like new set, I'd want it to be using the pieces that came with it instead of modifications you made as a MOCer. So I'd recommend disclosing it. Many people don't mind and you'd still make a sale.
  2. LT - They have a rolling pin in the Parisian Restaurant. Although since it is in a set, they may release it in a future set since it is already produced.. I'd like a paintbrush too. It made sense to include the rollerbrush with the painter a few series ago, but a handheld brush would be a neat addition too. Golf equipment of some sort. I'm drawing a blank, but I'm sure I could come up with a whole list if I thought about it. I'm just glad they give us something new (most of the time). I can't wait to see how the new series looks later this year!
  3. I highly doubt anything in the LEGO group is random. They wouldn't be a successful business by sheer chance if they did that. As for the above with the figure that never leaves you alone. Why do you have 12 if you don't like it? Just use the feel method and you can bypass those pesky characters.
  4. Thanks for the review. I am definitely buying this. This is one of the few LEGO movie sets I want. It has inspired me to build a Modular ice cream restaurant sometime. I can picture it now and this will add a lot to that place. Now I just need extra sticker sheets and extra torsos. Too bad they have name tags on.
  5. I honestly don't see a difference between those two images. But to each their own.
  6. Iron Man villains have that milkish white look too. So I guess that works. Fun play value for the kids. I know my daughter loves the glow in the dark stuff. GITD printing would be neat too. I know they did that with Monster Fighter stickers.
  7. ^well they were using a blank head for the pineapple in Friends, until they printed a pineapple head of course..
  8. I'll gladly take more armored Elves. My Elrond polybag and Haldir are getting lonely. I still haven't seen the movie, but I can assume how large the actual Smaug would be. I think in comparison to LEGO Hobbit figures, I'm sure that size will be appropriate. I'm just excited to get a dragon since I don't own any yet. I was in the dark ages during Fantasy Era and the new Castle line doesn't interest me in the least. A glow in the dark Witch-king. I wonder if it will be translucent like the new Electro figure, or if they will just do a glow head like the Iron Man villains.
  9. It is most likely uninformed shoppers. Pretty typical. I thought that is how eBay made so much money. Plus, lots of prior have that "gotta win" mentality, so they end up paying way more than expected on auction sites just because they wanted the satisfaction of winning. I sell minifigures on Amazon for way more than they go on eBay. Just uninformed shopping mostly.
  10. Oh yeah, I don't think it would be very easy to build it around msrp. I'm sure there will always be some overhead, even if it is only shipping from multiple vendors. Thankfully a lot of my green grocer and cafe corner are built from my collection, only needing some select parts. That might save on the end cost, but I still had to buy the other sets where I got all of these pieces from...
  11. The arches may be fairly common, but every time a new color is involved it has a new ID number. Once it goes out of production and they bring it back it will have a new ID number. For example, this link will show that there are two separate LEGO ID numbers for the one part.
  12. Is there really that big of a drop off from the artist's studio to the stairwell? Or am I missing something? It looks like you'd have to leap up/down to get in there. Otherwise, I like the separate patio area and the kitchenette area very much. Part of me wants to buy two or at least MOD one set with extra pieces. It seems too small otherwise, but I don't think I need it as big as two sets either. It's fun to see how others change theirs though. Keep up the interesting/fun work!
  13. I agree with Deathleech. The above two places will show you the inventory and you can find out the element ID number in relation to the pieces you want. There are different ID numbers depending on if it was retired and brought back or if they changed the mold for whatever reason. So you can find which piece was the exact kind for your set, so when you purchase them you will have the correct original piece.
  14. ^That is very interesting. I'm sure they do have a minimum threshold they would suggest calling for availability or terming it as sold out. I do know the Mini Modulars did go for that cheap price, I think around Brick Friday?? I purchased mine when it was first available, so it didn't phase me, but I do remember seeing it that cheap before. I would imagine anything that cheap, especially an exclusive will go quickly!
  15. I think the dark blue arches are around $0.71. And they wouldn't update market street inventory with them. More than likely they are a new mold and thus a new ID number. After they have been out of production for this long the molds always get a slight modification. Even the lion head is a different ID number. At least that is from my experience. I definitely will be modifying my market street, so I probably won't worry too much about a lot of the original pieces. But his job on getting one near complete at that price!
