I only got three too and I wish I had purchased more. I didn't realize the uruks would go for so much by themselves. Otherwise I would buy them individually. But $5 or more for an armored version seems a tad ridiculous for my tastes.

^Then what will people say about specialty molds if any goo can be any shape you need!?!? haha I have only made a few small bricklink orders and only for specific things I may need at that given time. I wouldn't mind making a few orders of more generic pieces I could use more of in my builds, but there are too many specifics I need also, that seem to take up the bulk of the cost. And don't get me started on minifigures... I wanted to start building more snowy scenes. I originally joined Avalonia for GoH, but since watching Game of Thrones, I'm more of a northerner at heart so I want to build more snow castles. Although I prefer the Avalonia color scheme...

I don't have enough LURPs or BURPs. I hadn't liked them before, but the more you moc, you realize they make rock formations really quickly! Someone bought a whole bunch in our LUG. It will be interesting to see what he does with them.

glue + LEGO?? sacrilege...

I wanted a Gandalf with the back hair attached to the wizard hat like in that video game promo material. I thought for sure that figure was coming, but nope. That's the only way I'd welcome another Gandalf.

Why don't you message the person on flickr where he found them or if he made them? It sounds like he modded a lot of the weapons too, so maybe he makes his own trenchcoats.

I Would love elves. Lotr is my favorite theme but they have done a terrible job with it, do hopefully they can do better with castle again. I didn't get back into LEGO until kingdom's was almost over, but I loved that theme. I didn't get any of fantasy because I wasn't into it then, but I would be now. I could also do without the skeletons. Lego must like them since ninjago had to fight them also. I'd welcome more elves and dwarves and trolls and/or orcs.

^That's a good point. They most likely wouldn't do another production run. I can't imagine it is selling so well it is flying off of the shelves...It is a neat build however. It came out in 2013? So with the average lifespan of 2 years for exclusives, I'd guesstimate next summer being the last we see of it or until they run out.

Theon Turncloack - "Game of Thrones" scene
TheLegoDr replied to Wat Tambor's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Good point. Haha, I forgot about those! -
Very interesting idea. I love the cool yellow color here. Together with the white, it looks sharp. I'm surprised LEGO didn't do a Modular yet in that color. I expected it for the PR, but they chose olive green instead. Maybe next time. I like the shaping of the building and the white trim. It is a bit too tall for my city, but it looks like it fits right in in yours, which makes sense. Keep up the good work. I always like looking at your builds.

I've heard of police auctions, so maybe?? That'd be one to get in on for sure!

Interesting. I've never seen the movie, but I know the concept. My sister named her son Draven. I thought it was quite strange, but maybe after I saw the movie I'd understand?

What are some good minifig combinations using Uruk Hai parts?
TheLegoDr replied to Yzalirk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
plain dark brown doesn't look that bad. I like the official version the most, but I may opt for that idea to get higher numbers at a lower cost. -
Stop motion sure has changed over the years. Interesting watch. I've never seen that before.

AoM Farm phase 3: A typical Tundra Cottage
TheLegoDr replied to Gunman's topic in Guilds of Historica
The roof is definitely neat. I like the windows with the curved piece underneath instead of where it usually is. The droid arm fence is clever. I wouldn't have thought of that, but I don't own many of those pieces so my mind wouldn't even go there. -
The awning is my favorite part. I love the detailing with the smaller curved brick with the tile above it. I hadn't thought of that. Tand and brown work well together. I don't see that too often in modulars.

a box filled with some fresh Billund air would make it very invisible... I do like this list though. I can't wait for pictures. That always determines if I will buy. I've purchased many themes I don't have interest in just because the pictures make it better than initial thoughts..and the opposite is true.

MOC: There's no accounting for taste
TheLegoDr replied to Pate-keetongu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very clever. I've been wanting to build a taller figure like this before for my "trip to the optometrist" MOC I wanted to build. I'll have to study these techniques. Thanks for sharing. -
I've seen that sheep design before, and it continues to look good! I think the cow horn on top looks the best, although I know they do have straighter horns as well. The grass/rock work look good.

I actually rather like the white warg. I don't have to use it for a particular warg in the Hobbit, but just a generic more snow warg or something. So I like that idea. I hadn't thought to purchase multiples of it though. Perhaps I will for some northern armies.

Theon Turncloack - "Game of Thrones" scene
TheLegoDr replied to Wat Tambor's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Horrible person. Great rendition of the scene. If only they had a better wolf shield than that one. I'd be all over that. Winter is coming. -
Well, I missed out on pictures from EB since I took a few days off from the forums. But thankfully I found them elsewhere on the web. I can understand everyone's disappointment. I was so hopeful for this theme, but the movies and sets have left a bad taste in my mouth. This wave is no exception. It is the icing on the proverbial cowpie... The figure choices might be warranted, but I haven't seen the 2nd movie yet, nor will I probably see the 3rd when it comes out. Not because of lack of interest, but mostly time. I hardly have time to squeeze in anything else, I certainly don't have time for a 3+ hour movie... So with that said, I don't care to own 3 Bards. I understand the playset idea and the target audience, but he's becoming like Gandalf and Lone Ranger now..is that really necessary? I don't know who Bain is, so I don't really care to own him. I don't like the new orc hairpieces (I must be the only one). I don't need another Azog, even with a different print. It's like the Gollum or Hulk. Yes, it is "different" but it really isn't. The dwarven soldier in the larger set might be useful, but I'm definitely not liking these prices. I wonder how many sales will happen though. I've picked up the entire theme when it was released the last two years for my birthday, but I almost want to ask for something else for my birthday this year. And something I did notice, everyone talks about how a big molded creature is going to shoot up the price and ruin the price/piece ratio basically. Which is understandable. But look at Star Wars this year, with the Cantina. It has a giant dewback, 8 figures, almost 700 pieces for $70...explain that one! No other set ever seems to hit figures/molded creature/lots of pieces near that cost.

How do I find someone who does commissions?
TheLegoDr replied to ResIpsaLoquitur's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Commissions are nice and all, but pieces alone will cost a lot and once you throw in labor, forget about it. It isn't an easy task so I can understand the value of time, but the cost would be too high for a lot of people. -
It looks neat. I agree the interior could be better. The chair is nice. I don't love the re-use of torsos all of the time. The wires could work better as the CMF, of which I bought plenty for this reason. Mrs Claus could be better. People are already complaining of the price, but I think it is at an okay area, but I would want better use of pieces to give us something better. If the animals were molded the cost would be astronomical. I'll pick it up but oh went enjoy it as much as the first three. They haven't been the same since 2011.