  16. This is really neat. I've thought about doing this. Does a lot of creativity and a small area so it is easier to display. I thought about doing this for Diagon Alley for Harry Potter so I can display it easier. Keep up the good work!
  17. That looks really good! I used to do LDD when I had a computer. Now I only use a kindle, so I don't have time or access to a lot of stuff. I like the top Windows changed to the other style. I purchased the original Windows a few years ago, so I am still using them, but I may want to switch to this other style. One disappointing thing is they switched the skis to a new version without the hinge. You can get them on bricklink, but not lego. The new mold doesn't look as good.
  18. I was hoping to wait to start building until I had 100% of the pieces, but I started to build the main floor with what I had. Part of me wanted to see how my modifications would look. So far so good. I'm surprised by how much I have just from other sets. I've heard that about CC's top floor. In my version I will have lots more room since it is more open, so that won't concern me here. Typically I would want to build the inside after the fact only do I can still have a finished building to look at. But if it is too hard to place the interior with all of the walls up, maybe I should do the interior as I go. I have no idea on a floor tile design yet. I think that is what will trip me up the most considering I don't have a ton of different sizes in that many colors.
  19. I'm not sure why this was important enough to resurrect this thread, but of course they will have the new head mood. That is how the Simpson's look in 3D. This has been discussed you death in every other Simpson's related thread. They wouldn't make new (expensive) head molds and only use them in one set. Presumably the price increase is due to the new molds.
  20. I think the only difference between the panels are the old had side supports and the new panels do not. So it isn't super noticeable. I think the old dark red roof slopes didn't have a recessed stuff and the new do or something, so that is all anyone would notice of they took it apart. I prefer the Windows in mine. I'm factoring in the double width in the bedrooms. I'm still working on it. I haven't touched my CC in quite some time.
  21. The only downside of doing Windows instead of panels is the entire front is 2 studs deep to accommodate the panels. When switching to Windows it doesn't need to be 2 studs deep anymore. That would be something to look into. Plus, since I'm modifying mine, I'm not doing the medium blue tiles or the dark blue wall on the inside. If you look at the instructions, they show a building made out of all of the blue bricks from the set. Look above the doorway and you'll see the same decoration life in the pet shop town house. Kind of funny seeing that happen in the future.
  22. At least for CC, the doors were really easily modifiable. I haven't attempted market street at all, but I'd modify those too if/when I build it. I think the next question for you will be, do you want to use the old or new panels for the Windows. I again modified them to use actual 1x2x3 Windows to match the rest of the series. Plus, then the minifigures won't get cold.
  23. Yes, I meant 40 different parts. I am unsure of a limit pet part though. They have tried directing me to pab if you order too many just because they have different limits. As far as craigslist goes, I think that pretty much sums it up. If you are okay with selling the rest, go for it. You may be able to cover your initial investment. A lot of that is based on who is selling and who is buying. I've seen lots for really cheap that were a goldmine and some that were expensive that had zero interesting pieces. Plus, not everyone has bulk lots listed on Craig's list. I look there quite often and there just isn't much in the way of what I would want, but rarely ever a bulk lot. Usually old star wars sets with a high Mark up. But I'm in the same boat I want new parts for my MOCs, so I go that route.
  24. I just checked the bnp today and was disappointed a lot of pieces were gone, but were available before their shut down. I will be placing an order soon to hopefully get a chunk of pieces I need. Last I knew you could only order 40 pieces from bnp at a time. That is when I ordered in October anyway. After seeing that sand blue grocer I've been thinking of changing my game plan. Who knows though. They do a lump quote, but they can go through the list so you know how much you are paying for each piece. Remember some pieces may be higher but shipping is super cheap, especially coming from Europe. Every time I've ordered I have had the element id number and the set the piece is found in, because they sometimes have to look them up.
  25. ^ I've only talked to them when I was finalizing, but every time I have called they have been really friendly and helpful at first then they get annoyed when I am asking about other pieces to add to my list. So it might be ymmv. I wanted to place another order soon, but the bnp site didn't have a lot of the pieces I wanted in it. And don't sets show pieces missing compared to before the big sabbatical it had. Also, I ordered the dark blue arches the moment the winter village set went live. I'm sure they have been a popular piece. But I couldn't pass them up.
